WHO Cathal & Rosario
WHEN Good Friday
WHERE The roof of 'their' apartment building
WHAT Can I borrow some sugar? I just moved in
Good Friday, and for Cathal it truly was. He woke feeling bright and only momentarily confused about what room he was waking up in. But once he remembered, Cathal couldn’t keep the smile off his face. Breakfast was at a local diner, and on his way home Cathal bought some essentials so he wouldn’t have to keep going out for every meal. The sooner he settled into a real home routine, the sooner he’d make it a real home. By afternoon Cathal was curious to know more about the building he was living in, and so made his way to the top floor to see if it was just more apartments. It was, and much like his own floor, but he did find a staircase that wasn’t just the one that went back down. This one - Cathal found when he followed it - opened up onto the roof of the building. He smiled brightly at this discovery and came out into the open air. This would be such a nice place to come up and read, even if the loudness of the city was even more pronounced out here. (Cathal was really going to have to get used to how deafening New York was after almost a decade in suburbia.) This might be a nice spot to do morning yoga too, lots of space unlike his new bedroom. He’d have to see if this roof turned out to have heavy traffic. That was a hard thing to judge on Easter. But there was no doubt that the roof was occupied at least on occasion, as he found a pair of lawn chairs set up and sat down on one. (Carefully, as he wasn’t sure if it was about to give way completely. It seemed rickety.) Spring in New York, and so far it seemed nice. Yeah, he could stay up here for a while and just enjoy that. Cathal closed his eyes to take it all in. |
