Good Ending/Bad Ending meme
Do you get a happily ever after? Or a 'Rocks fall, everyone dies'? Why not both?

* Post your characters and set up two scenes. One with an ideal setting (They got what they always wanted, hit it big, became rich and famous, etc.) and one with a bad twist of events (They're homeless, everyone hates them, maybe they're even dying!).
* Others respond to one of the two settings (Or both in different comments, if they want!)
* Respond.
* ???
* Profit!!!

Just remember: no ending is set in stone, good endings can turn sour, and bad endings can be made better. Just see where it takes you and enjoy the ride!

The fact that it just kept coming, however slowly, was probably a concern as well. Hank explained how MRI scans differed from X-Ray or CT scans as he worked, though he knew he was mostly talking to himself.

Finally, however, he made a small, unconscious sound of dismay, though he pulled the professionalism back down again quickly enough, "This isn't good. We need to get him to a hospital, or, better, we need to get a surgeon here, as soon as possible."

	Unfortunately Charles catches the sound of dismay and scowls. "No hospitals. You know that as well as I do. They'd try and take him apart. We need someone we can trust, Hank." Hank shook his head, "We might not have that kind of time." A nod to the screen, "You should see this."

It was easy to see Charles' brain, even with the portable scanner and the small screen, it was speckled here and there with darker spots, "These might be tumors, might be blood clots, might be anything. It's impossible to tell without a proper scan. A hospital would have an actual MRI scanner, we'd be able to get a clearer picture and a better idea of what we're dealing with."

	"So you want me to take him to some place that could kill him?" He growls. To be honest he wished they knew a mutant that could help. But he moves enough to stare down at the spots and shakes his head. "Fine, we get him to a hospital." Not that he wanted the telepath anywhere near one. But he wasn't letting the man die either. Hank sighed, "Our best bet is to just ... not tell them who he is or what we are, which includes not teleporting right into the emergency room."

He slipped away to dial 911 then, returning once he'd done so, "They're on the way, said it shouldn't be more than fifteen minutes. We tell them exactly what you told me, he's been having headaches, collapsed in the kitchen, you carried him up here. That's all." He was already powering down the MRI machine and packing it away.

"I don't care if they know who we are," he snaps. He'd rather they teleported into the damn emergency room because it'd be quicker. Erik's not too damn sure he can tell the paramedics anything. He'd rather them be at the hospital already. They're not quick enough for him. "Right, of course." But he'd still rather this be done quicker. He doesn't want to lose the only man that's been there for him constantly since they'd met.

Hank refrained from saying that obviously Erik did care if people knew what they were, since he'd been against going to a hospital in the first place. He was smart enough to know when to keep his mouth shut.

He didn't doubt that Erik could keep a lid on things as long as everything went smoothly, but he was more than a little worried about what might happen if things took a turn for the worse.

It was Raven who let the paramedics in when they arrived not ten minutes later, and managed to convince them that she was coming along because 'he's my brother, dammit', because she knew that someone would have to be there for Erik.

To be honest Erik didn't want anyone there with them. Not one damn bit but he'd never deny Raven that. Never deny her time with Charles. The paramedics get told exactly what Hank had asked him to tell them. Not that he was paying attention to that fact. There was a lot that he wasn't paying attention to. All of his focus was on Charles, on the one man that had saved his life.

Everything was a whirlwind when they arrived at the hospital, but Raven managed to field the questions that Erik couldn't, questions about Charles' medical history or known allergies. She even managed a small smile and a quiet: "He's going to hate that" when the technician mentioned that they were going to have to shave at least part of his head to get the electrodes for the MRI to align properly.

They were assured, repeatedly, that Charles was priority one, but that they still had to find out exactly what was wrong before they could go about making it right.

Erik doesn't say a word. Not once even when they mention that they'd have to shave Charles' head just to align the electrodes. Though he knew that Raven was right. Hell... he wouldn't even let Hank do that for the use of that damnable machine.

His hands clench at his sides and he's doing his best to keep under control but its hard. He's worried. Raven and the children are family, yes, but Charles... that man was his life. If he lost him then he lost everything.

"Alright." She said with a nod, "But let me know if you change your mind." She nudged him towards the chairs lining the wall, "Let's have a seat, this'll be a while."

It was almost an hour later before one of the doctors emerged to talk to them, explaining that it was what appeared to be a network of tumors, operable, yes, but dangerous simply due to how many of them there were, and they needed to know the risks before making a decision, since Charles wasn't capable of making it himself at the moment.

	To be honest he didn't care how long it was going to take. He preferred to stand but eventually he sits down beside Raven. However the moment the doctor mentions tumors Erik's hands tighten into fists and there's a slight creak of metal. "What kind of risks?" All he wanted was for Charles to get better. Raven's fingers curled around Erik's wrist, as much a warning as it was meant to calm him, just giving a nod for the doctor to continue.

It wasn't an extensive list, but it wasn't a list that instilled a lot of confidence, either, given as how 'death' was one of the possible outcomes, though there wasn't a high chance of that, nor paralysis, which was also on the list, both full and partial, and temporary, loss of one or more senses, the list went on, mostly because any work with the brain was going to be dangerous.

Raven just nodded once after the doctor had explained, fingers tightening against Erik's wrist again, "Do it. Any chance that he'll recover is better than where he is now."

A part of him wanted to snap at the woman beside him and tell her that it wasn't her decision to make. That Charles was under his care not hers but he doesn't. No, his hands just clench that much more. So he just nods to it and would do what he had to in order to be there when Charles woke up.

The moment the doctor was gone, however, he jerks his wrist out of Raven's grip and stands pacing the floor the metal around them threatening to come loose.

	Except for the fact that it was her decision, since she was the next of kin. She unfolded from her own seat as soon as things started to rattle, catching Erik's arm again and steering him firmly towards the nearest door, taking him outside. She was stronger than she looked, quite a bit so, "Erik." Even just that word was a warning. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Perhaps she was but it wasn't just her damn decision. She didn't share Charles' bed. Not that he'd ever bring that up. Just as he was letting her call the shots now. Once outside though he jerks his arm free and turns away from her. Her warning didn't really mean a damn thing to him. There was only one man who could ever sooth him and he wasn't awake right now. "Don't you dare." She said, just a little more sharply than she intended to, but she knew he needed something to shake him out of it, "Don't you even start to think that your worry about this, your pain is somehow more important or deeper or more relevant than mine is, Erik."

She shook her head, eyes flickering to yellow for a moment, red seeping into the roots of her hair before she got ahold of herself again, "You aren't the only one he's saved, Erik."

Those eyes narrow and that isn't going to really shake him out of anything either. "It has nothing to do with who he saved and who he hasn't saved, Raven. You're family. So no one is stupid enough to think their pain is more relevant than yours."

His voice is rough and raw the pain clearly there, "Charles is more than our savior. More than my savior, Raven. Far more." And it hurt that he couldn't do a damn thing about what was going on. He felt helpless and he didn't like that feeling one damn bit.

	"I may be family." She shot back, "But you're everything for him that I can't be." There was something almost bitter in the tone, though it wasn't directed at Erik as much as at herself. She'd been about to say more when something quiet and calm spread over them both, the same way that Charles' presence filled a room when he went in to stop an argument.
