Jason is debuting his quid-legal neon pink (and glowing) broom today. It looks good early in the match, but it quite a sight to behold as the sun finally sets and the lights come on. He's a swift pink blur zipping around the pitch.

The early part of the match, Jason takes more of a defensive and conservative stance than he normally plays. While he is all in, he wants to set up his teammates and not get hit by bludgers. He focuses on interceptions and smart plays. However, he still does earn a few penalty shots and makes every one of them. Although, he does salute Wendy Sloo when she makes a particularly great save.

As the match goes on, no snitch in sight, Jason really starts to shine. Jason is used to flying for hours, and has been certainly training up his endurance for racing season. (Today's match will undoubtedly be replacing his long flight for the week before he starts the taper.) Still it is different when there are bludgers in the mix, but he can do this. He ends up scoring most of his points in the back half of the game.

He could do this all day.

But he is glad when Lennox catches the snitch and he doesn't have to.

Lennox spent much of his game wondering what on earth the Catapults Seeker was up to. Merc was right, she's a daring flier - but at the same time, shows off and takes unnecessary risks. The snitch appears three times before the final run where it is caught - the first around ten minutes in, it appears briefly before vanishing.

The second is after three hours, where Threapwood seems actually like a 'proper Seeker' and is in the same half of the pitch as Lennox, attempting (and failing) to properly mark him. Unfortunately for them both, the snitch appears in the exact opposite half. Lennox makes a streak towards it before Threapwood can react, but it vanishes again by the time he's halfway there.

The third time the snitch appears, around an hour later, Lennox truly wonders if she's lost her mind. While he's circling high above the action and can avoid most of the trouble pretty easily, Threapwood is much further below, doing random trick shots and loops. Showoff, Lennox thinks, especially when he can track the snitch - it vanishes again after less than thirty seconds - and she doesn't have a clue until it's too late.

Fourth time's the charm - after a long, interminable wait, the snitch appears again. Lennox spots the snitch right in the middle of the action, and while Threapwood is off doing...well, something, he slowly manages to track his way towards it without drawing attention to himself. On the final approach, he speeds up and snatches the snitch without most players realising what actually happened, right from behind (volunteer)'s knee. Unfortunately for the young amateur stuntwoman the Catapults seem to be training up, he dive for the snitch, which has worked twice before, sees her land on the floor having missed the tangled knot of players entirely.

Lennox slowly approaches the ground, sitting with his legs dangling aimlessly on either side of his trusty Comet.

Maddock is on FIRE today! While he had less shots at the hoops than his fellow chasers, luck was on his side today with 27 clean shots! Of course these were well disturbed throughout the 7 hour match. While Maddock isn't the fastest chaser, he is an endurance chaser and can last the match.

And not to be outdone by the Catapults and their fouls, Maddock for two warnings of his own. First for tucking which is becoming Maddock's signature foul of stuffing the quaffle down his shirt to delay play. (This could be to give an opportunity of any of the people who were injured to get out of the way).

His incitement foul was after a confrontation with one of the Catapult beaters. (This could be more distraction for another teammate's injury). Maddock incited the Catapult beater to come after him. There was a lot of yelling and not family friendly swearing. This also earned Maddock being 'accidentally' hit in the arm with the beater's bat that the ref 'missed'.

Merc ends up yelling at the ref for missing that because if Kal is going to be ejected for that same foul, at least CALL it on the catapults!

But other than that coach is cheering Maddock on with every goal, checking in on the intern taking stats notes to see how many points the crazy lad is at. It's not lost on him that Maddock is a good endurance type, and he's glad he has at least one in his starting lineup. But what a match for him!

[reposted because typos SORRY]

Georgi isn't exactly nervous when play starts (he's played long enough and with enough different sets of players that this is really just another match), but he's a little anxious about how he'll perform and whether the team/fans/owners will like him.

He's a conservative player in general and even more so in the first hour or so of the match while he studies his opponents and gets into the groove of working with Lex in a real match situation. They've had just barely enough time practicing together to make them into a team despite their very different styles, and he has to fly harder than he likes to catch up to her, and misses a few hits he should really have been able to get just because he's trying too hard. It doesn't shake his confidence, but it does make him more determined to come back.

Once he gets into the rhythm of it after about an hour of play, he relaxes, eases up, and starts to really show what he can do. Georgi's playing style is calm, methodical, strategic, and tireless. He's a geometry nerd with a bat, basically, and he approaches the Bludger game like a pool player does, lining up shots carefully and accurately with devastating timing. It's not exactly a flashy style of play and he doesn't take daredevil risks like Lex (this is why he rarely gets injured and has a ton of endurance, he can just keep on going like this forever), so it takes someone who really knows what they're looking for to notice just how good he is.

He and Lex had the goal of knocking Wendy Sloo off her broom, which they obviously don't manage, but they keep her off-balance all match. :) He also makese a point of breaking up opposing Chaser formations as much as possible, so they never really get momentum going. And he plays mostly right-handed in this match, but his signature move of tossing his bat over to his left hand just in time to make a difficult hit gets pulled out to great effect several times, which gets some surprised and excited cheering from the Magpies crowd.

(More later, I want to see what happened with the injuries on the pitch and when/how Lex gets knocked out before I comment on the late match <3)

It's a doozy of a game for Lex.

Georgi is good and they'd worked really hard to get into a groove, but it's two very different styles of play. She's definitely trying to work with and support Georgi's style which means she's a bit reserved in her style for part of the match.

After about the second or third hour, it becomes clear that Lex's primary objective is to get Sloo off her broom. She becomes merciless, double teaming Sloo with Georgi , but Lex is just slightly off her game and can't seem to knock Sloo off.

By hour five, Sloo is pretty pissed about the special treatment and ends up fouling lex (bombardment). Lex bitches to the ref & Sloo, thinking Sloo should have been ejected and instead gets warned for cantankering. Lex refuses to let up though, earning her quite a bit of ire from the opposing team and that's when the Catapult's Bronwyn Winne makes it personal around hour six. Lex takes a bludger to the leg. She hears a snap and is trying to figure out if she needs to land or not when Winne sends a bludger at her head, knocking her off her broom.

Injury status: broken leg + concussion.

Georgi wasn't close enough to help catch Lex, but he was worried for her, and once play resumed he pelted a Bludger right back at Bronwyn, sending her spinning into one of her Chasers for a neat two-Cats-with-one-stone sort of trick. Her ejection for wicking came immediately afterwards when she tried to leap onto his broom in an attempt to make him land. It didn't work, and then each team had only one Beater left on the field.

For the last hour while he was the only Magpie Beater, Georgi focused heavily on defense, keeping his team safe from the increasingly irate remaining Winne wildCat and two angry Bludgers as best he could. He's flown solo before many a time (including a good portion of that infamous 24-hour match he played with the broken arm) and didn't let it shake him -- he just carried on calmly and competently and did what he could.

Since it looks to Florrie like Lex was knocked out cold, and it's clear that Lex has a concussion, Florrie sends a call for an ambulator and has Lex sent to Mungo's straightaway. It's a long game and the longer they go, the more injuries she expects because people will begin to tire out. She can't give Lex her full attention and be at the ready for the next one.

So it's off to Mungo's for Lex, with an ambulator that might have been handpicked for the process. It's almost like the former deputy head of mediwizardry knew who to ask for!

Merc has apparated down to the pitch when the bludger hits her leg, from on high it doesn't look good and he's about to wave for her to land because no way she needs to play like that, but before he can she takes the bludger to the head and his heart stops. George part 2.

Wand out, he makes sure she stops well before the ground, helping get her to the medic tent. He'll hover until Florrie shoos him away and makes a few trips back to keep checking. Though at one point after leaving the med tent he disappears for about 10minutes and can't be found in the box.

Oops. Yours wasn't there when I started typing, sorry!

In that case he hangs around until the mediwitch comes, then disappears for a bit before he's off to Mungos to make sure Lex is seen to before he comes back to the pitch for the last half hour.

Micah's heart jumps into his throat when he sees this all go down, but forces himself to compartmentalize and trust that Florrie will make sure Lex gets the treatment she needs.

They've talked about this; they needed to be on their game if the other got hurt, and the team is going to look to him to adjust and lead the charge.

Micah has one of his best games yet, with 120 saves out of 131 shots, and is proud of his team for averaging more and better shots than the Catapults. He takes the Quaffle a little too hard to his right hand mid-game, but that doesn't stop him from pushing through the pain. It's not broken, or anything, thankfully, but he will have Florrie see him afterwards.

As mentioned, Lex's injury and removal from the game puts him on edge; anyone watching closely would've seen that he started to fly out to her before stopping himself about a foot away from the goal region. It wasn't much of a reaction, but it was there.

Still, he rallied, and made sure the team reorganized themselves to account for losing Lex.

Roger was definitely throwing caution to the wind in this match. He took a hell of a lot more shots than usual and managed to rack up quite a few points for Montrose.

His injury came around the three and a half hour mark, and it was partially his own fault. A bludger was sent in his direction which he didn't see coming until too late, knowing he couldn't duck or dodge in time he did what his instincts wanted and deflected it from smashing into his face. His right hand took the brunt of it and he'll have wicked bruises tomorrow.

He got tired at about six hours in, carrying the injury didn't help, and seeing Lex carried off the field gave his morale a massive hit. But another flurry of shots sorted his head out and he tapped into energy reserves he didn't realise he had. (Thanks for the extra training on that Coach!)

He made a tiny friend just before the match ended, which was quite content buzzing along beside him until Lennox stole it away from his knee.
