WHAT: Group Activity - Boating
WHEN: Day 31, Early afternoon
WHERE: The lakefront
RATING: PG-ish?

Alright, so that had been a lot more fun than she'd been expecting. Mercy was an interesting woman, and Faith didn't have that opinion about many of her own gender. Most women, she'd found, were shallow, vapid, uninteresting people only into makeup and clothing. Not her type at all. Mercy, however, had a brain in her head, and almost despite herself, Faith had been drawn into conversation with her. She was glad that they'd spent the time together that they had.

Actually, it might have gone on longer if the group activities hadn't come calling. She'd seen others being dragged off, but didn't make the connection that it would happen to her. And since she wasn't in her room, she didn't get the note that said she was supposed to be at the lakeside. The first she knew of it was when she was hoisted into the air by a large humanoid form that seemed to be made of stone and carried away. On the plus side, she got to exercise her rather extensive collection of swear words as the thing carried her.

Fighting, surprisingly, was completely ineffectivel. She was held in such a way that she couldn't get her full strangth behind any of the attacks. Of course, she wasn't the type to give up. When the thing finally deposited her by the side of the lake, she was still fighting and cursing her head off. The golem seemed to not care in the slightest. There didn't seem much point to continuing to insult it, but she didn't let that stop her.

"Oooh, that's it, bitch. Yeah, you'd better run, or I'm coming for your ass!" Of course, the thing wasn't running, it was simply stumping away, but it made her feel better to say it. Then, she turned around to see where the hell she was.

Shannon woke up to the sensation of being watched, bolting up from her place on the floor - the bed had been so comfortable it'd been uncomfortable since she was so used to sleeping on the sand - with wide eyes and a pounding heart. For a second, she forgot where she was, because it was a feeling she knew so well that she'd thought she was back on The Island.

But then, she looked around and took in the surroundings. Still on Mirage...and then she spotted the stone creature standing over her and she screamed, scrambling away from it and getting to her feet. "Jesus Christ!" she gasped. "What the fuck?!"

The golem held a note out to her and she snatched it, looking down at it to read. When she finished, she shook her head and handed it back. "Dream on," she replied, frowning. "Not happening."

Granted...it was boating, which meant there was a possibility of sailing and sailing was one of the few things Shannon actually liked. Plus, she'd seen Sam Tyler's name on there and she'd had yet to meet him in person, which could be interesting.

But, it was still one of the forced, supposedly fun activities and she wanted no part of it. If she was going to do something, it was going to be on her terms.

...or, as it would seem, the golem's, because it lifted her over its shoulder and carried her all the way out to the lake. She went, indeed, kicking and screaming the whole way.

The golem dropped her unceremoniously down on the ground and started away. "You think just dropping me there is gonna make me stay? You wish," she said, starting back toward the resident building. The golem turned around and cut her off. Shannon took a step to the right, so did the golem. She took a step to the left and it did, too.

That was when Shannon noticed the other woman. "How do we get these creepy things to go away?" she asked, frowning, continuing her pointless dance of back and forth, complete with attempted fake-outs of which the golem was a step ahead every time.

Sam was always an early riser, and couldn't help but feel like he was being watched. His eyes were instantly drawn to the golem, a note in hand. He'd been use to these things since he was now constantly seeing them dotted around. Glancing at the note, he raised his eyebrows, but didn't like the look on the golem's face.

So he would have to go then...

Quickly dressing in what would seem appropriate for the activity. He was taken there by the golem, and when he approached, he spotted two women. As he got closer, the golem began to walk away. But somehow he didn't think he'd have that option.

"Hello," he said a bit unsurely.

Faith was still fuming about being dropped off like a bad child at grandma's when someone else arrived. And actually, it was interesting because she had arrived in exactly the same way as Faith had. She stopped swearing at the golem, more interested in the impromptu dance that the newcomer was apparently doing with a golem of her very own.

"These things are little bitches..." She smirked at the creature and then shook her head. "I don't think we got a choice here, chica." Idly, she wondered if she could fight these creatures off, but they looked hard. She wasn't sure she wanted to be hitting one of them, and she sort of thought it would be pointless, anyway. She's struggled as it carried her, and it had had no effect at all, not even the slightest bit.

She was cut off from her reflections on the subject by someone else arriving, this time on his own power and not carried by a golem. She gave him a sketchy little salute. "Sup? You here to find the fun, too?" She raised an eyebrow at him and looked him over, in pretty much the way that she looked everyone she met over. Not the soul of subtlety, obviously.

"Well, party peeps, looks like we're gonna do this thing." She watched as a golem started preparing a boat for them. "Got shit all of an idea how the hell to do this, hope you're better off."

Shannon glared at the golem and then looked back at the other woman again. "Yeah, no kidding," she muttered. She didn't reply to the other woman's statement about not having a choice. "Fucking jerk," she snapped at the stone creature and gave it a good swift kick. "God dammit!" she screamed in pain. It had seemed like a good idea at the time, anyway...

Dropping down onto the ground and holding her sandal-clad foot in one hand and looked up when she saw a man approaching. Was he Sam or Jack? "Hey," she muttered, still frowning.

Her gaze went back to the other woman and then she looked over at the golem preparing the boat. "Ugh, he's not even doing it right," she snapped irritably, getting to her feet and limping toward the golem. "Move," she commanded and took over when it side-stepped. "Bowline knots do not take a fucking rocket scientist," she grumbled under her breath as she untied the weak and badly done attempt the golem had given. Nimbly, she retied it tightly the correct way and stepped back. "There. God, how hard is it?" she asked, looking over at the golem. "If you're gonna force us to go boating, the least you could do is tie the fucking knots so that the shit actually works and nobody ends up in the lake," she added.

Looking back at the other two, she swept a dismissive hand toward the boat. "The sooner we do this, the sooner we can go back to our rooms," she pointed out. "So, come on."

Sam laughed a little as he watched the blonde take over working the boat. The golem didn't seem to like that, but decided it best to back off. He looked back at the brunette, nodding to her question.

"I guess I'm here for the fun, yes. And I have a slight idea about some of this but I'm not a big sailor."

He looked back at the blonde, smiling a little.

"That looking forward to it?" he said with a hint of sarcasm.

Faith didn't really enjoy the company of very many girls. Mostly, she figured, they were jealous of her. Or so she told herself to stave off insecurity, which was something she didn't want to admit she had. This Shannon chick, she decided, was alright. She had a similar attitude to Faith, and she found herself almost liking the blonde.

Letting her get the boat ready, assuming she would be told if there was anything she could do to help, she leaned casually against a nearby tree and watched. Slowly, her attention turned to Sam.

"Well, let's do it, then." When the boat was ready, she sidled over and stood nearby. She tried not to eye the contraption warily. "Want me to put it in the water?" She knew that, realistically speaking, she could easily pick up the boat and literally carry it into the water, if that was needed.

"You don't have to be a sailor to figure this out," Shannon spoke up, overhearing the man. "God knows I'm not a sailor," she pointed out. "It's not that hard."

She ignored his sarcasm and turned her eyes on the other woman. She was actually really pretty and for Shannon to think so, that was saying an awful lot. Maybe Shannon could stand being around her, since she wasn't some homely chick like half the rest of the world.

"Yeah, actually," she replied, "if you can," she added. The boat was bound to be at least a little heavy, especially with the sails adding to the weight, but if the girl thought she could move it, then more power to her. Someone needed to, anyway, and Shannon felt she'd already done her part.

Sam was about to offer to help the woman push the boat in, but had never been one to underestimate the strength a woman could have. Besides, he hated acting like he was the big strong man when a woman thought, or knew, she was capable. So he stood back and waited, but knew if she needed help he'd be willing. Of course, he wanted to seem a gentleman, so had to offer.

"Need me to do anything?" he asked, hands in pockets, looking slightly lost.

Faith nodded and shrugged. She knew that she was a capable young woman, and that if she had really wanted to, she could probably figure out how to get the boat working. Probably. Shannon, however, showed a dexterity that Faith found herself admiring. She smiled at her, a rare sign of favor insofar as it wasn't a mocking expression at all.

"Cool." She turned her attention to Sam and raised an eyebrow. "Get into the boat, I've got it." His weight would hardly make a different, she was well aware of that. As she waited, she put her hands experimentally on the end of the boat - she had no idea what it was called - and rocked it slightly.

Once he, and the lovely blonde girl, were on, it was a simple matter. With a strength that in no way matched her tiny form, she pushed the boat well out into the lake. Once it was no longer scraping on the bottom, she jumped, grabbed the railing of the boat, and launched herself onto the rocking deck. "Well, let's get this over with."
