Opening Night!

The opening of La Sirene, Little Wakanda's first nightclub, is finally here! Dinah has worked very hard to make sure the opening goes without a bang, and her hard work has definitely paid off!

Doors will open at 8PM, and as it is the opening weekend, cover charge is waived. There are drink specials all night, and a dj playing music for dancing. There bar and kitchen are both fully stocked and ready to go. While the opening is a 16+ event, anyone under the age of 21 will be carded, and Dinah has the best technology to detect fake ids, so probably not really smart to try it. Don't make her sic Helena on you. Trust me, that won't end well for you.

At some point, Dinah would taking the stage to perform a set, backed by a house band.

"Share!" Zari somehow managed to wave her bright pink drink at her friend without spilling a drop. The club scene was practically her second home, and she could navigate the room like a shark if need be. The cocktail was her second, and she hadn't bought either of them. Nice to know she still had it. She very brazenly checked Sharon out, giving her a slow once-over that ended in a wink and a smile. "Lady in red, looking like you could set this place on fire. There was no way I was going to miss a club opening. Especially not when it's being run by a pair of kick-ass ladies. How've you been?"

Sharon gave a little turn when Zari blatantly checked her out, then laughed playfully and leaned in to kiss her friend's cheek. She really needed a night out. With so much concern over the recent flight to space, and the other things that went along with the insanity of this place, a night out to dance and drink and have some fun was exactly what she needed. And with Zari here, it was bound to be a good time.

"I would never set the place on fire! Too many people. Too much stampeding." Sharon grinned to show she'd been kidding. "I've been good! Taking it easy. Taking it slow. What about you? You look fantastic. Those heels kill me. They kill me! Fantastic!"

"Not to mention having the fire marshal rock up to your opening is a social kiss of death. Having the police shut you down, on the other hand, depending on the reason, is almost a guarantee of instant success. But! Let's not tempt the Fates unless we absolutely have to. Two of them are completely catty bitches anyway. The third one's a sweetheart. Long story, but aren't they all?"

While she'd been nattering on, she'd taken Sharon's drink and was navigating a small, prime table that had just opened up. (See? Shark.) Zari stopped before sliding up on a stool to turn her heel out a bit and do her own turn. More than a few guys (and gals) were definitely watching them both from the dance floor. "Thanks, babe. I totally splurged. Did I tell you I've started a website? My follower count is climbing, and I've been using a tiny bit of lab space to work on the supplement business I had back home. I'm not sure if I can quite get to where I was before, but it's good to try at least. We can't all be jet-setting super agents."

She looked around the room, feigning innocence. "Any chance a certain Asgardian ruler might be in attendance tonight?"

"Excellent points, all. I wouldn't wish the kiss of death on this place. We've got to watch out for each other, after all." Sharon raised an eyebrow at her friend. "Are you name-dropping Fates, Zar?"

But then Zari had taken Sharon's drink and was working her way through the crowd to a recently opened table, and Sharon had no choice but to follow. "No, you didn't tell me that. What website? I'll have to be one of your many, many followers." She slipped onto one of the seats at the table, perching carefully on the edge. Sharon was one of those people who could name every exit around the room, every threat, every possible weapon. She had a count of how many lights were in the room, how many tables, how many employees, how many bottles behind the bar. All of it. "I'm sure you could be a jet-setting super agent if you put your mind to it." She reached for her drink to snatch it back and have another little sip, but paused with the glass half-way to her lips.

"What?" Sharon turned to look at her friend, feeling a warmth burning in her cheeks. "Who?"

"It's all about who you know these days." Zari gave her friend a broad wink. She could laugh about it now, but the horror the Fates had sewn in their lives at the time still lived deep down in her psyche. Good thing she wasn't about to unpack that anytime soon. She was out in a jumping club, now with her smoking hot friend. There was time enough for baggage later.

"Just look for 'dragongirlbites', you'll find me. It's not much yet, but it's giving me something to do." Zari had to laugh at the very idea of being in Sharon's position. "As a honeypot, maybe. Seducing my way into state secrets. Could be fun, and a sexy kind of dangerous."

And then she really laughed at her friend's reaction. "Wow, you are good! You know perfectly well who, Share. Please tell me he's coming out. I have an irrational need to see the two of you dance."

Sharon gave a little laugh at the wink. She shook her head. "No idea why you're hanging out with me, then. If it's all about who you know? You're wasting your time with a government cog in the wheel like me." An unwilling cog at that.

"Dragongirlbites. I've got you. I'll find it." She drew her data pad out of her pocket and started tapping the screen to open up the search tab. "I can absolutely see you as a honeypot. You'd be good at it. A honeypot assassin, even." Now it was her turn to wink.

Sharon shook her head, grinning softly. "We're not... like that. Definitely not in public." She lifted the glass to sip again. "Besides, this is absolutely not his scene. I would be shocked if he even considered coming out tonight."

"Don't sell yourself short, sweets. I know who my friends are, and my friends are always amazing." Zari reached out and lightly touched the back of Sharon's hand before withdrawing again and taking another sip of her drink.

She laughed, throwing her head back. "At the seduction part maybe, and I come ready made with my own handy-dandy mystical weapon, but I wouldn't exactly call it lethal. Something tells me the ancestors wouldn't look too kindly on me stealing the air from people's lungs. And, let's face it, I'd be putting people on social media blast left and right. 'OMG, here I am in sunny wherever, and you will not believe the genocide this high ranking general is planning! Hashtag-Assassin Z, hashtag-kicking ass, hashtag-CIA for life."

After she'd gotten her laughter under control, Zari nodded her understanding, and then grinned brightly at her. "That means I can steal a few dances! I'm seriously the winner here. Loki's got no idea what he's missing out on, other than some premium PR optics."

Sharon chuckled softly and nodded. "If you insist. I will take the compliment." She lifted her glass with her free hand and clinked it against Zari's before lowering it again. She hadn't had much of it, but she could tell that it was quite strong. She wanted to be able to drive back to New Asgard tonight, so she didn't want to get tipsy.

The list of hashtags had Sharon laughing. She shook her head. She had a vivid picture of Zari in a tight dress, holding up a peace sign, winking with duck lips at the camera, and a list of hashtags a mile-long underneath. "Hashtag Assassin Z. That's my favorite. You're getting saved in my phone that way."

Sharon felt either the alcohol or the compliment or the beautiful woman in front of her burning up her cheeks. "Can we finish our drinks first?" She asked, trailing a fingertip around the edge of the glass. "Or do you have to have those dances now? I have to warn you, I've got two left feet."

It was a really nice feeling to make people laugh, especially when much of the time she was generally being laughed at. Zari squealed in happiness and did a little dance on her stool. "I love it! I mean, I'll never live up to it, but it's fun to imagine."

Even with the flashing lights, she thought she detected a flush on her friend's cheeks, and couldn't help but think, Still got it. "Of course we can. You'd be surprised how much a little social lubrication can improve your dancing ability. And besides, all you've gotta do is follow my lead. I won't let you fall."

Sharon took a few swipes to steal one of Zari's images from her social media account, then used that as a profile picture for her friend's profile. Then Sharon changed Zari's name in her phone to #AssassinZ. It made Sharon laugh, so she held out the phone for Zari to see.

"Good. Because I wouldn't forgive you if you bruised me up. I have legs to show off in this dress, you know." She took another sip from the drink, then broke into a grin. "All right, let's get on that dance floor."
