The air was warm but the sky was full of clouds which seemed to suit Jane's mood perfectly. Today was a bad day for her. It was the anniversary of her original due date, the anniversary of the date that little Charlotte and Michael Jr would have been born had she carried them both to term, what would have been their birthday. And so knowing this day would be bad for her, Jane had taken the day off. Granted, they were still a little short staffed, and it probably wasn't a good idea for her to lie and say she was ill when there were so many nurses who really were ill, but she just couldn't handle work today. So instead of working, she was drinking. Alone.

Jane had always had a bit of a habit but it had only gotten worse after the car accident, and even more so after Mike had left her. It was under control now, but today, she wasn't even trying to fight the urge. And so she was halfway through a bottle of vodka, using a jug of orange juice for a chaser, sitting in the old rickety rocking chair that looked out the window of the lighthouse giving her a perfect view of the tumultuous sea beyond.

What: Riley just came in from a run, grabbing some breakfast.

Riley groaned as he rubbed his sore leg on his way to the cafeteria. He shouldn't have run for as long as he had, his leg did not appreciate it but he loved the feeling and it was raining, he loved running in the rain, so he would probably keep doing it until he was told by his own doctor not to. He smirked to himself as he grabbed an orange juice at how pissed Jane will be at him when he whined to her that his leg hurt. Which of course he fully planned on doing just to make her sigh his name in annoyance because it amused him.

He grabbed some basic breakfast fare and made his way over to a table instead of dragging it back to the staff area to eat. He didn't see the point when he'd just have to bring the dishes back anyways. He bit into his toast as he looked out over the few patients up and around this morning. He felt for them, when he lost his memory he had been a patient at Dax for a few months...worst months of his life, in fact he was still working through them. He scrunched his nose and then focused on the joys of coffee as he sipped his.

Where: Ward A
What: Jane gets a call from one of the orderlies.

Jane had only been on duty for roughly an hour when she got a phone call from one of the orderlies in Ward A. Apparently the patient in room A7 needed medical attention. He was bleeding. She had no idea from what or how badly, so she grabbed her supplies and headed quickly to the room. She knocked only once before she unlocked the door and let herself into the room.

"Hi, uhm..." She had to look down at her paperwork to find the name. "Noah?" Eventually she would remember all their names, but this was still her first week and she'd hardly met most of them. She'd been on suicide watch all week long until tonight. "I'm Jane. I'm a nurse here." Eyes scanned his form and she looked moderately confused. She didn't see any blood. And he didn't look injured in any way but...

"One of the orderlies said you were bleeding?" A brow quirked slightly. "I'm here to check that out."

Who: Riley Quinn and Jane Hyatt

What: Riley is going to see Jane after five years.
Where: Jane's quarters

After talking to Rez he knew he had to speak to Jane, he had no idea she was going to be working here as well. Riley wasn't sure what the hell he was doing, it had been a long time since he had seen Jane and the last time he did it had not been good. They had been friends once, so close, even dated in high school but now after what happened at Dax who knew where they stood. But Riley decided that he needed to speak to her, they were going to be working together and not really able to get away from each other since they couldn't leave the island until the weekends.

He checked himself in the mirror before he left his office and then rolled his eyes at himself, what the hell it wasn't like he cared but part of him did because that was Riley. He made his way down the halls of the asylum and glanced around, the patients weren't the same but the feeling was. These people were hurting, even if they didn't know it and they needed help and he was determined this time around to get it right. Despite their problems in the past Jane was a good nurse and now Riley felt he was a good doctor.

The walk didn't take as long as he thought and he took a deep breath, letting it out slowly, snapping the elastic band on his wrist a few times before knocking on her door and hoping she was actually there and he didn't have to go searching for her.
