Entry tags:active, day 34, illyana rasputin, jareth, layla williams, lizards, luke smith, quatre raberba winner, sarah williams, susan pevensie

-Who: Lizards and anyone!
-What: Lizards are swarming Mirage
-When: From morning to whenever the lizards are driven off/defeated
-Where: Location 6! Outside, between the tennis courts, sauna, and garden
-Rating: PG-13 for fighting
-Status: Incomplete

Some lizards were off in the garden, replanting the flowers however they wanted: upside down, sideways, burying them completely, or ripping the heads off and burying just the stems. Two had taken a dip in the small pond inside the garden, although they couldn't quite get in it all the way as it wasn't very big and they, well, were. Others were on the tennis court, amusing themselves with the tennis balls. A few were gleefully pelting one with them, but since they were small and fuzzy and the lizards had tough hides, it didn't hurt as much as throwing a bowling ball at it full speed would. A small group had ventured over to the outside pool, poking at the water warily. The group crowded too close, wanting to get a better view at this odd lake, that the one who had poked the water slipped and fell in with a loud squeal. It panicked for a moment before it realized it could stand up easily; it was in the shallow end.

(OOC: As the day goes on, more and more will appear. There will be about 200 total, so about four and a half for each person, including those who are staying inside, so those who are fighting will have more to take down.)

Illyana wasn't sure she believed the talk of lizards overrunning the resort today, but the Professor had always taught her that it was better to be safe than sorry. She asked Planet for her uniform, visualizing it in her head, and describing the material of unstable molecules as best she could. What the Planet gave her wasn't an exact replica, but it would be good enough, she decided. She pulled it on and summoned her Soul Sword. She felt a little better as the armor that accompanied the sword settled on her arm and shoulder. Threat couldn't be too bad if the armor had only covered that much of her.

Outside was probably the best place to start looking for any creatures, she decided. Hopefully they hadn't gotten inside yet, if they even existed. She hadn't read her journal since deciding to just make sure, so she was unaware of the notes from people warning of the lizards' existence. She headed outside and out toward the tree house, just to make sure it was still protected by her wards. If there were lizards, and they messed with her tree house.... She'd have to walk around the back of the resort to get to the tree house, under little cover. Suited her fine. Anything that wanted to attack her, she was ready for.

As she neared the garden, she saw movement on the path, and opposite, near the tennis courts. A tennis ball came flying her way. She didn't register what it was until her sword had come up to meet it, blocking it from hitting her face; she'd hit it with the flat rather than the blade. "Who the hell thought these things up?" she mused aloud as the lizard-demons stopped what they were doing to look at her. She returned their gaze, trying to keep the different groups all in her line of sight. "Are you friend or foe?" she called to them, wondering if they'd understand her.

Once the trouble had started, Quatre had run outside to get Sandrock. The problem was... he couldn't find Sandrock. The Gundam was not where he had left it. How could someone just have taken a huge thing like that? He couldn't have misplaced it because it was hard to lose something that big. Quatre was the only one who knew how to get into the Gundam was well, he was fairly sure. He didn't see it walking around, being piloted by someone else.

Quatre had tried to keep out of sight, knowing he was vulnerable without any protection. He smiled slightly as he crept behind some bushes, wishing that Rashid and his Maganac family were here, even if they would give him the scolding of his life.

Someone grabbed Quatre by the back of his vest and the sixteen year old found himself jerked into the air and dangling. Oh great. The lizard that had picked him up growled. Quatre held up his hands in a peaceful surrender. "I'm sure we can reach an agreement here..." At least, he hoped. The lizard didn't seem to understand him, though, and simply threw the Gundam pilot over its shoulder, heading off who knew where.

Well that didn't work. Time for Plan B. Quatre wasn't much of a fighter but he sure wasn't going to just go quietly. He started struggling, trying to push himself free from the lizards grasp. "Please let me go! I don't mean you any harm!"

Susan saw the scene below her so she loaded an arrow into her bow and sent it flying into the lizards after Quatre. She reloaded and kept shooting, knowing she has a decent supply of arrows. But anyone could see a small splash of color in the ridge above the garden.

A lizard emerged near her, carrying a boy over his shoulder. Well, that answered Illyana's question, didn't it? The other lizards near her seemed to take that as their cue to go after her in a similar fashion.

"Hang on," she called to the boy. She tightened her grip on her Soul Sword and charged the lizard who was retreating with the boy. "Let him go!" she shouted, bringing her sword to bear on the lizard. She swung at its back, careful to avoid hitting the boy, and made a gash down its shoulder, tearing through its armor. These lizards were at least partially mystical in nature, then. Magical constructs? No time really to think about that. She could hurt them, so hurt them she would.

One grabbed her from behind, but let her go suddenly. Illyana turned around, and saw an arrow sticking out of the lizard-demon's arm. She couldn't see the archer, but was grateful for the help. She turned her sword against this attacker as well, slicing at its belly with a shriek. Then, she glanced back at the boy, wondering if he'd been able to get away from his would-be captor.

Once the girl with the sword had slashed the lizard, it let out a screech and dropped Quatre unceremoniously on the ground. Quatre landed on his feet and watched as it immediately raced off, shrieking in what seemed to be pain.

"Thank you," Quatre said to his rescuer gratefully, keeping an eye out for any other lizards coming at them in the meantime. "This isn't how I'd have liked to meet someone here, but I'm Quatre. Is it always like this? I only arrived yesterday."

The rest of the lizards had disappeared, for the moment, at least. Maybe they scared them all off. Part of Illyana hoped they hadn't. Her blood was racing through her system, and it had felt good to vent some of her frustration at the Planet on the lizards.

"You're welcome," she said, grinning at him. She wasn't even that winded. Good to know she hadn't fallen too out of shape yet. "I can match you on bad arrivals and meetings. I got plopped here in the middle of a hurricane, and I nearly took the head off of the first guy I met." She held out her hand. "Illyana Rasputin, pleased to meet you." She shrugged. "It's usually much more low-key than this, although there have been a few bad patches since I got here." She frowned slightly as she remembered the very evil presence she'd felt permeate the resort not too long after her arrival. Nothing of the sort accompanied these lizards, thank goodness.

"Where are you from?" Illyana asked. Maybe he was from her world, if she was lucky.

"A hurricane?" Quatre grinned. "Can't say I've ever been in one of those. I'm used to the desert. You haven't seen a mobile suit, have you? I came out here to get it so I might be able to help but it's just... gone. It came here with me so I'm not sure how it could have just disappeared and I don't think anyone could have just walked right up to it and taken it..." Quatre refrained from calling it a Gundam or Sandrock, just in case him being a Gundam pilot would get him in trouble here... He was still rather confused on how he'd gotten here in the first place.

He took her hand and shook it in return. "Quatre Raberba Winner." He stated his full name, watching her face for any sign of recognition. "I'm from the L4 Colony."

Mobile suit? What the heck was that? The only thing that came to mind was Voltron, and she was pretty sure Quatre didn't mean that. "I'm not sure what that is," Illyana said, casting her eyes around, just to make sure the lizards were really leaving them alone. She didn't want to let her guard down.

And when he introduced himself, Illyana understood why she had no clue what he'd been talking about. She'd never heard of the L4 Colony. "Nice to meet you, Quatre," she said. She shook his hand firmly. "I'm from Westchester, New York, in the United States. Nowhere near the desert, but I grew up in Siberia, which some people call a frozen desert."

"It's... a large humanoid looking mechanical suit. A giant robot, I think would be better to understand. When I find it, I'll show it you," Quatre promised. That is, if he could find it. He still didn't understand how something that big could get lost.

"I've been to New York a few times. Can't say I've been to Siberia. I grew up in space on the colony. The Earth is very beautiful, though. The first time I went there was when I was 15. It was breathtaking." Quatre had a fond little smile on his face as he recalled his first peaceful view of the Earth.

Illyana fought back a laugh. He did have a Voltron. "It's not made up of little robots, is it?" She couldn't help it. Something from cartoons was real? Despite the situation, she was tickled by this. "I've got to see this. Wait. That wasn't a bad pick-up line, was it?" She gave him a look, but she smirked as she spoke, so he'd know she was joking.

"I go to school an hour out of the City, in West Chester. Or at least, I used to before I was dunked here." Her eyes widened as Quatre mentioned living on a space colony. "Seriously?" she asked. "That's kind of awesome. Good to know the space program actually works in the future." He had to be from the future if he lived in space. If he was from Earth and lived in space, she corrected herself. He didn't look like a Shi'Ar, though, so she figured her assumption had to be right. "It is gorgeous from space," she agreed. "I got to see it when I was about the same age. Sort of a school field trip."
