open 🌸 all week
[It’s officially winter time – the days are longer, the nights are cold, and there are winter directions all around Miracle Country. There’s a light dusting of snow all over the islands, often the afternoons marked with little snow flurries.

And it seems that the world is getting into the spirit, too. Yes, with the winter directions – lights, snowflakes, ribbons – there is also something perhaps a little more mischievous.

All throughout the islands, there is magical mistletoe appearing. It will come at random and anyone unfortunate enough to pass under them will find themselves captured there. They won’t be able to get free until someone comes along to rescue them.

And how can you rescue your friends from being captured? It depends. Once two people are caught under the mistletoe together, they’ll be prompted through magic what it is they need to do. It can be anything, from romance to violence.

The mistletoe are indestructible and they won’t disappear until the task is completed. So you stubborn people out there, be prepared for a long, long wait. Especially since the mistletoe is content to stay around – and it will be randomly popping up for the next week or so, so better be cautious!]

[Seems surprised, too, but then relieved a moment later. Let's be real, she wouldn't have been able to figure out a way for Lucifer to NOT kill him, so. This is a good thing.]

Well. It could definitely be worse, right?

Yes, well... [He supposes.] All the same, it is hardly decorous to intrude on a woman's private affairs, or to share with her your own.

[Unless you're having a one-night-stand with a woman solely to fuck information out of her. But that's neither here nor there. The point is, punching is (apparently) less indecent.

Sigh.]

But, as for a secret to share...

[Uh.

...You know, quite some time ago Sebastian was put in this same situation of having to share secrets - that time, it was with Queen Anne. And he was painfully made aware that he is very lacking in secrets that wouldn't either a) compromise his master if he were to reveal them, b) send people running in the opposite direction of the soul-eating demon, or c) both of the above. After that incident, Sebastian thought to himself that he could stand to acquire a few "safe" secrets specifically for situations like these.

Right now? He recalls that thought, and how he has yet to really set out to get himself any such secrets.

Uh.]

[Oh! Actually...]

I... keep a cat?

[This is a secret because his master isn't supposed to know about it (I mean, technically Sebastian isn't allowed to keep cats, so). However, even Sebastian realises this is a poor excuse for a secret in this case, and he immediately follows it up with--]

That is to say, I keep one besides the one I believe you must have met? [His memories of that time Chloe forced him to bed when he was feverish are a bit foggy, but he's pretty sure she met his then-only cat.]

The second one is a loan, technically, but even so that is toeing the line of what I am allowed.

[... As far as salacious secrets go, this is pretty tame. Honestly, she's surprised. She expected something a little juicier than that (you strike her as the type). Which just goes to show that you're sitting on the more gruesome ones, which is fine.]

I already knew about the first cat. [Yes, she remembers from one of the many stubborn encounters with this guy.] Why is the second one a loan, then?

[Insert joke about Sebastian's most scandalous affairs being with cats.]

Oh, you see, Mr Morningstar's thought was that the semantics would mean I am not technically disobeying orders that way.

[Lucifer is kind of silly that way, you know? It's a nice thought, certainly, but it's not going to work out that way in reality. Sebastian is just going to have to make sure Ciel never finds out about it.

It should be noted that Sebastian has no ulterior motive of embarrassing Lucifer by saying this (for once). He's aware that Lucifer cultivates the image of the big bad devil to the best of his poor abilities, and he also understands... on some theoretical level... that Lucifer wouldn't want to be associated with kittens in any way.

But, well. Now they're on the subject of cats. You know how much deep thinking Sebastian can manage under these circumstances.]

I'm sorry, did you just say Lucifer gave you the cat?

Yes?

He is growing to be quite large by now - I believe he is approaching four months old.

No, no. Go back. Lucifer. Lucifer gave you a cat?

That's almost sweet.

[Oh. Sebastian looks surprised for a second. "Almost sweet"?]

Ah, he attempted to explain the reason why he would do something like that, but I, admittedly, still do not quite understand why.

[He chalks it up to "Lucifer stupidly assumes responsibility (what a strange word to use in association with Lucifer) for things that are none of his business, and also he wants everyone to sit by a campfire and sing Kumbaya."

...Sebastian supposes that fits the criteria for "almost sweet".]

... Sounds like him. I think he likes being not totally understood, sometimes.

[Sighs out.] Well, as long as we're having a conversation about secrets - this is the type of thing that made me think you two dated.

[Hrrnng. So what - can't you call an idiot "idiot" now without being past lovers?]

With all due respect ["to your terrible taste in men"], surely it cannot be an uncommon occurence for people to have opinions about him?

[...Granted, most people who have spent enough time (what? five minutes?) with Lucifer to realise what an idiot he is have probably also slept with him. But still.]

You make food for him constantly and snark about him and when I first got here, you discussed mornings with him with some loathing. Excuse me for thinking there was a bad break up.
