Party thread!
-Who: Everyone!
-What: Party time!
-When: Day 27, from 5 in the morning carrying on until 5 am the next day when everything will get cleaned up by the golems
-Where: Ballroom, club, bar, places around there
-Status: Complete
-Rating: Who knows! Could go from anywhere between G and R!

If one were to walk into the ballroom after 5 am, they would find brightly colored streamers hanging across the walls and from the ceiling. Confetti was constantly fluttering down from the ceiling, as if the tiny pieces were snow themselves. Tables had been set up along the wall with plates, silverware, and all sorts of food imaginable. The Planet had made sure to include everyone's favorite food on the menu. The dessert table was huge. There was also a drink table nearby, complete with a bar and a few golems manning it to monitor the intake of drinks as well as serve them up. The Planet seemed to be either apologizing for all the people missing or wanting the remaining people to get together and meet each other again.... or perhaps it was a little bit of both.

"South Croydon... I could swear that you said...." Feigning amnesia he only nodded as Sarah's train carried her back to the task at hand. "Seems like Violet is a good friend already," he remarked off handedly.

Much to his amusement he saw the face of Sarah Jane go a bit blank there for a moment as she tried to process exactly what the dimension cannon was. He loved when she did that, just nodded like she understood and filed it away for later questioning. It was really wise, when one thought about it - sort of letting the other person keep on rambling and circling back around later if you felt the need to.

"I'm not sure what I think the planet is - but the only way to find out is to ask it," he nodded affirmatively. He didn't like to think about the possibility of it being an alien with the sheer amount of power that the supposed planet had displayed. The Shadow Proclamation would not be happy to hear of a race weilding power this great at all.

"I'm also not entirely sure that it's the planet or aliens. I'm fairly certain that the idea of a sentient planet gives me the warm and fuzzies, however," who didn't think the idea of a feeling, talking, loving planet was just serene, anyway?

Well, then, apparently sentient planets were indeed possible. If the Doctor was working on the assumption that it was possible, then it must be. Sarah Jane wasn't exactly sure how she felt about that. Then again, she wasn't sure she was happy about aliens just snatching people for their own amusement either.

"The only things I've seen that classify for our purposes as 'aliens,' are those golems," Sarah Jane said. She turned back to the bar and inclined her chin to indicate the stone creature serving up drinks. "They know what you want before you ask for it, almost. One brought me a cup of tea this morning, and it was the same tea I'd had at home before being brought here. I didn't ask for the tea, it just offered the cup." She turned back to the Doctor. "But, they don't say a word. At least, not that I've been able to determine. They can't, or won't, speak aloud. If this is a sentient planet, then I think it might be using them as sort of care-takers, or go-betweens. Could you use one of them to try and talk to the planet?"

Even as she said it, she wondered what in the world she was saying. Honestly, five minutes back in his company, and the Doctor had her rattling off technical babble like it was everyday speech. Of course, for him it was. He'd love Luke, if he ever got the chance to meet her son properly.

There went Sarah Jane, back to being clever and observant, it's almost like she'd never left the TARDIS, really. Did he ever admire her.

Peeking over her shoulder he scrutinized the golem rather closely, trying to make sense of the creature. "Maybe it's a life form.. Or just a puppet? Oh, my brain feels like mush..." He rubbed his forehead feeling a bit frustrated with the whole thing. As much as the Doctor adored new and exciting things this whole day had been altogether new and old at once.

Pulling up a bar stool he slumped, momentarily ignoring the golem, content to just be still, even if only for a few minutes. "I never actually thought I'd get stuck somewhere, you know," that was what his brain kept screaming at him: You're stuck! He didn't like being stuck, it made him feel all... sticky.

Just then over trundled one of the golems, banana shake in hand. The creature held it out and the Doctor felt rather compelled to take it rather than waste the planet's energy, waste not want not and all that.

"Oddly enough this isn't making me feel any better at all."

"If your brain's gone to mush, what does that make mine?" Sarah Jane asked, chuckling. She followed the Doctor's example and took a stool for herself. Standing around for too long probably wasn't a good idea. Her brow creased as she watched the Doctor's face crumple, and she realized exactly how hard this was hitting him.

"You'll figure it out, Doctor," she said, patting his arm. "You always do. You're brilliant at escaping." She grinned. "So many times, back when I traveled with you, I thought: this must be it. This time, we've run out of luck. And you'd do something horribly clever and nip us out just in time. If you can outdo Sutekh, this should be a piece of cake." What made her think of the Osiran, she wasn't sure, except that fighting something akin to a god was the time she'd felt most vulnerable. She still saw the barren alternate 1980 in her sleep sometimes.

She looked at the drink the golem brought over to him and raised an eyebrow. "Do you drink now?" she asked. She couldn't tell if it was alcoholic, but it vaguely resembled a pina colada, to her tired eyes. The golem turned back to the bar and returned a moment later with a tall glass of water and offered it to her. "Thank you," she said, taking it and sipping at it. The golem didn't give any sign of acknowledgment to her thanks.

"Oh, now you're just trying to puff up my ego," he said in a jovial tone as he used his straw to scrape the whipped cream from his drink and deposit it right into his mouth.

"This feels different, Sarah Jane. I don't know how, or why, but it's not like the other things we've faced," it was so different it almost made the indelibly optimistic doctor question his outlook. Taking a long pull from the shake he felt a bit more resolute. "Though, I'm quite certain there isn't anything the three of us won't come up with," he was rather convincing as he said that, so much so he started to believe it himself. It was like one of those human questions as to whom you'd trust to get you off the desert island. Sarah and Rose would be in his top five.

"Drink? Oh, no. Banana shake," he said cheerfully, delighted as his next sip again failed to drain the thick liquid to the bottom.

"Have I ever tried to puff up your ego?" Sarah Jane said, looking him in the eyes. She tried to hold a serious face, but the smile cracked through her stoic attempt. She laughed and shook her head a little. "It's not as if it's needed puffing, you know." She grinned at him, then forced herself to become serious again as he explained his feelings.

Fortunately, his natural optimism wouldn't let him dwell on misgivings for long. That was one of the things she'd always admired about him. He admitted, occasionally, that he might be in over his head, and then went along and overcame whatever it was anyway. She nodded resolutely. "And it's not just us, after all," she said, looking out over the crowd of people in the room. "They're all in the same boat we are. And I'm sure most of them are as anxious to find a way home as we are." She let her eyes roam over the mostly younger crowd. How many mothers or sons or siblings or lovers were here, separated from their families? It was inhuman. Then again, she reasoned, so was whatever brought them here, quite literally. She thought she'd gotten out of the habit of applying human morals to aliens, but clearly, she had more work to go on that project.

"Good," she said, looking down at the Doctor's drink. "I don't know if I could take you *drinking* drinking. It would ruin my image of you." She grinned cheekily as she said this, and took another sip of her water. Brandy with the Brig was one thing, after all, but ordering up at the bar was something entirely different. She looked back at the shake. "I didn't realize you were fond of bananas," she said. "Last I saw you, it was oranges."

[[Sorry, I fail at life!]]

Rose had been quiet most of the time, letting the Doctor and Sarah Jane catch up. Of course, she was exceptionally happy to see Sarah Jane also, but she knew how much she felt for him, having somehow seen herself in Sarah. She stayed quiet, her hand never leaving the Doctor's unless it had to, in which case she found some way to still touch him gently, almost as if she was afraid he would disappear. She heard them mention the Dimension Canon and her attention was drawn to them quickly, but knew questions were for later. She was too busy glancing around the room, trying to see if she could find out anything. But her mind seemed to switch off, and she was almost no longer in the room, she was back travelling, searching for some monster or other.

Suddenly her hand dropped from the Doctor as he sat down and she sat down next to him, her eyes remaining on the people around her. She surveyed the golems with such interest, she was surprised they didn't address her on it.

Having searched and thought as much as she could, she finally allowed herself to come back to the present, and listened in quietly to the conversation. When it turned to the Doctor drinking and his fondness of banana's, she couldn't help but grin.

"I'd love to see you drunk, Doctor. After all, seen you pretending. Time for the real thing I think," she nudged his leg with her own, then smiled at Sarah Jane. "You'd think there was nothing else better in the universe the way he goes on about banana's."

"Sometimes even I need a cheering squad, Sarah Jane," He said this with a bit of humility of course. It seemed to get more and more rare that the Timelord found himself being humble - he always needed to be the one with the plan, the bringer of solutions; once in a while it was nice to just be reminded that he really could be that person.

He watched as she surveyed the crowd, each face seeming to have it's own brand of anxiousness or trepidation. All of them had lives they'd been sucked out of - she was right, he possibly wasn't as alone as he thought. Well, he knew that he wasn't all that alone the moment he found Rose and Sarah Jane; but, the more he thought about it was much larger a group than just they three.

"Oh, oranges are nice and all; changing palatte with the regeneration, I suppose. As long as it's not pears. Skip the pears..." He rambled off, scratching the top of his head as he thought more about the concept of the taste buds in his mouth.

"So, I suppose the next step is to do a bit of handywork in the TARDIS, getting those psychometric sensors alligned. Shouldn't take much, I don't think. Though, I will be needing a few extra pairs of hands... At least four, I think..." He was thinking of the consol with it's gauges and dials. At least four, yes.

"As to the bananas, the world would be a much better place with more of them..."

Sarah Jane smiled at the Doctor and reached out to pat him on the arm. "We all do, from time to time," she said quietly. "But you are brilliant, Doctor, and if anyone can find a way to get us all home, it's you. With a little help from us, of course." She looked over to Rose and winked at her.

She laughed at the idea of the Doctor pretending to be drunk. It must have been quite a sight. "Well," she said," at least bananas are a bit healthier to go on about than jelly babies. You know, I can't pass them by at the store without thinking of you whisking them out of your pocket any time we met someone." It had been a wonderful disarming technique, Sarah had realized over the years. When he'd first done it, she'd thought he was mad. But, by the time she'd been dropped off in Aberdeen, she'd seen what a brilliant trick it was. Perhaps his newfound penchant for bananas was similar?

The idea of visiting the TARDIS again cheered Sarah Jane immensely, and she nodded eagerly at the Doctor's mention of working on the old girl. "Count me in for one pair of hands," she said. She looked over to Rose. "And I don't doubt you're in as well, Rose. So, that leaves two more pairs of hands, does it?"

Rose grinned at Sarah Jane, silently agreeing with her. She wasn't about to sit back and let the Doctor have all the fun. She listened in to his rambling, only now realising just how much she'd missed it and found her hand slipping into his again without meaning to. Somehow it still seemed so natural, as if they'd never stopped. When Sarah Jane mentioned about the Doctor in the past, and apparently he had a thing for jelly babies.

"Wait...He offered jelly babies to anyone you met?"

She had to hold back a giggle at that. After all, to her the thought was rather funny. She nodded along with Sarah Jane as she offered to help work on her.

"You know I'll help. I always will."

"Well, there isn't anyone in the universe who doesn't enjoy a good jelly baby..." The thought sort of made his brain twitch in an odd sort of way - when was the last time he'd had one, anyway?

He felt Rose's hand slip right into his own in a comforting sort of way. In honesty, he wasn't quite used to Rose being quite so, well, clingy. That's not to say he didn't completely understand it - being seperated by a wall of time and space can do that to a person especially if the last mode of communication was devoid of touch. It's not to say the newly touch-centric Rose was making his skin crawl, either; it was just something new to take in from her.

"Two pairs down, then, at least," His mind was fluttering. "Oh, and a nice little mind, too. I think I have just the psychic for our job..." He was thinking of Andy, that nice cannibis-enjoying, mind pushing, newfound friend of his. A plan was taking shape in the Doctor's mind.

Sarah Jane laughed as he defended the jelly babies. She hadn't heard him say anything like that in years. She looked over at Rose. "See? Exactly like that. And then he'd offer them up in a little paper bag, like this," she mimed with her glass of water. "It's nice to know that some things don't change, Doctor."

She raised an eyebrow at him as he mentioned a psychic. "Psychic?" she asked. She looked over the crowd again. Not that you could tell by looking who had enhanced brains, but she still felt the need to. "Who here is psychic?" she asked. She cast a worried glance at Rose, then at the Doctor.

Rose giggled along with Sarah Jane, listening with a smile as she was told of a small quirk the Doctor once had. She had to admit, she liked this sort of thing. Hearing about how the doctor once was. It made her feel more of a part of his life.

Her interest was spiked as much as Sarah Jane's at the mention of a psychic. She, however, did not follow her in the glance around the room, choosing instead to keep her eyes on the Doctor.

"Wouldn't be fair turning 'em out like that," He said with a rather explicit poker-face. If Andy wanted people to know what he was capabable of he would come out and tell them all on his own; wasn't the Doctor's place to start some sort of witch hunt.

A thought came buzzing into his head and the Doctor knew he had quick business up in the TARDIS.

"Can I leave you two just for a moment? I just need to go push one little button and I'll be right back," He said this reassuringly looking at Rose as he gently removed his hand from hers. "I'll be back in just a tick. No reason for you two not to enjoy the party while I'm away!"

Less than gracefully he turned, snaked back through the crowd and out into the snow again. He just needed to start some caluculations now so that his plan can start later. One little button push.

Sarah Jane nodded. She supposed not. It might alarm people, and make them target whomever it was unfairly. "Can you at least say whether this person is responsible with their powers?" she asked.

Then, before she could get an answer, the Doctor was up and excusing himself. Sarah slid to her feet as he got up to leave, and smiled at him. "One little button?" she echoed. She cast a glance at Rose. "That means he'll be off for ages," she said, grinning and shaking her head, as he headed out through the crowd. Once he'd disappeared into the mix of people, she took her seat again.

"How have you been, Rose?" Sarah Jane asked. She hadn't really been able to talk to the girl during that affair with the Daleks, and then afterward she'd had to get back to Luke so quickly. "I'm glad to see that you survived that business on Canary Wharf." She shook her head. London's Torchwood had behaved horribly, in her opinion. Just as well her UNIT connections had been able to keep that lot from meddling with her affairs too much.

Rose couldn't help but feel a little put out as the Doctor left and she sunk a little into her seat. Her hand already felt strange, after finally getting to hold his for a long space of time. Then Sarah Jane was talking to her and she had to pull herself away from her thoughts.

"Fine. I was...in an alternate reality, so I guess you could say I survived. How about you?"

Alternate reality? Sarah Jane knew about those, at least a little bit. "Sideways in time," she commented. "But at least you were alive. Was it quite different to our world?"

She smiled as Rose asked about her. "I've been doing well. Seeing the Doctor again and meeting you and Mickey, it revitalized me, in a way. I found there was a lot I could still do that would help the Earth and the aliens who end up here by accident or design. Sort of went freelance, if you will." She took a sip of her water. "And then, I ended up stopping an alien group called the Bane from taking over, with help from some of the neighborhood kids no less, and found Luke. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be sitting here. He had no family, no home, so I took him in and adopted him."

Thinking about her son, home alone, worried her, but Sarah Jane determined not to let it ruin her reunion with Rose. "He's brilliant, Luke. Reminds me a bit of the Doctor, in that he knows an awful lot about everything, especially everything scientific, and often times I'm left wondering what exactly he's just said or done. Yet, he's still not fully aware of himself in social situations." She chuckled lightly, thinking just how like the Doctor her son actually was. If only they'd been able to meet properly; they'd have taken an instant liking to one another, she was sure.

"It was slightly different, I suppose. And we were ahead of your timeline."

She listened as she described her life since they last met, smiling at the adventures she seemed to be having despite declining the offer to come with them. She seemed happier in this life than she was back with the Krillitanes. Her smile grew wider at the mention of her son and she couldn't help but notice how much Sarah Jane seemed to adore him just through her description.

"He sounds brilliant."

"So you knew who won the election for PM ahead of us?" Sarah Jane joked. That must have been odd, going to an alternate world and being ahead in time. Everyone you knew just a bit off and a few years older than you remembered? "Did you get to say goodbye to Mickey?" she asked, remembering the young man who'd been so excited to go along with them, even if he tried to play it "cool".

At Rose's assessment of her son, Sarah Jane beamed. "If only you could meet him," she said. "When we figure out how to get home, I'll introduce you. He'll be quite excited to meet you, and he'll have a million questions."

"We have a President there, Harriet Jones," Rose smiled a little. Harriet had been better as the President there than she had been as the PM in her original universe.

"Goodbye to Mickey? Well he's the one who's back in the universe sort of in charge of helping me. He helps me get from one place to the other."

That was strange, she sort of had said goodbye to Mickey just in case she found the Doctor but not a proper goodbye as Sarah Jane was hinting.

"I'd love to meet him!"

Sarah Jane raised an eyebrow. "Harriet Jones? Same sort of woman as the former prime minister?" God rest the woman's soul, Sarah thought. She shivered a little as the woman's last stand replayed in her mind. Extermination by the Daleks was not a fate she'd want for anyone, especially someone who'd tried so hard to help protect the planet.

Realization hit as Rose explained about Mickey. Rose was talking about the dimension hopping in the present tense, meaning that Mickey was still sideways in time. He hadn't come back to Earth yet, hadn't rescued Sarah Jane from the Daleks, from Rose's point of view. She hadn't helped them defeat the Daleks, not yet. That was something that Sarah Jane knew she shouldn't bring up, so she tried her best to cover for her gaffe. "Ah, so you and he both ended up in that parallel world. I thought perhaps you'd been there without him." They hadn't exactly had a lot of time to explain the situation, what with facing down Daleks.

"When we get off this planet and back home, I'll make sure to introduce you," Sarah Jane said. Luke would love hearing about Rose's adventures. Information like that would be like Christmas presents for him.

"Yeah, same women. Though far more better in that universe than she ever was in ours in terms of being in office. She's quite loved over there. Though I do keep an eye out, after what she's done back home."

She noticed a shift in Sarah Jane's behaviour, but didn't think anything about it. She smiled a little, nodding.

"Yeah, Mickey's there. As well as my Mum. It made things...a little bit easier, I suppose."

She grinned even more as she continued talking about her son.

Sarah Jane raised an eyebrow at Rose's comments regarding Harriet Jones. She'd quite liked the woman as PM, and hadn't bothered to do much investigating as to why she'd left office. There were other things that had occupied her thoughts at the time. "You clearly know something that I don't," she said. "Have you met Harriet Jones?"

She smiled when Rose mentioned Mickey and her mother. She'd known, of course, but it was nice to hear from Rose's own lips. "I'm glad," she said. "I did worry, after what happened at Canary Wharf. It's good to know you all came out more or less okay."

Rose nodded.

"Twice. Once when the Slitheen first came, that spaceship which crashed into the Thames? She helpe out with that. Then again at Christmas, with the Sycorax. She was the one who ordered Torchwood to blow them up as they left Earth."

Rose nodded, shrugging a little.

"I guess you could say that."

Of course Rose had never been okay since that day. Not until she had gotten the Doctor back. She had lived her life, yes, but never been as happy as she once was.

Slitheen in Downing Street. Again, Sarah Jane was reminded of what Rose had told her back at Deffry Vale. She knew that Harriet Jones had met the Doctor, since she'd made that appeal on television to him during Christmas, but now she understood some of the particulars. And the woman had done what? "I didn't think the Prime Minister had the authority to order Torchwood to do anything," Sarah Jane said. Granted, she was no expert, but she knew a little about them, thanks to Mr. Smith. She leaned forward, toward Rose. "They were leaving for good, then? And she blew them up? That's horrid." Rose knew this, presumably first hand, meaning the Doctor had been there when the then-PM had done this. Sarah Jane could begin to see how her downfall had come about. Non-violence wherever possible. That was how the Doctor operated, and how she herself operated. Only if there were lives in danger did you willfully try to harm your enemy, and even then, death was a last-resort option. Except, of course, with creatures like the Daleks. But, if the Doctor had been there, and he'd let them leave peacefully, he must have trusted that they wouldn't return. Perhaps that was why Harriet Jones had created the underground network she had, as a way of atoning for her mistake? Sarah would likely never know the whole story.

Sarah Jane smiled. "At least here we're all reunited," she said. She was sure that being trapped without the Doctor, even with her family, had been hard for Rose. She remembered all too well how difficult it was to leave him herself, all those years ago. Even though she knew he couldn't take her to Gallifrey, it had still hurt. She reached out and put a friendly hand on Rose's shoulder. "And with the three of us working together, we'll soon sort this place out and put it to right, won't we?"
