WHO: Adrian and Jesse Delacroix (Maybe Nicholas and Isaiah eventually)
WHAT: Talking
WHEN: After seeing Jayden at the hospital (so literally still the day they arrived in the city)
WHERE: Jesse's house
WARNINGS: Potential talk of sexual assault

The moment everyone arrived back at the house after visiting Jayden in hospital, Adrian went up to his guest room to lie down. He honestly couldn't handle the idea of demons and gods and horrible things that hurt his brother. God, had this been happening since their father died? He should have come back sooner.

It only took an hour before Adrian couldn't handle lying there and going over and over things any more. He jumped up and wandered to the kitchen where he found Jesse. "Jesse, man," Adrian said, shaking his head. "Holy shit."

Jesse honestly didn't know if he could take having another bomb go off. But it seemed like this was important to address, so he just nodded and sat back down on his stool.

"OK," he said. "Do you want it to be just you and me?" he asked, glancing at Nicholas.

Adrian considered that but finally he shook his head. "No, I- If I'm going to be edgy every time he walks into a room he should hear this. I mean, if you want," he said to Nicholas.

"Only if you're sure it's okay." It was obvious Nicholas wanted to be there for Jesse, however, considering the way he immediately pulled over a stool and sat as close to Jesse as possible.

Adrian sighed and he started pacing, forgetting about sitting down himself. "Uhm. It happened after you were gone, just- Just so you don't feel guilty thinking you could have stopped it, okay?" God his hands were shaking and he felt like he might vomit. "I never talk about this and this is now the second time I've spoken about it this month," he groaned. "Do you remember our neighbour from a few doors down? John?"

"You know, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be feeling some guilt for a while anyway," Jesse said dryly. But he shut up and let Adrian speak, screwing his face up as he thought, trying to remember.

"I...think so?" he said hesitantly. "Was he the creepy one who hung out on his porch all the time?"

"That's the one," Adrian said sadly. "John Wilson. He was a deacon at church too, so he knew Dad had kicked you out for-" Adrian pointed at Nicholas and then felt like a complete asshole. "Sorry. Any-anyway, he knew- He knew just what to say to keep me silent and then he uhm-" Adrian waved his hands around a little, trying to buy himself some time. His mouth was suddenly very dry. "He cornered me one day. Told me if I told anyone, he would tell Dad it was my choice and I'd get kicked out like you. I was fifteen and terrified of being homeless so I didn't tell anyone."

For a moment, Jesse just sat silently, as his mind caught up with everything that Adrian had just said. His stomach felt like it had relocated to somewhere around his toes, and he wasn't even sure he could open his mouth without yelling or sobbing.

Finally, when the buzzing in his ears had faded, he stood and pulled his brother into a careful hug. "I'm so sorry, Ade," he said thickly, trying his best not to cry.

Adrian stiffened when Jesse pulled him into a hug, but he relaxed a moment later. "It's not your fault, Jesse," he tried to assure his brother. A glance over Jesse's shoulder let Adrian know Nicholas was fuming in the corner.

"He did it for years, until I couldn't take it anymore and I had to leave. It's why I became a missionary. It was the quickest way to get me the farthest distance away. He started doing it more and more and I was afraid it would start happening every day-"

Isaiah had been resting in one of the guest rooms, but he'd heard voices coming from the kitchen, so he made his way downstairs. He could hear Adrian speaking, and then Jesse sounded really upset. Isaiah could guess what they were talking about.

Jesse watched Nicholas' face contort, and he could feel that emotion warring with a sense of misery. "I'm glad you got away, Ade, I'm just sorry it happened to you at all," he told his brother.

"That's what I said," Isaiah said quietly, stepping into the kitchen.

Adrian glanced over at Isaiah, a look of absolute guilt on his face. "That's not- I mean, if I hadn't, then you-"

"Hush," Isaiah said, not unkindly, and Jesse was struck by how much he reminded him of their mother in that moment. "People like him hurt who they're going to hurt, and you could've stayed and it likely wouldn't have changed a thing. If I was you, I'd have left too. Hell, I did. It's no one's fault but his, Ade."
