WHO: Everyone! IC/OC
WHEN: Thursday, 21 December 1999
WHERE: The Manor House, Macmillan Park
SUMMARY: Mid-Season (Christmas) Party hosted by the Montrose Magpies at Macmillan Park, cocktail dresses and blazers suggested.
RATING: Low

The Macmillan Family welcomes you to to Macmillan Park for the Mid-Season Yule party for all of Scottish Quidditch (and then some).

The Manor House is decorated for the season, with each room on the first floor having a display of its own. The public areas of the garden are also decorated and kept at a comfortable temperature (as long as you are wearing a cloak) with plenty of warming charms. Christmas crackers are available on all of the tables for all of your paper crown and terrible joke needs.

Finger foods and drinks (alcoholic and non) are plentiful. Eggnog can be made either way and if you want a hot chocolate with a splash of whisky, nobody is going to bat an eye. Entertainment is provided by the Tomnahurich Quartet and the Calanais Singers throughout the night in the main hall. A selection of seasonal songs in the muggle and wizarding traditions were planned, but both groups will take requests. They will be performing both together and separately.

For any children who joined their parents in the festivities, they have their own party going on upstairs in the rarely-used nursery (think very large and extensive playroom with bedrooms nearby and a schooling area). There are kid friendly foods, including sandwiches, personal pizzas in seasonal shapes, a Hot Chocolate Bar, and cherry flavored fizzy drinks. There are, of course, plenty of sweets to be had as well.

Out in the Garden

Part of that hurts and part of that sends him over the moon as he watches Georgi's face to key emotion to word.

"I- I don't know about any of that," he replies with a nervous laugh, trying to keep his hands still so he doesn't reach out to reciprocate contact, so full of nervous energy he might fly apart. "I'm mostly mess. Just in fancy dress at the moment." Another nervous laugh. "Aren't we all, though? A mess in fancy-dress?"

Georgi's not completely sure what he sees on Ernie's face, whether he's holding so still because of nerves, or whether that's good or bad, but he still has a little reserve of boldness left, and he takes a little step closer, without dropping his hand from Ernie's arm. "Maybe," he says, meeting Ernie's eyes. His cheeks are pink but his eyes are earnest. "Ernie? I want to tell you... I like you very much," he repeats, with particular emphasis and the raising of eyebrows, and goes even pinker.

His heart is an erumpent in his chest as Georgi moves closer - he's so close and he smells like... Ernie doesn't even know; his head is fuzzy and he's wondering if his glasses are making a mistake.

And then, fate is cruel.

"Ernie?"

The name out of Georgi's mouth isn't enough to make him jump, but turning to see his grandmother at the french doors does.

"Yes! Yes, coming - coming, Gran. Yes. Sorry, er." A breath, confusion chasing over his features, along with a flash of disappointment. "Sorry. I have to..."

Georgi takes a hasty step back, entirely red-faced and glad for the darkness, all his momentary courage gone and panic at his recklessness taking over. "Yes, of course, go, I will... I'll go too," is all he gets out; speaking is hard when his chest feels like it's being squeezed in a vise. "Sorry."

He doesn't exactly run away, but with his long legs he's gone in seconds anyway, off to make a few laps of the garden on his own until the heat fades from his face and he can go back in and pretend this strange, impossible moment never happened.
