Today is a different lineup than usual, they aren't playing a captain or vicecaptain, no lead chaser, no star seeker. What's more it's the seeker's first pro match and temp captain's first time captaining anything. So Merc takes a minute in the locker room to find each of them.

For Maddock it's just a clap on the shoulder and encouraging smile. "You've got this, Cannon Destroyer. Now take advantage of that free muggle move while you can." How little he knows about what good advice the latter will be.

Kenna he stops by to encourage with a bright grin and tell her she's ready for this. Don't try anything too fancy, just go out and outfly your competition. If things get slow, try to trick your competition into feints or a few races. It's good practice for when the snitch makes an appearance.

He doesn't have much of a pep talk or speech, and he dislikes doing strategy talks right before a match except to do a quick reminder. But today it's pretty simple.

"As of this bloc you are the Number One ranked team in this league. Now go out there and show everyone why that is."
