Who: Open to all, why not?
Where: The ol' Wayne place
When: 1800s WW
What: Bruce Wayne's throwing a Charity Ball to raise money for widow and orphans or something. (Just a little something to get people mingling.)
His grandfather built the house on the crest of the hill at the very end of the burgeoning town that would one day grow to become Junction City. The three-story Antebellum mansion, with its wraparound double-gallery porch, loomed over the city like a sentinel - glowing gas-lit eyes burning from the dormer windows on the Mansard roof. The Wayne's had nurtured this town, their money, invested in banking, real estate, and now railroads, encouraged its growth and watched it bloom.
So it had been nothing sort of a tragedy when Thomas and Martha Wayne - Bruce's parents - were murdered by an outlaw. Bruce had spent years away from Junction City in his youth, but now his dedication to its well-being went far beyond what most people were even aware of.
Tonight though, was all about the work the people did see - specifically for the war widows and orphans of their fair city. The ballroom of Wayne Manor glittered brightly beneath the gas-lamp chandeliers and the musicians in one corner had been playing without cease all night. Dressed in his tails, Bruce mingled with his guests, smile in place, knowing that although his heart longed to be elsewhere, at least they were gathered for a good cause.
