Since Des owns the stadiums (effectively), we always assumed he sat with the hoi-polloi out of desire to share their experience and buy the expensive, watered-down beer he had his people sell.

He's welcome in either owners box, and indeed, if he's there and doesn't visit both, it's sort of a slight an eccentricity.

The stadium is full, it's a close game without serious injuries, and people are buying beer and team tartan tat. The owners on both sides are happy.

Ha, no, it's mainly my natural diffidence. But I could see him doing it for the experience too, and to see how the common folk are doing.

Not that he's above slighting people. He might do that occasionally. But less often when he could be using it as a chance to gather intel, and he actually wants/needs the intel.

So. Looks like he checked out both of the owners boxes then.
