9a-12p »» Break!
Nothing official planned. Nap if you need it. (Please nap!) Time for one-on-ones if needed.

Saturday, 3 February, training 7am-1pm
Sunday, 4 February a day of rest. (you're welcome)

Amir nodded. It's why he wasn't complaining, and why he wanted to do his best and prove himself. It was just that he was new at this and had never pushed himself to these limits before.

"Yeah, okay," he agreed, doubting he could really fly anymore. But Maddie was right, it did help.

Maddie called out to Lorna to let their Captain know what they were about, then started off at a decent pace. Not so fast that Amir wouldn't be able to keep up when he was trying to shake grogginess, but fast enough to get some adrenaline going. She kept that speed for a few minutes, doing some loops and zig-zags to keep it from lulling them both to sleep.

"The important thing about pacing a Seeker," she called over her shoulder, grinning with anticipation, "is that you never know what we might have to do." Then she shot off a full speed toward the ground in an angle that wasn't strictly a dive, but that felt like one after all these hours.

Yeah, that definitely helped. But then she started diving toward the ground, or really, sloping, and his adrenaline surged. "YEAH!" he called out, suddenly feeling awake again. Though it was slightly harder than normal to stop himself BEFORE he hit the ground, he managed, even if that wasn't at all graceful.

Having watched his life flash before his eyes also served to make him feel more awake.

Maddie was doing this for Amir, but it certainly didn't hurt personally, either. She smiled into the wind as she flew, pulling up well short of the ground with ease—tonight was no time to try fancy moves, even if she was so inclined. She checked to make sure Amir managed, too, and grinned at him.

"Better?" she asked, even though she could tell it was just from the expression on his face. "The key to surviving long matches, other than general fitness, is attention. If things get monotonous, you're going to doze. Make sure you make something to focus on if the match isn't giving you something. It has the side bonus of taking the other team by surprise when they're dozing on their brooms."

"I've never played in a game that lasted that long." Or a professional game at all, but that was decide the point. "Maybe I'll be extra prepared now," he said.

Which was dumb. That was the point of the training. But even feeling more awake, his brain was still tired.

"How much longer do you think they'll keep us out here?" he asked, focusing his attention on keeping up with Maddie. He was learning a lot, and though he couldn't put words to it, he appreciated his teammates helping him.

"We all hope we never have to, and then inevitably it happens. I haven't even had the worst of it. Ask Lorna and Ellie about their World Cup experience sometime."

Maddie considered. "A couple more hours? I'd guess, anyway. We're starting to hit our respective endurance walls, so we've got to see how we do pushing through it. Make sure you crash at the clubhouse after. I'm sure there will be bunks set up." She glanced up to where the rest of the team was flying. "Let's head back up. Fly my way if you need another wake-up call." She winked at him and shot upward, glad for having had the momentary distraction.

World Cup experience... It took Amir longer than he'd care to admit to realise what Maddie was talking about. She was right, he should ask Lorna and Ellie about that sometime.

He nodded. "Yeah, crashing here sounds good. Well not right here..."

Flashing her a grin, he followed her back up to the group. He was going to make it through this, and he wasn't going to let it kill him.
