WHO: Everyone! IC/OC
WHEN: Thursday, 21 December 1999
WHERE: The Manor House, Macmillan Park
SUMMARY: Mid-Season (Christmas) Party hosted by the Montrose Magpies at Macmillan Park, cocktail dresses and blazers suggested.
RATING: Low

The Macmillan Family welcomes you to to Macmillan Park for the Mid-Season Yule party for all of Scottish Quidditch (and then some).

The Manor House is decorated for the season, with each room on the first floor having a display of its own. The public areas of the garden are also decorated and kept at a comfortable temperature (as long as you are wearing a cloak) with plenty of warming charms. Christmas crackers are available on all of the tables for all of your paper crown and terrible joke needs.

Finger foods and drinks (alcoholic and non) are plentiful. Eggnog can be made either way and if you want a hot chocolate with a splash of whisky, nobody is going to bat an eye. Entertainment is provided by the Tomnahurich Quartet and the Calanais Singers throughout the night in the main hall. A selection of seasonal songs in the muggle and wizarding traditions were planned, but both groups will take requests. They will be performing both together and separately.

For any children who joined their parents in the festivities, they have their own party going on upstairs in the rarely-used nursery (think very large and extensive playroom with bedrooms nearby and a schooling area). There are kid friendly foods, including sandwiches, personal pizzas in seasonal shapes, a Hot Chocolate Bar, and cherry flavored fizzy drinks. There are, of course, plenty of sweets to be had as well.

"Journal replies." Maggie responds as casually as she can manage, given the circumstances. Grateful to have something ele to distract her (and her audience), she lightens up as they begin to dance. "It was one person's at first but now it's... unpredictable. And godawful. I got back to the staff lounge at the end of my shift this evening and found one of the healers had hidden it in the bottom of a soundproofed cabinet."

"Surprised they didn't stuff it in the trash, imagine having to explain to patients why you come in with a 'death is at your door' sound accompaniment." The neutral and slightly concerned poker face is still on for now, but he lets himself take some satisfaction in just how effective one little journal notification charm can be. Even better to make it temporary and be here for the last leg of unpredictability as it wears off.

"So just the one? Whose?"

"The thought had occurred to me." Thankfully, the onlookers seemed to have lost interest, and the silencing charms on purse had quieted the klaxon. For now.

Maggie made eye contact, just for a moment, before she suddenly became very interested in their interlocked hands. That's an interesting part of dancing, right? Oh, and that painting on the wall, that's also quite interesting. Oh, and the staircase!

A few seconds later, "Pegs."

"Ah. Dreading every Peggy comment." That amused twinkle in his eye returned. "Living in fear of when her quill will come down on you next..."

Now there was a slight smile, a triumphant hint to it.

"Seems appropriate."

Slowly, Maggie's gaze return to Alec's. Her eyes narrow. If the gears turning in her mind hadn't already picked up on it, his expression would have sealed it.

"You."

Alec just smiles, now more obviously in victory. Never officially admit to anything, first rule.

As they face off, the song came to a slow close. Alec lets go of her and takes a step back, smiling as he gives a little bow, for the dance and the whole performance.

"Wonderful dancing with you, Maggie. We'll have to do it again."

And in perfect timing, just a beat after the song finishes, the Ominous Foghorn makes its final wail, drawing disapproving looks from all the nearby dancers as Alec makes his exit into the staring crowd.
