Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:active, day 34, gray harkness, gwen cooper, ianto jones, l lawliet, light yagami, lizards, sarah jane smith

-Who: Lizards and anyone!
-What: Lizards are swarming Mirage
-When: From morning to whenever the lizards are driven off/defeated
-Where: Location 4! The library
-Rating: PG-13 for fighting
-Status: Incomplete

Of course, the lizards in the library were gleefully ripping out pages of books by the handful and tossing them in the air, letting out the lizard equivalent of a giggle as they watched the pages float down. Some had toppled over a few bookshelves and were using the now empty stacks to climb around on. Yet another fight had broken out here as well, resulting in books being hurled back and forth at each other, accompanied by angry shrieks that could be heard from the hallways. A few other lizards who were wandering said hallways came inside, wondering what all the commotion was all about.

(OOC: As the day goes on, more and more will appear. There will be about 200 total, so about four and a half for each person, including those who are staying inside, so those who are fighting will have more to take down.)

Gwen shot a look to Ianto that only said one thing,"Totally on it" as she dove into a section of the library with her gun in tow. As she jabbed several lizards she spotted Sarah Jane and signaled,"Got an extra stun gun if you need it".

Sarah Jane looked back as the library seemed to suddenly burst with people, all making a racket. So much for creeping about quietly. An Asian boy ran in and shouted to another Asian boy, whom Sarah Jane could see now underneath a desk not too far from herself. Unfortunately, the lizard-men also spotted not just him, but all of them. Sarah ran for the desk, toward the boy who looked frozen in fear. "Come on, leg it!" she said. She chucked her book at the lizard-men who had started in their direction. "Come on!" she urged.

She was about to grab the boy's arm, when Torchwood ran inside, stun guns in hand. Gwen offered her a stun gun, and, despite her usual aversion to anything gun-shaped, she shouted back "Toss it here!" Right now, protecting these boys was more important than her disgust at violence. She had no idea what these lizard-men wanted with them all. She shoved the desk forward, toward the oncoming lizard-men, and held out her hands to catch the gun she expected Gwen to throw.

"Catch!" Gwen tossed the extra gun Sarah Jane's direction. She jabbed several more lizards, raw rage tearing into her. She needed a way to work through the rage over losing her friends so in a weird way this was helping her.

Once Gwen had safely left with Gray, Ianto looked around to see if anyone else was still inside. The young man from the group activity he had been in was gone, along with the other who had been with him. Ianto really needed to learn the names of the new people who arrived.

He made his way over to Sarah Jane, getting a few lizards out of the way as he went. When he reached her, Ianto flashed a quick smile. "Hello, Miss Smith. Ianto Jones at your service. So, any ideas on how to stop these things from destroying the library completely?"

Sarah Jane caught the gun just as a lizard bore down on her. She fumbled with it, but managed to turn it toward the creature and press the discharge button. The lizard shrieked and ran back the way it had come before she could actually touch it with the thing. More the better, in her opinion. Gwen and the two boys had disappeared while she was getting her bearings, leaving her with the Welshman from Torchwood. She flashed him a grateful smile when he introduced himself.

"Sarah, please," she said, taking a moment to catch her breath. The lizards were quite frightening, but she was managing to keep her fear under control. Just one more group of hostile aliens, after all, and if she couldn't handle that sort of thing by now, she wasn't a very strong person. "Wish we were meeting in person under more pleasant circumstances." Another lizard approached the desk, and Sarah Jane brandished the stun-gun at it, glancing at Ianto for back-up. "Can you think of anything lizards, normal lizards, are averse to? High-pitched noises, foul odors, that sort of thing? Maybe we can drive them out that way."

Across the library, the lizards who weren't advancing on them were happily, it seemed, digging through the piles of books scattered across the floor, playing in them almost like children in piles of leaves.

"As do I," Ianto agreed, facing the opposite direction that Sarah Jane was so they were more or less back to back. Better fighting strategy that way, Ianto felt. "We could try loud noises, but I'm not sure how we would make something loud enough..." The lizards were sometimes shrieking loud enough to make his head start to hurt slightly. At least they weren't being attacked by a pile of them...

Ianto resisted the urge to go over and fight the small mob that was playing with the books. It wouldn't help getting beat up himself and books could be replaced. Wounds took longer to heal. "They don't seem to be bent on killing us," he commented with a mockingly cheerful tone.

It was nice to know someone had her back. Since there was no sign of the Doctor or Captain Harkness. Ianto was Torchwood, meaning he was capable of handling himself in a situation like this. She winced as the lizards shrieked again in their incomprehensible language. "They seem to be doing just fine on the loud noises all on their own, don't they?" she said. Having someone else around helped to calm her a bit. That, and the fact that the lizards weren't actively pursuing them anymore.

"No, they don't," Sarah Jane agreed. "At least not at the moment." She hoped it would stay that way. She looked around, trying to figure out something that would drive them off. She wasn't keen on using the stun gun again, even though she clutched it tightly. Even if it wouldn't kill, it was still a gun. "Don't think they'll just get bored and go, do you?" she asked hopefully. Probably not, she knew, but she could hope.

Ianto was about to reply when a lizard went flying across the room. Ianto turned to look in the direction the lizard had come from and saw Spike standing there. He seemed to be certainly strong for a regular human. Hmmm. A potential distraction?

"Should we let our fellow abductee take care of the rest of them?" He glanced back at Sarah Jane, noting that she didn't look too comfortable at the moment. He remembered her mentioning a dislike of guns before on the sub-wave network. Perhaps he should help her get out of there then come back. The other man certainly looked like he could hold his own until then.

Sarah Jane jumped, startled, as the lizard flew across the room. She followed its path back to see the blonde man. Had he tossed that lizard, or did he have a weapon Sarah couldn't see that made it fly like that? And if it had been him, how? He didn't seem strong enough, based on his slight build.

"That hardly seems fair," Sarah Jane said, catching Ianto's gaze. "One against all those lizards?" Much as she wanted to run off, to find the Doctor and let him put it to rights, Sarah Jane knew she couldn't do that. "Maybe if we surprise the lizards, rush them and startle them, they'll run off?" Long shot, but her brain was for some reason not working as well as it should in a crisis. If older age was choosing now to start kicking in, it was choosing a rather inconvenient time. It could bloody well come back later. Think, Sarah, think.
