Party thread!
-Who: Everyone!
-What: Party time!
-When: Day 27, from 5 in the morning carrying on until 5 am the next day when everything will get cleaned up by the golems
-Where: Ballroom, club, bar, places around there
-Status: Complete
-Rating: Who knows! Could go from anywhere between G and R!

If one were to walk into the ballroom after 5 am, they would find brightly colored streamers hanging across the walls and from the ceiling. Confetti was constantly fluttering down from the ceiling, as if the tiny pieces were snow themselves. Tables had been set up along the wall with plates, silverware, and all sorts of food imaginable. The Planet had made sure to include everyone's favorite food on the menu. The dessert table was huge. There was also a drink table nearby, complete with a bar and a few golems manning it to monitor the intake of drinks as well as serve them up. The Planet seemed to be either apologizing for all the people missing or wanting the remaining people to get together and meet each other again.... or perhaps it was a little bit of both.

Michiru was, in general a morning person, but not so much of one that she'd been awake when the invitation had been posted. Still she noticed it relatively early, but since there was no hint that this was a required event, she felt no pressure to rush on down. She was far more interested in the two books that had been left at the doorstep. One looked obviously to be intended for Haruka, so she left it on the desk. Instead she turned her attention to the one bound in sea green leather with silver leaf trim. The edges of the pages were silver as well, and the symbol for Neptune was emblazoned on the front cover in silver as well. She flipped through it and was happy to see the pages were blank and unlined. She could use it as a sketchbook as well as the journal the planet seemed to have intended.

All in all, it ended up being early afternoon before she and Haruka made it down to the party. Michiru's first impression was that it was a lot quieter than the last party. The music was still that slightly-too-loud generic 'party music', but there was definitely a lot of food of all kinds. She made her way over to the buffet and made up a plate, watching the room as she did so. There were people she didn't recognize and several she'd expected to see but didn't. What was going on?

The thud of the book being tossed onto the desk had woken Haruka up a bit earlier than she'd wanted or intended, but once Michiru had noticed her open, bleary eyes, she knew she couldn't go back to sleep. So, she'd dragged herself out of bed to see the book, which was mildly interesting. It was a mirror image of Michiru's, except tailored to her senshi color scheme and symbol. She had a feeling she wouldn't be using it much, no matter what the Planet's intent. Writing and sketching just weren't her things. She preferred more physically active hobbies.

The note Michiru had handed her was more interesting. It wasn't a summons, like some had received, but an invitation. While she wasn't one for parties, the last one had proven to be a good experience, mostly because she'd been able to find her Michiru. Perhaps this one would be good as well. Fortunately for her, Michiru didn't seem to be in a hurry to get to this party, so she had time for her morning run and such before she dressed for the occasion and escorted her lover down to the ballroom.

To Haruka's eyes, it seemed a lot like the last party. All the fixings were in place, but there seemed to be fewer people than last time. She looked around for the girl who'd helped her rescue Michiru earlier in their stay (A week ago? More than a week? Haruka had trouble keeping track of the time here.), but didn't see the brunette anywhere. She found that odd, for some reason, but shook her head and followed Michiru toward the buffet. She'd skipped lunch, since they were coming to the party so soon after the usual lunchtime, and she was feeling peckish.

"Not exactly large gathering, is it?" she remarked as she made herself a plate.

"No, no it isn't" Michiru commented. The last part had been much bigger. "Something is going on. I can feel it, and I have an idea that when I figure out what it is, we're not going to like it."

She gave Haruka a thin smile. "Still, this is a party. I suppose we should try to enjoy ourselves."

Haruka nodded in agreement. Whatever had happened, it couldn't be good for them all. Another kidnapping? Mass murder? The Planet said you couldn't kill, but what if someone had? Would those left alive ever know? She hoped it was something far less harmful.

She pushed those thoughts to the side and took some sashimi from the table of party treats. "I always enjoy myself when I'm in your company, Michiru," she said. She stepped a little closer to her lover and wrapped an arm around Michiru's waist.

Michiru leaned into Haruka's comforting embrace. "Maa" she said with a soft indulgent smile. She plucked a set of chopsticks from the table and began nibbling on her food.

"We should be at least a little social" she said, gently pulling away from Haruka's arm.

Haruka retrieved an identical pair of chopsticks and allowed Michiru to pull away from her. She sighed dramatically. "I suppose we must," she said, eyes scanning the room. More people had arrived since they'd last looked around. "It's getting a little more crowded in here," she said, glancing at Michiru. "But there are still people missing."

Corran had been on the planet for about a week. He'd more or less been keeping to himself, wary of his surroundings. His infant son was with him so he couldn't afford to be too careful. Now, though, he was beginning to slowly get used to being in this new place. He missed his wife like crazy but knew Mirax was tough and could take care of herself. Corran just wished he could get a message to her somehow. So far, all his efforts hadn't worked.

After receiving an invitation for a party, Corran decided why not? He told Whistler to stay behind in the room so the droid could watch it but dressed Valin and took the baby with him. He clipped his lightsaber onto his belt as a sign for people not to mess with him and just in case he needed it.

Walking into the ballroom, Valin looking around bright eyed, Corran didn't take notice about how there were fewer people there because he hadn't taken notice before. He made his way over to the food table, checking out what was on it to see if there was anything Valin might be able to have.

Michiru didn't recognize the strange man who came in and approached the banquet table. That didn't stop her from noticing the adorable baby he carried, or the obviously paternal way the man looked over the table. He looked like he was searching for food for the babe first, which was only appropriate.

"I'm sure the golems could acquire a bottle for the young one if you ask" she said, giving the baby a smile and small wave. Michiru loved babies. It had been such a pity that Hotaru had grown up as fast as she had before Michiru had a chance to enjoy that aspect of 'mother'hood

Haruka turned as Michiru spoke to the newcomer to the food table. She smiled at the baby as well. It was someone else's, so she was fine with it, for now. She looked up at the child's father, offering him a sympathetic smile. She'd done her share of "papa" duties, so she imagined she knew some of how he felt. "How old is he?" she asked, nodding at the baby.

Inside, she cursed at the Planet. Why bring a helpless baby here? What sort of sick sense of humor was that? At least it had thought to bring a parent along with the child. Was it just the two of them, or was there a frantic mother home, worried sick about her husband and child?

Corran glanced at the two people standing nearest to him. He noticed that one had green hair. Must be some form of humanoid or it was dyed, he thought to himself. "Thanks, but I don't really trust those things," he admitted, eying one that was manning the bar as he spoke. "At least I can taste test this stuff first." He nodded towards the table.

Valin let out a squeal and flailed with a hand towards the two women. He babbled at them, as if he was trying to make conversation.

Corran laughed at his son. "He's 9 months old. I'm Corran Horn and this is Valin," he said, introducing himself.

Michiru smiled and waved at the baby. "Hello to you too!" she said, not quite in the sort of baby talk most people used, but still a touch higher than her normal speaking tone.

"Nice to meet you Horn-san" she said in her normal tone, bowing politely to the man. "I am Kaioh Michiru and this is my partner Ten'oh Haruka. As far as I've found, everything here is perfectly safe. I doubt the Planet would try to poison us." She smiled at the baby again. She wished she could say she didn't think the Planet would have grabbed a defenseless baby. But no, that was just the kind of sick the Planet would do. Probably thought it was funny too.

Haruka shared the man's unease, but hadn't yet had any negative experiences with the golems. They just...looked too much like daimons or phages to make her fully comfortable around them. "The golems have never intentionally harmed anyone here, as far as I know," she offered. Then, she bowed as well. "Pleased to meet you," she said. She spared a quick glance at Michiru, hoping that the delayed reaction wouldn't draw *that* look from her partner.

Haruka chuckled as the baby, Valin, tried to join in the conversation. "Hello there, chibi-kun," she said. She looked up at his father. "He seems very strong, Horn-san," she said. "And very friendly." She turned to Michiru. "He reminds me a little of Hotaru-chan at that age."

Corran nodded in response to her bowing, raising an eyebrow when Kaioh introduced the other women as her partner. "Please, it's just Corran," he insisted, wondering why she'd tacked on the ending. Probably a thing from her planet. He shrugged. "I used to be with CorSec. It's in my nature to be wary about things." Remembering that Yvaine hadn't known what he'd meant by that, he added, "Corellian Security officer, I mean," he explained. "Sorry, I keep forgetting not everyone here has heard of Corellia. ... Come to think of it, I haven't met anyone who's known what it is," Corran mused, dry humor in his tone. "Who's Hotaru-chan, if you don't mind my asking?"

A security officer? That would explain some of the wariness. She'd never heard of Corellia, but that wasn't unusual. She'd been here long enough to have not heard of most of the places people claimed to be from. She liked his dry humor though.

"Hotaru-chan is... was our adopted daughter." she said, tickling the baby under his chin. "Sadly she didn't stay this age for long" She glanced at Haurka. That was all she was willing to say on the subject of Hotaru's age, and really all she would prefer to say.

Haruka caught Michiru's glance and smirked, turning to Corran. "They grow up so quickly, don't they?" she remarked. "It seems like only yesterday Hotaru-chan had been in diapers. Now she's studying hard every night for school." At least, Haruka hoped she was still keeping up with her studies. If she and Michiru were the reason Hotaru couldn't go to the right middle school, she'd never forgive herself. Well, no, she would, but she'd feel like she'd let the girl down, even if there was nothing to be done about it.

"You're in charge of security for this Correlia place?" Haruka asked, clearly turning the conversation back to Corran. "Is it a town, a city, a company?" This man, it seemed, might understand a bit about how she and Michiru felt, torn away from a duty as they were here.

Valin playfully made a grab for Michiru's hand, latching onto to some fingers in a tight grip as he giggled and squirmed in Corran's arms. Corran would have offered to let her hold him but he was still on a strange world and didn't quite trust anyone yet with the most precious thing to him. Maybe in time, though.

"I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. I know what it's like to miss someone here. I hope my wife, Mirax, is doing alright back home... Anyway, Corellia is a planet. I'm not in charge there, never was. I was just a member of the force, but, well, things happened and I had to leave," Corran explained in a tone that said he didn't really want to elaborate further. "I came from a time that was in the middle of what you would probably call a war. Left home, joined the rebellion, became a pilot in Rogue Squadron, met my wife, found out I was a Jedi, and had this little guy. My life story, pretty much."

"Maa, you are the strong one" Michiru laughed as the baby grabbed her fingers. She looked up at Corran. "I'm sorry you were taken from your wife." This Planet seemed to delight in ripping people away from their families. She didn't understand half of what he mentioned regarding his life, but she was rapidly realizing that was typical for this place.

"It shouldn't have taken the baby" she said softly to herself.

Haruka chuckled at Michiru and the baby. She heard what her lover said, and silently agreed. That wasn't fair at all. Corran's wife must be going mad at home with them both missing.

She nodded at Corran as he mentioned being from a period of war. That was something she could understand, even if the wars she fought weren't typical wars. He was giving the short version of his story, but even from that, Haruka could tell that he lived a very hectic life. "Jedi?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "Is that your world's version of a senshi? A soldier?"

Corran kept silent about their comments on Valin. Yes, sometimes he wished that Valin was back home with Mirax, but other times, he knew it would hurt as much as it did wondering if he would ever see Mirax again if Valin wasn't here.

"I suppose you could say so," Corran agreed when Haruka asked about Jedi. "Soldiers for peace though. We disagree with senseless violence. A lot of the Jedi were wiped out in the past but some survived. I trained for a time at the first school that opened for Jedi in a long time. There was only a handful of students, but better than none at all."

"I think there are very few soldiers of any kind who enjoy fighting." Michiru said thoughtfully. "A good solider fights so others do not have to. And a small group can often accomplish much more than massed armies."

Haruka gave Michiru a look. She knew what her lover was thinking at that moment. She nodded in agreement. She looked to Corran. "The Jedi are an honorable order, then?" she asked. She assumed they must be, if he was a member. She didn't feel any negative aura around him. The winds were calm. She could ask Michiru to check the Deep Aqua Mirror later if they felt anything amiss about the young father.

"We too are soldiers for peace," she said. "We protect our planet as best we can from forces who would wish to destroy it, at the behest of our princess."

"Exactly," Corran agreed enthusiastically with Michiru. "Yes, the Jedi are honorable. At least, most of them. Some go bad," he admitted. "We don't have one person we protect. Anyone who asks for help from the Jedi, as long as it's not for a bad purpose, we help."

Valin, having gotten bored with his surroundings, started fussing and squirming. Corran thought he was probably hungry. Before he could start to cry, Corran bounced him a little. He grinned apologetically at the two women. "Sorry, guess he wants the attention back. I'd better go take care of him. It was nice meeting you both and I look forward to seeing you again."
