Found a flat in Newington, which was actually decently priced and not one step up from student housing. Though it would make sense if it were student housing, considering how close the universities are. My mother wanted something in Morningside, but I’d stick out like a sore thumb.

You know, I am beginnng to wonder if being an only child a good thing. Both my parents have far too much time on their hands. Which, I’m aware that this is the most ridiculous complain I could ever have. Woe is me, my parents pay too much attention to me and love me too much.

I would just rather like to avoid the third degree when it comes to Monte.

I like them well enough. We had one when I was growing up- something in the family of a bull terrier, but definitely a mutt. Isla called him Sparkler, 'cause he'd go completely mental at Hogmanay, and they found him around then anyway.

My mum wrote to Ernie asking after you. Sent her contact information for him to forward. I half expect her to invite your parents around to tea or something.

If she does reach out, you’ll let me know, right? If I were to sort my parents into Hogwarts houses, my dad’s a Hufflepuff, but my mum’s a Slytherin. Not like a dickish Slytherin, but one of those that is thinking ten steps ahead in the chess game. She’s absolutely brilliant, but terrifying. And I’m her son.

My parents don’t like the idea off me living alone and want to get me a dog.

Never had a problem with dogs. Cats, on the other hand...I had to take a potion at school. I think that manky Mrs Norris knew. She was constantly trying to get tangled up in my legs and purring. Most of the Puff girls thought it was cute and endearing, but I know that cat was planning my doom.

She's good. About four months in, by her reckoning. Still complaining about having to get her clothes and robes altered. She's pretty hush- hush on whether I'm getting a niece or nephew yet. She sends her love, by the way.

Anyway, did she move in with the ~~bloke~~ the father? Or is she keeping her own place? Or did she do that already? Or is that not even a conversation they're going to have?

Well, they're getting married, so I'd hope she's moving in. Devon's pretty much over the moon for her, so I don't think he'd be okay with separate places. Besides, he's got a swank place in London proper, and Isla spends most of her time there anyway.

I don't know if supposed to is quite right. I'm not opposed to the idea by any stretch of the imagination. ~~I've wondered~~ [...] ~~I've thought about~~ [...] It's nice to have a place of your own, especially just starting out. You should get to have that experience.

And maybe in awhile we can revisit the idea.

Because I quite like it.

Want to talk about dogs instead? Dogs are a safer topic. Dogs won't mock you for forgetting about potions because Snape was an utter arsehat and you weren't ever going to get an O in the subject so why pay attention.
