WHO: Everyone! IC/OC
WHEN: mid-morning, Saturday, 16 December 1999
WHERE: Abercrombie & King Custom Brooms, Diagon Alley
SUMMARY: Grand Opening of the Store
RATING: Low

Aureliana had to remind herself that the grand opening for the storefront was supposed to be a celebration, but also laid-back, with the focus on the brooms rather than the party itself. A meet and greet with Jason took place several times throughout the event and kids could come in and enjoy the Build A Mini Broom station where they could "customize" a little palm-sized toy broom.

The centerpiece of the store was Jason's new racing broom for everyone to admire. If you were interested in purchasing a custom broom yourself, someone was available to make an appointment. For everyone who was not in the immediate market for a new broom, there was also a line of accessories available for purchase. Gloves, goggles, broom maintenance kits, and the like.

There is a selection of finger sandwiches, cheese, veggies, cupcakes, and Scottish shortbread to snack on. Butterbeer and sparkling wine are also available. For favors, there are little goodie bags filled with chocolate candies fashioned to look like brooms.

Chuck having been asking a few of the players a question of two then spots Lennox and heads over to him. "So are you looking at getting a new broom?" she asks as she sidles up alongside him.

Lennox’s hands clench instinctively, as if clutching his trusty broom to him. “No,” he said, a little flat. “I’m just here for Jason.”

Chuck held up her hands as if to say 'whoa'. "Okay... okay. I was just asking is all," she responds.

Lennox feels his anxiety kick in in defence, and takes the tiniest of steps back. “I know what I like when it comes to brooms,” he explains, flushing a little pink around his neck.

Chuck had only just noticed but decided not to comment on the move. "I'm guessing that'd be the broom you've got now then?" she asked gently.

Lennox nods. “I don’t like to change anything unless I have to.”

Many Quidditch players were superstitious, but with him it was more being set in his ways.

"Fair enough," she comments. "So am I allowed to ask what broom you do have?"

Lennox draws himself tall before replying. “A Comet 360,” he says, chin lifted in a defiant preparation for the inevitable.

"Ah, I see... It must be pretty good if you're still using it," she said.

Chuck wasn't quite nearly as knowledgeable as her sister or grandparents but she probably knew a bit more about brooms than most non-players and racers would. So she knew the Comet 360 wasn't maybe as 'fashionable' as compared to a Nimbus or Firebolt, but she knew better than to belittle especially after the one time she witnessed a player's reaction at a Harrier's match she attended with her opa when she was younger.

"No point changing things for the sake of it, I reckon," Lennox replied simply.

"Seems to be working out well for you though," she commented, with a bit of a smile. "Anyway I should probably get back to 'work' and get a few more quotes from people. It was really nice talking with you though, Lennox."
