This is not Rannoch and there are no ducks to feed, and Meaghan feels the loss. Just throwing bread in the ocean is not the same.

But she's feeling good about this. Well, she's feeling fine. If MacDonald was still around she'd feel great but they had Lorna MacbloodyFusty back again and that was pretty damn good and she wasn't gonna be bludgered outta the match with her on guard so she wasn't worried. It was gonna be fine.

........maybe she should get a little portable duck pond to take along for away matches.

Gwen was at the pitch extremely early, to no one's surprise; she's been speaking with reporters, fan clubs, team sponsors, prominent supporters, and other interested parties for more or less four days straight about the current situation, and today she's arranged a brief presser before the match, which Lorna, Pip, and Cav are ~~ordered~~ invited to attend before they go to the locker room to dress for the match. They've all been briefed on the company line about being excited for the new lineup and confident in their leadership, and ready to go out and give Montrose a good game. Anything else they say should be positive and forward-looking.

After fifteen minutes of benign questions, when a reporter manages to ask about the rumour that Isla Cameron was let go because she's Muggleborn, Gwen takes over. "First, let me correct you: Ms. Cameron was not let go. Leaving the team was her own choice; we respect that decision and cordially wish her much success in her future endeavours. Second, we at Portree embrace and welcome all witches and wizards regardless of blood status. We've always had players, staff, and fans from all backgrounds united under the proud mantle of Portree, and as our record of employing and celebrating Muggleborns shows, we certainly do not discriminate in any way. Now, our players have to get ready for the match. No more questions, please."

	Peggy is obviously here in the press scrum and helps by pitching serious strategy questions about Lorna and Pip to Gwen. It's not like she's ignoring the other stuff but she's focusing on the actual match and not the politics. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Rather begrudgingly, Lorna went to the presser before the match. She would have rather taken that time to go over more strategy in her head, but instead was paranoid about facing off questions or being too old or too rusty to play. Lorna kept to the company line though and answered how Gwen wanted her to answer. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Alasdair sits on a bench in the locker room, leaning back against the wall with his eyes closed. He isn't nervous, but contemplative - and he'll talk to anyone who wants/needs to before the match. He probably sticks closest to the Chasers, discussing their practises and strategies. He expects to be got at this match, and looks into passing to Joy and Scrim as much as possible.

Scrimmy sticks to Alasdair and Joy, and will totally let him talk strategy to distract her. She's super nervous but also super determined.

"We got this." It's a determined statement to any other ears but to Alasdair there's a question in there. He's their chaser leader after all, and with the rest of the team feeling like it's chaos, she's looking to her fellow chasers.

In the locker room, Lorna was nervous and was wishing she'd had more time with the team. She's confident to get back in as a beater, but not as confident about being Captain for this team. She's fine with Luag and Meaghan, Pip is new anyway, but she wished more so she'd had more time going over strategy with the chasers.

Still she got her game face (and match hair) on. Lorna would have mustered up some pre game speech about being honoured to play with the team and be their Captain, to give them confidence that above all she would help protect them out on the field, and she was looking forward to continuing to work with them.

Meaghan visibly perks up when Lorna speaks because it's Lorna!!! and she's here!! and the hair!! And it's like old times cept most everyone else is gone but and times were GREAT so they're gonna be again/still. And anyone who's feeling iffy about Lorna or about anything should just see from how Meaghan's looking that it's gonna be FINE.

Basically Portree Pride goes 200% and she's not at all worried about getting hit even with Yax out there gunning for her.

	Before she takes to the pitch, Ellie totally pulls Lorna aside for a moment. And gives her one single bit of advice (in Gaelic of course): "Show those crows what it's like to go up against the dragon." Scrimmy keeps trying not to look at Lorna because she's still not over the fact that this is real and it psychs her out.

But also she keeps peeking despite herself because seeing her in Portree robes, fierce match hair, and in all her legendary glory in the flesh...omg don't go into gushing fangirl mode you are a serious legit chaser and you are better than that. NOW STOP BEING A SCHOOLGIRL ABOUT IT

Joy is nervous. She didn't expect to be, because this rivalry isn't hers, she doesn't carry it, she's just here to play her damnedest. But what with all the personnel shifts and Ellie being turned up to eleven and everything, the jangling nervous energy has communicated itself even unto the blithe Aussie and she's feeling like she's not quite sure what's expected of her, how best to serve her team.

She masks it with her usual lockerroom pop mixtape, though she's a little distracted and not bopping around with quite her usual energy. And she tells the new folk to let her know if it bothers them and she'll go back to the earphones.

Scrimmy is full of nervous but more serious energy today. She's bouncing on the spot with a determined glare and trying to psych herself up.

A seeker out, cap down, a beater dramatically quitting, and a new legend back in as captain (she still can barely look Lorna in the eye because omg LORNA FREAKING MACFUSTY). There's a lot going on and she's trying to feel more sure of her position but it's hard to.

So Scrimmy tries to stick near her fellow chasers and get in the match groove with them. They can do this, they can do this. They'll be roasting these magpies damnit!

After fielding a few questions from the press, Ellie spends a good 10 minutes recreating how she hopes the match to go with little figurines. This occurs maybe 40 minutes before starting whistle in the locker room. It is not unlike watching a small child playing with toys, but with far more swearing.

Pip is represented with a moose
Lorna and Luag are dragons - obviously
Scrimmy is a dragonling
Joy is a Bunyip
Alasdair is a unicorn
Meaghan is a Chimera

The Montrose side is ~~poo~~ little rocks or pieces of trash.

If anyone comes to her for advice, she will simply act out a play with her little toys. It's cool. She's totally not losing it. It's funny. She puts on a very good show.

Minerva McGonagall and four seventh-year quidditch captains knock on the door and ask if they can come in and meet the team. Despite being dressed in Montrose colors, McGonagall claims strict neutrality. Recent grads probably know the captains and it's a friendly and fannish moment.

Minerva is proud to see so many people she taught making a living in wizarding's unique and special sport.

Tor spends some time in the lockerroom trying to rev up Portree. This is big and with all the tricks up their sleeve, he believes Portree to be UNSTOPPABLE.

When it comes time to announce the teams, its all on the line.

Portree's anthem starts playing through the speakers and Tor - wearing a charmed dragon costume - flies onto the pitch spewing charmed fire. after a few laps, the dragon costume is vanished away leaving him back as Laddie the Lion and letting out a roar loud enough to shake the stadium.

Before the current lineup is announced, Flower of Scotland is played for Oigrig and YOU BEST ALL BE SHOWING RESPECT.

Each of the players are announced to their theme song and when it gets to the beaters, Tor cues up Heart of the Dragon and roars loud as can be as both Macfustys fly onto the pitch together.

And of course, lets not forget Pip. Tor has passed out moose antlers and little canadian flags to the Portree fans and hwen pip flies out it starts out out as Oh Canada before morphing into the moose song and finishing off with lumberjack.
