Thanks to their intel, Tony knew it was coming before the tanks arrived. He'd called Steve first. It felt like the right thing to do. Next, he got T'Challa on the phone to let him know what was going down.

By 1pm EST, the compound knew. Steve chose to send a message over the network so that even those off-planet would know what was happening.

"Bad News. We have US military incoming. ETA is 1 hour. Do not engage.

Captain Rogers, King T'Challa, Carter, and I are handling this."

Tony knew, even as he sent it, this probably wasn't going to end well.

"Those on the K. Bacon, do not return to Earth. Please keep off comms for now. I'll update you soon."

When Ross arrived, Tony was standing outside of the compound with a small entourage. He kept his face stern, but he was not in his Iron Man suit. Instead, he was dressed in his suit and tie, as if attending a business meeting.

Ross's entourage was let in without much in the way to stop them. Tony had communicated they leave the heavy military outside, for now, warning that any show of force wouldn't end well for anybody.

When Ross stepped out of the armored vehicle, he removed his sunglasses and gave Tony the once over.

"Stark. What the hell have you done now?"

"I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Cut the bullshit, Stark. We know what's going on here. Wormholes crossing dimensions. And time. You're gathering a small army and you thought you could keep it hidden. You're lucky we didn't nuke your ass weeks ago."

Tony glanced at Steve, quietly willing him to hold back for now. "I don't think bombing a civilian research facility would look too well, do you? On American soil, no less."

Ross stiffened. "The only reason you're still around is because the US government has intel that there might be a bigger threat on the horizon."

"So you're not all stupid. Good. We can work with that."

**This is a MAJOR plot thread that will have long-term implications in game.

Any attacks made first against the military might end badly.

Characters' deaths are discouraged, but injuries are possible. If there is a battle, a dice roll will be used to determine winners/losers.

More threads will be added depending on the directions characters go (for example, a thread will be added if someone starts fighting).

An ending thread where characters can react to the outcome will be added later.

When Ross's men refused to listen to reason and despite various warnings, and went for the equipment.

There was no stopping them without getting aggressive. Tony had even tried to stand in the way, but it was too late.

And then it happened- the portal shut down. At first, nothing seemed to have resulted- then everyone in the facility would have felt it. A quiver in their gut followed by a pulse- something echoing through the air, enough to knock some people off their feet.

In the lab, the portals reopened suddenly and suddenly acted as a vacuum, sucking toward it anything it could. One of Ross's men, standing next to the portal, wast eh first to go. Then Ross, as he backed away, found himself tripping over a piece of wire and then was pulled through the machine, staring helplessly at Tony who looked on in horror.

In the end, four of the 6 team members Ross came in with, including Ross, and SIX of the members of the facility were gone...

And as the portal shut down again, Tony was left gaping in shock and horror at what they just witnessed, going to try to reopen the portal with no success.

**The following characters were sucked into the portal: Natasha Romanoff, Bucky Barnes, James Rogers, Jonathan Kent, Darcy Lewis, and Diana Prince.

Please explain below what your character was doing when they disappeared.

Other characters with powers and who were within range of the energy surge (around the facility) will notice immediate effects. Their powers may be gone or severely weakened.

Ross's second in command was a witness to the events and was immediately on the phone with the president, who talked to Tony.

The end result was that the president told Tony to 'get them back' and Tony said he would.

For now, the facility is 'safe'. The government will be keeping track of what they are doing, but they won't touch the portals based on what they saw happen. And because of T'Challa's clout with the UN, the refugees are currently untouchable as well (so long as they stay close by and out of trouble....in this universe).

So T'Challa was nearby because he wasn't backing down either during this confrontation but he wasn't close enough to get pulled in.

Once the portal starts sucking, he'll hold out an arm in front of Shuri trying to protect her even as his Dora Milaje attempt to protect him. (Actual Wakanda). Once things are done, he's obviously upset about Natasha and Bucky beinig taken through it, and likes Dr. Lewis and Diana too.

But he also knows he's not going to be the one to fix this. T'Challa will leave if Shuri does, or if she won't, until he's convinced that it will be safe for her at which point he'll leave Ayo with Shuri before stepping out to debrief with whomever else is around and wants to do that.

He's going to just ignore how weird he feels after that burst.

	Pepper is particularly upset about losing Diana, Darcy, and James. She had been hanging back at the facility during the initial talks to keep everyone calm, but joined the group in the portal room once they entered. (Reply to this) (Parent)

So, Jon was watching this go down like. "Wow. People here hate aliens real bad. And also like their superheroes? What's that about." But then his grandpa is a general and he's getting real Sam Lane vibes from Ross and he doesn't like it. Love ya, gramps, but you're a dick.

When the vacuum started, he would've probably been okay but he saw his roommate being sucked in and instinct took over. He wasn't sure what possessed him to think he could easily fly out of a vacuum that up close, but he tried to say James (if that's cool with James player! If not, then someone else.) And that's what got him sucked in. Darn need to help people.
