Who: Maddie Savage, C.L.A.M.S. kids, Participants, and Random Guests (i.e., anyone who wants to be there, can be!)
What: Quidditch Exhibition for Kids in Need
When: 7 April 2000
Where: Rannoch Moor
Warnings: There better not be! This is a kid-friendly event!

C.L.A.M.S. Presents: Quidditch Exhibition for Future Players

Maddie arrived early to set up and make sure that all of the (seemingly hundreds) of moving pieces fall together the way they should. There had been more interest than they'd originally thought, no doubt because of the names that had gotten attached to the event, so her number of kids had swelled to almost double what they'd originally planned. Since the volunteer interest and funding for this event in particular had also been more than expected, things had come together rather neatly.

Almost too neatly. Maybe it was her innate cynicism, but she kept expecting something to go wrong.

The kids were already have a great time, though, even before the event started. They were all full of nervous energy, all dancing around in their matching shirts and waving the gift bags that Alex had put together for them. Occasionally, a well-informed kid would see a face they recognised and start shouting to the others, pointing out one of the volunteer players and calling out their names—which never ceased making Maddie laugh.

When finally their hosts appeared before them, the roar of cheering and clapping was almost deafening, and when the players took to the air, it felt strange for Maddie to not be among them. But somehow, also not strange at all. She grinned at the kids sitting next to her and settled in for the show, adding explanations as she heard questions around her.

[OOC Note: Feel free to NPC random kids as needed, but also interact with the other adults.]

After the main event, the kids get to divide up into smaller groups and get some up-close time with professionals and volunteers amateurs. What did your group do?

Dunbar is surprisingly good with kids. :O

He'll happily help any of his group out with riding on the toy brooms if they're wary or whatever.

(Do you suppose they're covered by any insurance to allow for very low altitude rides with players on actual brooms?)

I think low altitude is good. Probably there's a height restriction on it, and also cushioning charms. All of the kids would be of an age that they can handle that much (i.e., no toddlers).

True. Though I'd meant, and my bad for not clearing it up, that if they're (the players helping out) allowed to take the kids on their brooms at low altitudes

Sorry, yes. That was what I meant—yes to whatever you'd like to do. Not planning for any drama around this event, so do whatever you think is fun and within reason. :-)

Okie dokies then! XD And don't worry, the last thing Dunbar would want is an angry parent after him.

Hamish flies along some of the groups, talking to kids who wanna ask him questions. He tells them that he doesn't play quidditch, but when he gets enough interest he demonstrates a few random skills, including diving at the ground. Then he gets back to letting the players lead the groups.

Another attendee of this event in particular knows that Alasdair is good with children, and indeed wants some of their own, so it's of no surprise that the break out groups go well. Unlike others, he chooses to fly alongside the kids - he has some of the older ones with him flying their own brooms. He's a good teacher, showing the kids how to control their brooms with more subtlety, something they need to do when they're eventually able to fly at speed.

Hmm, wonder who that is? ;)

When she isn't busy helping out her own small group of kids her gaze usually follows wherever Alasdair is. No surprises there when she starts thinking of when they'd start teaching their own kids how to fly.
