-Who: Lizards and anyone!
-What: Lizards are swarming Mirage
-When: From morning to whenever the lizards are driven off/defeated
-Where: Location 6! Outside, between the tennis courts, sauna, and garden
-Rating: PG-13 for fighting
-Status: Incomplete

Some lizards were off in the garden, replanting the flowers however they wanted: upside down, sideways, burying them completely, or ripping the heads off and burying just the stems. Two had taken a dip in the small pond inside the garden, although they couldn't quite get in it all the way as it wasn't very big and they, well, were. Others were on the tennis court, amusing themselves with the tennis balls. A few were gleefully pelting one with them, but since they were small and fuzzy and the lizards had tough hides, it didn't hurt as much as throwing a bowling ball at it full speed would. A small group had ventured over to the outside pool, poking at the water warily. The group crowded too close, wanting to get a better view at this odd lake, that the one who had poked the water slipped and fell in with a loud squeal. It panicked for a moment before it realized it could stand up easily; it was in the shallow end.

(OOC: As the day goes on, more and more will appear. There will be about 200 total, so about four and a half for each person, including those who are staying inside, so those who are fighting will have more to take down.)

With one final kick to the lizard's back, Sarah jumped down with an angry scream. "Get the hell out of here!" she called to it as it lumbered away. For good measure she found another large rock and hurled it at the back of the creature's head, watching as it howled and fell over on its side. "That's right!"

Her eyes swung wildly toward Jareth and she was horrified to see the amount of blood pouring from his wounds. She knew he was immortal but part of her was not registering anything other than the fact that he was hurt. Still in a flurry of pain and adrenaline, she started to run toward him.

There was another lizard lumbering closer now. It was between them and she wasn't sure what Jareth would be able to do with his crystals against the nasty animal. She pulled her shoe from her foot and threw it as hard as she could at the lizard's knees.

"Stop, stop, stop! Leave him the hell alone!" she shouted, waving her arms.

He watched the thing go with no small amount of relief. He wasn't in any danger, but he was somewhat caught off guard by the wounds he had gotten. It was distracting. But he could fight, it just seemed to take a bit more effort than normal. Of course, if he thought about it, he was rarely called upon to fight himself. On the rare occasions when it was needed, his goblins did it for him.

It was painful, and yet strangely exhilerating. Though that could be the blood loss. He turned to look at Sarah, touched by the expression on her face, but then one of those lizards came between them once more. This was not even remotely okay with him, though he watched with approval as her shoe hit the thing in the legs. It was even aimed, either purposefully or with pure blind luck, in such a way that it actually staggered the thing.

This gave the wounded King time to act. The ball he threw turned into a cluster of wickedly sharp daggers, all thrown with excellent aim to hit the lizard. Wounded, it started retreating. "Another rock, Sarah!"

Sarah cast around for another rock. Cussing, she grabbed a handful of gravel instead because she had thrown all of the large rocks. She hoped that she wouldn't overshoot and hit Jareth, he was already wounded enough. With less than clear aim, she hurled the handful of sharp gray rocks at the lizard, pelting it in several sensitive areas and gaining her a couple loud whining noises from the thing as it ran off.

Her shoulders slumped forward then and she nearly allowed herself to fall to her knees as all of the fight drained out of her. She couldn't see anymore lizards and she wasn't sure she could fight any more of them even if they showed up. She was exhausted from the physical exertion combined with pure fear for his well-being, as silly as that was considering his immortality.

Instead of sinking to the ground she made her way quickly to his side. "Oh, are you ok? What can I do? There's so much blood." She looked into his eyes and then down at his wounds and felt queasy then.

He flinched back slightly away from the sharp little rocks that Sarah sent pelting toward the lizard. But none of them hit him, which he was very much glad for. More pain didn't sound like something he would be interested in just at the moment, really. He'd had enough of it for the rest of his life, which was saying something.

He planted his feet widely to avoid swaying, since that wouldn't be an image that he'd want her to see. It was bad enough to see him wounded. He still couldn't believe he'd let the thing hit him. How stupid. He tried a smile.

"I've been better." He looked her over quickly, noting the torn shirt. "You're not hurt, are you?" There was a definite look of concern in his eyes, and even a slight bit in his voice, though of course he tried to hide it.

Sarah reached out hesitantly as her eyes blurred, her mind feeling so fuzzy and her stomach lurching. She wasn't afraid of blood but it was just now hitting her all that she had done in the last few minutes. And he was hurt! He was bleeding badly and it made her want to cry. All of it did but she held it in. It was just the chemicals in her brain firing... Jack would've told her all about it. Stupid Jack.

Stupid Jareth. How had he allowed himself to get hurt. She nearly fell against him as she swayed on her own feet but she caught herself on a concrete planter and forced herself to focus on him. "I- no I'm fine. Just a few scratches. But you're really hurt. Jareth. We need help!" She would have screamed over her shoulder for help or gone running for it if she hadn't been afraid there more lizards somewhere.

"I'm fine." Which was more or less true. Though he was in quite a bit of pain, and was still bleeding, he was in no danger of passing out. He wasn't even sure he could do such a thing, actually. He didn't know of such things from personal experience.

As she staggered, he put an arm around her trying to support her. Strange that he was more stable than she was, but he still felt slightly unreal about the whole thing.

"As much as I hate to say it, we'd best leave." Anyway, there were no other lizards around, not that he could see. "Maybe they won't come inside, or we could find somewhere to baricade ourselves."

She was pleased to hear him say that he was fine even though he really did not look fine. As the excitement of the last few minutes began to dissipate and she began to feel even more nauseous, it finally occurred to her that he was actually immortal and she knew he would be as fine as he said he already was.

She couldn't help herself from whispering her concern though. "Please, you are really hurt. You need help."

When he put his arm around her to steady her it was all she could do to not fling her arms around him and hold on. But he was bleeding and hurt and she didn't want to make it worse.

Then without warning she pulled away from him and stumbled a few steps away. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry," she said as she turned the corner around a large evergreen and threw up on its roots. All that damned ice cream and cookie mixture last night, she thought as she sank to her knees in relief.

It might have been nearly two decades since he was last on Earth, but he still remembered some things. One of those things was that no one particularly wanted to be watched while they threw up. He stayed back until she was done, and then approached her. Somehow, he retained his grace, despite the fact that he was so wounded.

"Feel better? Perhaps we should go indoors..." He finally realized he should do something about his injury, and gestured. The typical crystal appeared in his hand, and turned quickly into a long stretch of material, suitable for bandaging an injury.

"Are you sure you're alright?" He looked her over, fighting back a wave of weakness as he started to remove his shirt. It seemed to make his cut bleed more, and sent all sorts of pain racing through him.

Now that she felt better, because of course she did, she got to her feet and was immediately taken aback at how he looked. It was worse than she had been aware of a few minutes ago. She was clear-headed now and her fear was not from lizard men anymore.

"I- yes, I'm fine. But you. Here let me bandage it? I don't think you can reach well enough and you must be in so much pain." She held out her hand for the material he had conjured, her expression pained and confused and very insistent.

She knew it wasn't smart to stay out here but she was afraid he wouldn't make it inside without passing out. He was losing so much blood to her eyes. She was scared even though she knew he couldn't die. Oh how she wished Tonks was here with her magic wand and her contagious upbeat attitude.

Sometimes he wore a scaled breastplate, more for looks than anything. But it would have offered much more protection than the white shirt with the poofy sleeves that he had chosen this morning. He should have scried on the lizards before coming out, that much was clear. But he'd been in a hurry.

He hesitated for a moment and then handed her the bandage. "I'm going to have to take my shirt off, though, for the bandage to do much..." Which he wasn't looking forward to, not even remotely. Actually, it pretty much seemed like the worst idea he'd ever heard, but the bleeding continued and needed to be stopped.

The King staggered for just a moment before forcing herself to stand upright. His hands reached once more for the hem of his shirt, and he tried very, very hard not to wince as he began to lift it over his head.

It occurred to her then that he might never have been hurt if it hadn't been for her. She wasn't sure but it seemed like that was true. It made her want to kick herself for her own stupidity. She'd been warned not to come out here but she hadn't believed the warning or taken the lizard thing seriously.

"Yes, it has to come off," she answered and stepped nearer to him to take the bandage from his hand. She took a deep breath and held it without realizing she was doing it.

Seeing him stagger made her gasp and she reached out as though she might steady him herself then pulled her hand back. "You can't, Jareth. You're making it worse. Let me help you?" she asked and swallowed back the fear that she had been feeling. She looked up at him with a gentle pleading in her eyes.

Jareth took a deep breath and let it out slowly. He lowered his arms, and the spill of his blood on the ground slowed to a trickle. He didn't like thinking he needed anyone to help him. It didn't fit into his self image, not at all.

On the other hand, what choice did he have? He would hurt himself worse than even if he didn't allow her. So he inclined his head to her and let his hands rest by his side.

"You may help me." Coming from most people, it would seem like a complete lack of gratitude. From him, it was an enormous compromise.

With his permission, she stepped even closer and tentatively touched the hem of his shirt. She wasn't squeamish so the blood that soon covered her fingers was not a big deal to her. She'd seen enough of it in her own time. Unfortunately.

No, right now her pulse was quickening because there was still so much unresolved between them and she had just recently admitted to loving him. As carefully as she could be and still move quickly enough to keep him from losing much more blood, she began to work the shirt away from the wound before trying to lift it upward. It was sticky and she knew it must be causing him more pain than not each time she moved the shirt.

"I'm sorry!" she kept repeating and "Are you ok?" glancing up at his face every few seconds.

Jareth would pretty much rather eat broken glass shards than show Sarah she was hurting him. And, to be fair, what she was doing hurt considerably less than what he had been trying to do himself. So he took deep, slow deliberate breaths.

"Yes, I'm fine. Just do it..." He gritted his teeth as the shirt came away from his wound, but luckily that was the worst of it. Once the fabric had been pulled free of the injury, it was a fairly painless matter to get it off him. At least, relatively speaking.

Once it was off, he could relax a little. He even nerved himself up and glanced down, but had to look away as he saw the deep cut on his stomach. It just wasn't something he was used to.

As soon as her fingers grazed his skin and found no resistance, Sarah pulled the shirt slowly upward, as fast as she dared, toward his head. It was a matter of moments before he stood shirtless before her. Which should have mattered but she was so caught up in the activity of saving him from his own wounds that she kept moving.

The banadage was still in her hand, even as she'd moved his shirt up and over his head. With it, she pressed as gently as she could and still calm the blood loss that she saw coming from his wound.

"Please," she said. "Please, don't..." But nothing made sense because ultimately she knew he couldn't die but she was worried beyond what should have been acceptible as she wound the bandage around his torso and fixed it tightly.

It was a relief to have the torn garment off of him, though he wasn't used to standing shirtless in public. He had to admit, normally this would be something quite different, Sarah removing his clothing. But the pain rather added another dimension to the whole thing.

It was odd, really, that the bandaging hurt far less than having the shirt removed. He stood still and let her do it, glancing down once it was fixed in place. It was better to see the cloth bandage there instead of the wound, far better.

"We should really leave this place..." There were no lizards around, but that could change at any time. He'd only been here to see Sarah safe, and didn't feel like he owed anything to anyone else. So he checked her over visually for wounds once last time, and then glanced around.

"Our rooms aren't so far. Let's go there."

Without something in her hand or a task now, Sarah suddenly felt self-conscious. It was strange but she wasn't afraid that lizards would return now. There didn't seem to be a reason to be afraid of them when she was standing beside him. Sure he'd been wounded and badly too, but she knew he wouldn't let that happen again. He was too careful. Too precise. That felt very safe to her right now even if she should be worried.

She started to walk in spite of the protest forming in her mind. She could tell from his tone that he was serious about moving, but then when wasn't he serious? Her eyes flicked to his face for any signs that he might be weakening and need more help than she'd already given him.

"Is- are you ok to go far with that?" she asked, indicating the bandage. "We have to get you inside but I don't think I could help much if you passed out or something from blood loss." She nibbled her lower lip and looked concernedly at him.

"I'm fine, Sarah..." He reached for her hand, however, despite the fact that it was covered in blood. Of course, hers was as well, so it was probably fine. And he felt like he could use the support.

"I'm not sure I even can pass out." But he wasn't sure he couldn't, either, and though the bandage was keeping the bleeding down, he was already fairly week. So he clung to her hand in a way completely unlike him.

There was pain, but not as much. She'd done a good job of bandaging him. "Let's go." Holding onto her, he exited the field of battle, heading toward their dorm building. There had been quite enough fighting for today.

Sarah felt the wings of butterflies flutter in her stomach when he took her hand. Stupidest time in the world for her to be feeling first date nervous around this man with whom she'd had such a turbulent relationship so far. She tried to shake the feeling but she couldn't do it as long as he was holding her hand.

Swallowing hard, she nodded, not trusting her voice to answer his command to go. She allowed her hair to fall across her face so that he couldn't see that it was pink even though he would probably not even notice. She could feel how much pain he must be in by the way he clung -- Jareth clinging?! -- to her hand.

Silently but careful to be look out for more lizards and anything that might cause him to lose his balance, she walked with him back to the dorm.
