open 🌸 all week
[It’s officially winter time – the days are longer, the nights are cold, and there are winter directions all around Miracle Country. There’s a light dusting of snow all over the islands, often the afternoons marked with little snow flurries.

And it seems that the world is getting into the spirit, too. Yes, with the winter directions – lights, snowflakes, ribbons – there is also something perhaps a little more mischievous.

All throughout the islands, there is magical mistletoe appearing. It will come at random and anyone unfortunate enough to pass under them will find themselves captured there. They won’t be able to get free until someone comes along to rescue them.

And how can you rescue your friends from being captured? It depends. Once two people are caught under the mistletoe together, they’ll be prompted through magic what it is they need to do. It can be anything, from romance to violence.

The mistletoe are indestructible and they won’t disappear until the task is completed. So you stubborn people out there, be prepared for a long, long wait. Especially since the mistletoe is content to stay around – and it will be randomly popping up for the next week or so, so better be cautious!]

"Randomly" would imply without reason or forewarning, would it not?

I will not claim to relish the thought, but to be completely frank I dislike even more the idea of us both being stuck here for goodness knows how long-- and apparently we get no choice in who is to do the "honours".

[Not that he's saying there would be a lot less waffling if he could be the one to punch her... Surely.]

It will neither kill me nor will I hold it against you, Detective - it will be fine. It would hardly be a first time, besides.

[Who would ever want to punch Sebastian in the face, am I right.]

Look, you can't blame me for hesitating on this. [even if you're... weird... she isn't particularly keen on punching you in the face, shockingly.]

I don't, Detective. Most people would hesitate, I realise.

[Even if it's kind of silly, in his opinion. Sigh... Fine, he supposes he can back off somewhat. Maybe his schedule can recover from a few additional minutes' delay.]

Would you prefer to wait some time, then? [And emotionally prepare or whatever it is that humans do.]

No it's fine. Better we get it over with. [mrrr.]

You sure it's alright?

What kind of butler would I be if I could not take a single hit? I am quite durable, I assure you - that is to say, it is fine,

[he says calmly while taking a step towards her, stops, then folds his arms behind his back.]

Whenever you are ready, then, please. You need not warn me - I will see it coming.

[Well, fine then. Takes a moment to prepare and then punches him. She has a pretty good punch, unsurprisingly.]

[(Perhaps surprisingly) Sebastian notices the strength of the punch. He's a demon, of course, and it takes a lot more than a human hitting him to truly injure him, but that doesn't mean that a punch, especially a pretty good punch, doesn't hurt to an extent. It hurts more than his master's weak little slaps, certainly.

He dutifully takes it without flinching: his head snaps to the side and he makes a quiet, unappreciate noise, but his feet remain firmly planted to the ground and he doesn't stumble. #thethingsheputsupwith]

[She takes a step back and finds that she can, indeed, move - and thus is moving towards him again, frowning.]

Are you alright?

[*UNAPPRECIATIVE. I feel better now.]

Just fine, [he huffs, quickly stroking his chin with a hand a few times. He looks fine? The slight redness on his skin is already fading.]

I'm glad.

[He flashes her a quick, somewhat half-hearted smile when he sees the eyebrow raise. Completely normal human man here, nothing to see...!]

Admittedly that was a harder punch than I am used to.

Oh, please do rest assured I had not expected it to be weak.

[Some of the strongest and most violence-inclined humans he knows are women. He's learned not to underestimate.]

Well then, as much as I well realise the blame does not lie with me, I'm sorry you were forced to go against your principles like that, as relatively quickly resolved as it ended up being. Might I suggest we go our separate ways for now, until this nonsense passes?

Probably for the better. But you should be careful... who knows how often this is going to happen, if it's this common?

Knowing this world - as much as one can do such a thing - and how seldom it is sated by moderation... I do strongly doubt this will be the only time either of us is subjected to this, unfortunately.

[Heh...]

All the same, I will be fine even should this exact same scenario end up happening multiple times*. [He has a thick skull like that] Please do take care, too.

[siGH...]

I suppose now is the time to become superstitious enough to voice nothing of my thoughts on this turn.

[Because, see, Sebastian half-suspects he'll be forced to return the favour this time, and. following that, Lucifer will either cry, which will be annoying, or he'll murder Sebastian, which will be almost as annoying.]

Regardless, I'm not leaving you here like this. It'll be fine. [If it is going to be another punch, she can handle it - and better than most people, barring the celestial beings which she doesn't know Sebastian knows about, of course.]

You are too kind, Detective.

[Sebastian sounds so grateful. So joyful. It's almost overwhelming how relieved he sounds.

........I mean, he doesn't fancy being left to stand here on his own for goodness knows how long. He's just somewhat out of enthusiasm for today and would like to go home and cuddle his cats now, please.]

[She understands the thorough lack of enthusiasm from him, at least.] [Steps under the mistletoe with him after a brief moment of collecting herself and emotionally preparing to get punched in the face and already planning on how she's going to tell Lucifer if it DOES bruise so that Sebastian doesn't get murdered........................................]

[In spite of what they've just been saying about not jinxing it, Sebastian takes a moment to fix his gloves in preparation for punching her - because really, it just figures that's what it will turn out to be.

It's a bit of a shame he's never had much reason to learn how to hit someone without leaving a mark, but well, now is as good a time as any to learn, he supposes.]

Well, then. I apologise in advan--

...Oh.

[Oh. It's not going to be a punch? Imagine that.

Sebastian pauses, and looks almost mildly offended for a moment.

Why, precisely, does he keep getting cast as the passive damsel in distress and only having things done to him here?]

[Seems surprised, too, but then relieved a moment later. Let's be real, she wouldn't have been able to figure out a way for Lucifer to NOT kill him, so. This is a good thing.]

Well. It could definitely be worse, right?
