Who: Ginny Weasley, Tonks, Fred & George and anyone else who wants to join
When: day 18 afternoon
What: Ginny arrives
Where: Indoor Pool
Rating: probably PG-13
Status: incomplete

Ginny walked through the garden behind the Burrow. The house was too crowded for her liking right now. A lot of friends were there and the whole family, or better what was left of it. In the distance Ginny could see fireworks. It had been like that ever since the wizarding world heard of Voldemorts death. Of course she understood that it was a reason to celebrate. Part of her was even happy. The war was finally over and Harry was free now. Those were definitely good things. There hopefully would be no more unnecessary deaths now and once everything had calmed down a little she'd go and talk to Harry.

Right now Ginny however didn't feel happy and didn't want to see the fireworks of celebrating people. And she couldn't stand to stay inside any longer, where a huge photo of Fred was standing in the room. He was laughing and joking in it. George said it was what Fred would have wanted. A photo of him that cheered them all up. Well, it didn't cheer her up right now. There had been so many funerals this week. Tonks & Remus and then Freds were the last ones she went to. The war was over, but it cost so much.

Sighing Ginny tried to push away these thoughts. They wouldn't want her to be sad. They'd want her to be happy and celebrate. She would have to try harder.

Turning around she made a step forward to walk back to the house. But her foot didn't find solid ground to step onto. Ginny lost her balance and then fell forward, right into a pool. She was under water for a few moments, until she finally made it to the surface, coughing and spitting water out.

"Bloody hell", she muttered and then looked around. She so wasn't in the Burrows garden anymore.

"GEORGE", she yelled while trying to get to a ladder so she could climb out of the pool. What kind of trick was this now? Her brother had tried to cheer her up in Freds name the entire week. What had he come up with now? A portkey that would dump her into a pool???!

"Very funny! Wait until I get you!"

Tonks had a lot on her mind. Ever since being kidnapped by the Mad Hatter, she'd been deep in thought. It wasn't exactly that she'd been avoiding Marcus, not exactly. It was more that she just didn't quite know how to think. It had been way too good to see the Ranger, and she was starting to suspect that things might be getting difficult.

So, not wanting to run into him, she'd put on her bright pink bathing suit, a muggle style bathrobe, also pink, and of course, her hair was the same brilliant color that she normally favored. A swim, that would be lovely. Of course, the last time she'd gone for a swim, she'd ended up running into Fred and George, but that probably couldn't happen again, since they were already there.

She entered the room, the chlorine smell clear in the air, and glanced around. No one else was around, which suited her just fine. However, it wasn't long before a loud, cracking sound split the air, and something splashed into the water. She sighed and shook her head. "Bloody hell, another one?"

Flicking her wand, she reached out with it and magically hooked whoever was in the water out of it. Red hair, damp, but that's all she really caught. "Poor bugger. I'm Tonks, who are you and where are you from? It's been awhile since I had to greet someone."

Ginny felt herself being lifted out of the water. It didn't surprise her at all. She turned around, expecting a laughing George to stand infront of her. Instead she looked at an all too familiar face surrounded by vivid pink hair. Her eyes grew wide and the anger turned into confusion.

"OMG", she muttered silently. Then her expression changed back into one of anger.

"That's so NOT funny, George!" What had gotten into him? Now he was using Polyjuice Potion to look like Tonks??? How could he? They had just been at her funeral 2 days ago.

Her eyes started to get teary, but she swallowed and frowned. She wouldn't cry! Instead she pulled her wand out of her back pocket and waved it to dry her clothes.

"Where are we?", she then asked trying to calm herself down. "Do mom and dad know about this portkey?" They'd be so pissed if they didn't.

The witch gasped, managing only to carefully set the girl down gently on teh ground before she took a hasty step back, tripped over a deck chair, and landed up flat on her ass, looking up at the ceiling. "Ow." She shook her head clear, did her best to struggle to her feet. In the process, she pulled several other chairs onto herself. Even for the young Auror, this was an impressive display of clumsiness.

Finally, she got to her feet, only a little rumpled but otherwise not at all the worse for wear. "Must have hit my head harder than I thought..." She tried to shake her offending head clear. No way she'd just seen Ginny arrive... Ginny was already here! And much older than this girl. She tilted her head to the side thoughtfully.

"Wotcher, Ginny looking person. I know you're not Ginny, though, so you might as well stop looking like her." She smiled, quickly recovering from the surprise. "I'm not George, and I'm doing something really bloody wrong if I look like him. A big fan of pink, is he?" She shook her head. "Well, anyway, you'd best tell me who you are so I can show you around, explain how things work around here."

Ginny stared at Tonks as she clumsily knocked herself and some chairs down. This was so like Tonks! But it couldn't be her! Could George or anyone else imitate Tonks like that?

"What?", she asked when Tonks, or whoever pretended to be her, spoke.

"I'm definitely me! I'm Ginny Weasley. But who the hell are you?" Ginny quickly glanced around. This situation was so weird and she didn't fancy her mother showing up and catching her swearing. But nothing happened.

"I know you're not Tonks. I was at your - HER - funeral 2 days ago!", she almost shouted. She was starting to think that this wasn't one of Georges tricks. He could be bad, but he surely wouldn't make fun using a dead person, not after the week they had.

"Why are you doing this and where are we?"

The witch blinked and looked down at herself. She sure didn't look dead, and was pretty sure she hadn't hurt herself badly enough to have killed herself. Anyway, this Ginny person had said that her funeral had already happened two days ago. She frowned and her brow burrowed as she thought. This was just too weird.

"I saw Ginny, though, she's much older than you are! You're just a kid! Ginny is... what do you mean, my funeral? Clearly, I'm not dead!" She walked over, took the young redheads hand in her own. "I'm Tonks, and I'm not dead! Why do you Ginny people always insist on telling me that I'm dead?"

She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Two days ago, I was here in Mirage. I'm not dead, I can promise you that much. I was taken almost three weeks ago. The old Ginny knew a lot more about things than I did, I think she was taken later..."

She shook her head. "I'm not sure I'm making any sense. Hello, Ginny, lovely to see you again. I'm Tonks, this is Mirage, and Snape, as well as Fred and George, are around somewhere. I don't know where the other Ginny went, but she was around." She frowned. "It has been a few days, though, maybe she's gone...?"

Ginny stared at Tonks unbelievingly. This just didn't make sense.

"I'm Ginny! And why would I be older?" If this was supposed to be a joke it was a really bad one. "I'm not a kid anymore." Noone was after the war. "I'm almost 17." It were just a few weeks and she'd be a legal adult. But how many weeks? She'd lost track of time. A war could do that to you. Birthdays just didn't seem important anymore.

She then gulped. "Tonks and Remus funeral", she said, still to really believing that Tonks could actually be standing right infront of her.

When Tonks took her hand Ginny looked at it and then up into her face. She so wanted to believe that it was her. But how could she be sure? She had to ask her something that only Tonks would know. But what?

"What's the form of your patronus? How did George lose his ear? Who is Snuffles?" Maybe someone else could answer one of the questions but not all of them... hopefully.

Ginny tilted her head. "Mirage? What's that?" Then she froze. "Snape is here? Fred?" She blinked. "All dead... is George dead, too? Am I dead?"

The witch shook her head slightly, a smile settling over her lips. "I think the last Ginny must have gone back, or else you're both here but I don't think the Planet would allow that..." She laughed and ran toward the younger witch, and it was likely she would have tripped if it hadn't been only a few steps. The older, pink-haired witch wrapped her in a tight hug.

"This is sort of like your welcome all over again, because you haven't been here before, have you? And it's funny, because I was the one here when the first Ginny arrived, too." She grinned down at the little redhead and then hugged her tightly again. "It's so nice to see you again!"

Finally, she released her and stepped back. "Um, sorry!" She even rolled her eyes a little at the barrage of questions. "My patronus is a chameleon, has been since I could first summon one. I don't know how George lost his ear, I didn't know he did, actually. I was taken before that, and I think he was, too, because he has his ear. Snuffles? I don't have a clue, sorry."

She sighed and tried again. "Look, we were all taken at different times, so you probably remember things that never happened for us. Yes, Snape and Fred and George are all here, and no, you're not dead." She rolled her eyes again, but was still smiling. "Bloody hell, I don't know what it is with Ginny looking people and their obsessions with death. I'm not dead, I left before that happened..." She frowned. "Wait. Remus? Why did we have a funeral together?" That was a little tidbit she hadn't learned from the other Ginny.

Ginny listened to Tonks. This still didn't really make any sense. But when Tonks hugged her it just felt so real. Tonks might be almost 10 year solder than her, but they always got along very well. Tonks was like a good friend and losing her was really bad.

"No, I haven't been here, wherever here is. And I still don't really get this." She felt really confused and was torn between wanting to believe that this was Tonks and wanting to find out who this person really was.

"You have no idea how good it is to see you!", Ginny said and really meant it. Of course it wouldn't be good if it wasn't Tonks and someone was playing a sick joke, but for the moment she was willing to believe that it was really her. She wanted to believe it.

When Tonks answered her questions Ginny raised an eyebrow. The chameleon part was true. She had seen it at Grimmauld place, where they spent a lot of time before Sirius died. That she didn't know who Snuffles was could be because Harry never called him that when Tonks was around. It probably was a stupid question. But why didn't she know about Freds ear?

Before Ginny could ask Tonks already started to explain. "From different times?", she mused, thinking about it. "Someone brought us here from different times? Is that possible? Timeturners don't work that way, do they?" She didn't really know much about timeturners.

"If you left before that happened, how come you were still there? You fought in the war and... died." She looked sad again at the memory.

Ginny then stared at Tonks. "Why wouldn't you?" Then she frowned. "You said you came here before that... from when exactly? How old are you?" Could Tonks have come here before she and Remus got together? Was that possible? But how could she still have been there with him then? And how could they have had a son?

"This is so confusing! You sure this isn't a very bad joke?"

There were a lot of differences between them other than age. Ginny was small and graceful, and Tonks... not so much. Ginny was redheaded and fiery, Tonks was able to have any hair color, but laid back and comfortable with any number of possibilities. Yet, somehow, the two had always been friends. Tonks had always loved having the redheaded Weasley girl around, and it was clear in her frank, dark-eyed gaze.

"Ginny, I know this must be confusing, but... I really am glad you're here." She smiled at the girl and then turned solemn. "I'm afraid I have bad news, though, since you haven't been through this before. You've been kidnapped by a lonely planet, and are in a place called Mirage. We're told we can't kill, and we can never leave. There's a plaque you could read, and your room key..." She shook her head. "Sorry, I'm getting ahead of myself. I made a friend here, Marcus, and he and I are fighting to get back to our own worlds."

That was enough of that, she decided. She didn't want to think at all about what all that meant, that she could go home and never see the dark-haired Ranger again. The subject was not something she wanted to think about, not at all. So she quickly changed that subject away.

"That's... different from what the last Ginny said. She said I just disappeared, and Snape too. I... I died?" Her eyes were dark and thoughtful for a moment, completely losing their sparkle. "Please... tell me what happened to me where you're from. Why was my funeral with Remus?"

Ginny looked at Tonks a bit unbelievingly. "A lonely planet?", she asked. That sounded ridiculous. But who would come up with something like that?

"You're serious", she stated. Tonks really didn't look like she was joking.

"Then I want in. I'm not just going to stay here. I've got to go back home." If this was true she'd do anything to go home again. She'd been waiting so long to be able to be with Harry and now that the war was over there should be nothing keeping them apart anymore. It was the only thought that had kept her sane lately. "Harrys not here, is he?" Tonks surely would have mentioned it, but she just had to ask.

"That's weird. How can there even be another Ginny?", she asked. The thought was really strange.

"You really want to know what happened? I mean, it's probably not going to happen to you, since you're here." Ginny didn't really feel like describing the war. Being in it was bad enough. Of course she wouldn't have had it any other way, but she wished there never was a war in the first place. "Or do you think if you get back it'll happen? Would you go back to that time?" Maybe Tonks should just stay here then.

She laughed softly and shook her head, leaning casually against a wall. Or that was the idea. Of course, since there was no wall around, she ended up simply falling to the ground in an undignified heap. For someone who knew her, this was pretty much par for the course, and she was soon on her feet once more, and grinning brightly. It was business as usual, though the Auror did seem a little more preoccupied than usual. Of course, being told one was dead would do that to someone.

"Course I'm serious." She bounced slightly, tripped a little, and recovered. Clearly, she was happy to have Ginny on board with her plan to go home. "Great, I'll tell Marcus that..." She bit her lower lip and once more changed the subject. "We'll be home again in no time."

She shook her head. "I dunno. How can we even be here? But we're here, and there was an older Ginny here but now she's gone."

The look she gave the younger which was somewhat disbelieving. And her normally loud, cheerful voice went softer and thoughtful as she spoke. "Ginny.... if it were you, wouldn't you want to know?" She sighed softly. "I already know I'm supposed to be dead. I don't know what else you can tell me that would be worse."

Ginny watched Tonks fall to the ground and couldn't help but laugh. If anyone else had fallen Ginny would at least have tried not to laugh. But seeing Tonks like she always was just made her feel happy. And Tonks usually didn't mind people laughing.

"I hope you're right. But while we're here... You said Fred is here, too." Her voice broke a little at her brothers name. "I'd really love to see him", she admitted. It might suck to be kidnapped by some weird planet, but she definitely wouldn't try to leave until she had seen Fred at least one more time.

"I guess we'll have to figure it out." Ginny was a curious person by nature and she'd definitely try to figure out what exactly was going on.

Ginny looked at Tonks and nodded. Of course she'd want to know. "Well, not worse. But it'll probably sound weird", Ginny started. "You and Remus got together and... you've got a son, Teddy." There, she just said it. No way to make it sound less weird for Tonks. But maybe it didn't sound weird to her at all. Tonks must have fancied Remus for a while already, right? Maybe she wanted to go back home so badly because of him. Not that anyone would want to stay kidnapped.

"Yeah, of course. We can find Gred and Forge.." She laughed as she gave them the nickname, "And they'll be so... this is going to be great!" The pretty Auror was far too delighted by this idea, that she would get to mess around with the Twin's heads. She had a mischievious side of her own, clearly. "They'll be so... yeah, we really need to show you to them."

She, of course, didn't know that Fred had been killed. Though, if she'd been thinking about it, she would have realized that she, Snape and Fred had all been on that list. To be fair to her, though, she was still somewhat shaken up by the whole thing. Finding out one was supposed to be dead could do that to someone, and she'd been preoccupied to start with.

Of course, that was nothing to her reaction when the Lupin bombshell was dropped on her. Her jaw literally dropped open, and she staggered back. "I had a baby with Remus?" She had had a tiny little crush on the werewolf, but she'd been taken before it had turned into anything. The news that they had a baby together in some other world disturbed her.

Ginny raised an eyebrow at Tonks behavior. "What are you up to?", she asked curiously.

Seeing the look on Tonks face at the news Ginny frowned. Maybe she shouldn't have said it just like that. Or she shouldn't have said it at all.

"Yes. You were so happy." She sighed, remembering how the two of them had been together. "You really brought some colour into his life", she said grinning slightly. And he into hers as well, she thought remembering how mousy Tonks had looked when she was all upset and sad because of Remus turning her down in the beginning. "And Teddy is really cute."

Ginny then decided to change the subject. Tonks probably needed some time to process those news.

"So, what are we going to do now?" She knew exactly what she wanted to do. "Any idea where Fred & George might be?"

"Just planning mischief, as always." The Auror was still a little distracted, but the idea of a really good prank could always cheer her up. "Fred and George are going to be really shocked, don't you think? I just want to be around to see that."

She bit at her lower lip before shaking her head. "Remus wouldn't be interested in me, and I'm not... a baby? Teddy?" She worried at the skin of her lower lip as she mulled this over. "I... we died together, then? Since we shared a funeral? I..." She shook her head once more. "No. I don't want to hear anymore."

Turning abruptly on her heel, violently disturbed, the pink-haired Auror headed to the door. "Come on, I'll show you the plaque and we'll find your key and then try to track down your brothers."

Not as shocked as I would have been to see them if I hadn't known, Ginny thought.

Ginny looked at Tonks again and nodded. "Yes and he really was. Besides, why wouldn't he be. You're cool", she said with a grin, trying to lighten up the situation.

"Ok, let's go", she agreed and followed Tonks.

"So, Snapes here, too? What's he like without all the double spy stuff?", she asked. She couldn't really imagine Snape being a nice person, but he had risked his life to help Harry and died in the process. So there had to be a good person somewhere in there.

She smiled weakly and shrugged, but really wasn't willing to go into it further. The truth was, this was all going to take a long time for even the cheerful, bubbly Auror to acclimitize to. She couldn't talk about it just yet, maybe not for awhile.

Tonks led the way out into the hallway, doing her usual thing of tripping just about every odd step or so. Her goal, though, was one that she had walked before. She seemed to end up greeting people quite frequently, and having to show them the plaque.

"Snape? Oh, he's a bloody jerk, is what he is. Tried to tell me I shouldn't try to get back, even though there's a war going on and my friends and family were in danger..." That got dangerously near an awkward topic, and she shied away from it. "I still think he's the same old greasy git."
