Rogue didn't know why she was like that, or ever how things had gotten so complicated, why she was cursed with these God-forsaken powers? She looked down at the water bellow, stepping onto the Brooklyn Bridge from flight, landing on one of the two sets of towers.
She tried to think back on her life and kept coming with a muddled mess - she was in Asgard when the Nazis came and took her away from her parents an experimented on her by grafting ademantium to her bones. Wait. That wasn't right. Shit Who was she any more other than just a host for an amalgam of memories that didn't even belong to her? Horrific memories at that, things she was tired of carrying around with her - Afghanistan, alcoholism, torture, torture, torture. It wasn't fair... It wasn't fair...
Rogue stared intensely at the water below, now.
And what was the point? Its not like she could ever hope to have a normal life - get married, have children. Her powers pretty much guaranteed that she'd never be able to get close to anyone to even kiss them let alone...
It was better this way, she thought. There was no shame in this. Rogue tipped her head skyward and took one last look at the city around her and inhaled deeply.
Slipping her hand through the leather thong on Thor's hammer, Rogue took one decided step off the edge of the bridge, the weight of it should be enough to drag her down. It also helped her break the surface of the water. And as she sank rapidly through the frigid river, she tried to release the tightening in her chest and just relax, close her eyes. This was just like falling asleep.
Rogue didn't even make it half way down when her eyes snapped open and everything, all of the personalities she had been fighting against, came together. In a sphere of electro-magnetic energy, she exploded out of the water. They were all scattered before, but now they had a common goal - survival. And chaos.
Floating along the bridge, Rogue held her hands out at the traffic that dare honk at her and with a dramatic gesture flung the cars out of the way, as if they were toys. Humans... Rogue narrowed her eyes. How quaint, they were certainly no match for the Master of Magnetism, she thought as she made her way back on to the island of Manhattan, throwing cars here and there as it pleased her.
The weather was changing. Rogue smiled. She could feel a storm just about to roll in.
