Who: Lucas Scott and Open
When: Day 31
What: Lucas goes for a swim.
Rating: Probably PG just to be safe.
Status: Complete.

Lucas had his hands in his pockets as he walked around the grounds of this strange new place he had ended up. He walked to the lake and looked at the water lapping. He decided it would be nice to go for a swim.

He walked back to his room and got a pair of swimming trunks. He changed into them and grabbed a towel. He walked to the swimming pool and put the towel down near the pool. He dived into the water and did a lap of the pool.

Swimming was never George's favorite thing to do, ever since the childhood near-death experience thing brought on by nearly drowning at the bottom of a swimming pool. However, the jacuzzi she had tried days before was calling out to her, after a very bad flu that had left her joints painfully stuck, and her back muscles feeling like hardboard. She needed those massage jets.

As soon as she thought this, a green bikini appeared on the bed. George smiled, picked it up, and wore it under jeans and a t-shirt. Then, she got her flip-flops on, took the towel that had appeared next to the bikini and went to the pool/jacuzzi area.

Apparently, however, she wouldn't be alone. Someone was already swimming in the pool. Once she looked closely, her eyebrows lifted dangerously high and she smiled.

Some part of her felt a little too shy to strip to her bikini, but he probably wouldn't notice. He was swimming, after all, not spying on what other people were doing with their leisure time like she had was. Not the time to be acting like a teenager; George had her pride.

George took off her jeans and t-shirt, tossing them to the side of the jacuzzi and got in, sighing loudly at the warm goodness of that wonderful water.

Lucas didn't notice that he was no longer alone until he heard someone sigh loudly. He was a little startled by the appearance of someone else in the pool but he recovered quickly.

"Hi," he said to the girl who was in the pool with him. He offered her a warm smile.

George leaned her head back on the jacuzzi wall and closed her eyes after her sigh, which made her quickly sink into a state of peaceful distraction, so when she heard a male voice greeting her, she splashed her feet and hands on the water and sat up, completely startled.

"What?" She looked ahead. It was the guy from the pool. Boy, was he... George couldn't even finish. "Hi." She said, smiling awkwardly back at him.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," he said apologetically. He moved his arms in the water to keep him afloat.

"I'm Lucas," he said. "It's nice to meet you."

He didn't know that many people here so he was hoping he could get to know a few more people.

"It's okay." George said, smiling - a little less awkwardly this time. "I'm George. Nice to meet you too."

She was feeling a little hot, maybe the jacuzzi water wasn't at the right temperature. She would have to check the buttons and whatever else she had no idea what to do with. It crossed George's mind that the newest additions to the planet were definitely great choices.

He swam a little closer to her, hoping that she wouldn't mind his closer proximity.

"I've never met a female George before," he said smiling softly at her. "Actually come to think of it, I don't think I've met a male George before either."

George sighed nervously as Lucas swam closer. She definitely wasn't used to bare chested wet men. Cute as hell bare chested wet men, even less so.

"Well..." She began, adjusting her position "Technically, it's Georgia. But I'd like you to forget that bit of information. Please."

He laughed a little.

"OK, I promise I won't call you that ever. Have you been here long George?" he asked.

George laughed along with him.

"Not that long, almost a week. What about you, when did you get here?"

George smiled. "I'm fine. I've been bored, then I found something to do, then everyone else made friends but I was in bed with the flu, so...I didn't. This place is weird, but I don't think we're in danger, so..." She was digressing, so she stopped talking and shrugged. "Anyway, how are you dealing with it?"

"OK, I guess. Well as well as can be expected. Everyone I've met so far has been really nice. And you've made a friend now," he said softly, smiling warmly.

George smiled pleasantly, surprised by how nice Lucas actually seemed to be. You don't say that if you're not either stupidly nice, or a psychopath. George hoped on the first option.

"Eh...Thanks..." She said, too embarrassed to say anything else.

"Totally. Yes, it is." George said, swallowing hard. Too damn nice, she wasn't used to this. Not even Mason, whom she considered a brother of sorts was that pleasant and nice throughout a whole conversation.

Taking a deep breath, George placed her elbow on the edge of the jacuzzi, supporting her face with her hand.

"So where - and when - did you come from?"

"I'm from Tree Hill North Carolina but I was going to college in Gilmore. And I'm from the year 2009. And you?" he asked. She seemed really nice and he was glad that he's met her.

"Seattle, 2008 when I was pulled." She told him, closing her eyes once the jet hit her lower back right where she had been feeling pressure. "You went to college, huh..." She said, smirking as she remembered her own college fiasco. Boy, what a bunch of bullshit.

"Yeah. I was studying literature. And I worked there as the basketball coach. You go to college?" he asked.

((OOC: It shows up for me. I'm sorry, though. Here it is.))

Literature? George wasn't expecting that. Was this guy the overly sensitive type, or was she just being mean and prejudiced? Maybe he was the cool type of literature buff. The one who can quote the right things at the right times...
And of course he played sports. Of course.

"I...tried." She said, looking around her moving only her eyes. "Didn't work out. I joined the workforce instead." Nice way of putting it.

"Well college isn't for everyone," he said. "Two of my friends never went to college and one of them now runs a multi-million dollar fashion line. As William Henley said 'I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul'."

George sighed faintly and looked at her feet, her toes popping up off the water.

"I'd like multi-millions..." She muttered, almost under her breath. "My mother was wrong. I think I would love to shove this you just told me in her face." She mused, smirking. Just to see what counter-argument Joy would come up with. Those were good times.

She nodded solemnly at his quoting. Right on time, too.

"Parents can often be wrong," he said quietly as he thought about his own father. Well his biological father anyway. He'd never been a real father to him.

"If my mom had listen to my dad I wouldn't be in this pool right now."

George looked at Lucas' expression changing, as hers did too. She assumed he meant his father wanted his mother to abort, and she didn't comply. Of course to each their own beliefs, but George knew how most stories like this went. She watched a lot of tv movies during Spring Break.

"Well, good thing that she didn't..." George muttered, trying to smile.

George smiled back.

"Public service sector, mostly." She answered. She was getting better and better at euphemisms for what she actually did. "And I work in a temp agency."

It was a good thing that she seemed to tolerate being wet quite well, otherwise she would be definitely looking a little weird and wrinkly right about now. Still, it was worth it, good company and bonding. She needed that after the boring and generally awful last few weeks.
