The Hulk vs Rogue; OTA
Traffic was always a problem in New York. The congested road ways were some of the worst that Bruce had ever seen. Throw into account that it was currently rush hour and it was starting to look like he'd never get off the bridge any time soon. Bruce had been on his way back to Manhattan from Brooklyn when traffic seemed to slow to a standstill. The scientist peered out the window while the cab driver began to rant at the other motorists. Bruce merely smiled and turned his attention back to the note pad in his lap. The yellow legal pad was covered in equations and notations. A scribbled image of a double-helix dominated one side and there were notes all down the margin. He scribbled a few more ideas that had come to him during the commute while he took in the sounds around.
The gamma radiated expert was content to get a little work done while waiting for traffic to clear but it seemed the world had other ideas. The first sound to reach his ears was the honking of horns; a rather common occurrence in particularly dense traffic. What came next wasn't. The screams of terrified masses hit him and the hair on the back of Banner's neck stood on end. What was going on? It was about that time that the first person sprinted by. The driver of his cab stuck his head out and began yelling at more people running passed. "Can you see anything?" Bruce asked the driver who didn't seem to hear him.
Bruce opened the door of the cab and stepped out. A trio of motorist bolted passed him and nearly knocked him to the ground. When he finally got his feet under him, he was greeted with the sight of a car tumbling through the air. The vehicle slammed into concrete, tumbling end over end until it came to a stop on its side. The people inside were struggling to escape. Who was doing this? Bruce slapped his hand on the roof of the cab and yelled to the cabbie "Get out of here, now!" With that, Bruce took off down the bridge. He moved in and out of the lanes of traffic and avoiding people as much as possible. He ran up and over a low rider yelling for people to get out of the area. He stopped on the hood of the low rider when he caught sight of the person responsible. It was that Rogue woman.
"Alright Bruce.. no pressure. Just talk her down." He shoved a hand in his pocket to key the Avengers distress signal and moved closer to the hovering woman. "Rogue?" The scientist called out. "Or am I speaking with Thor? If that's you Thor, it's me Bruce. I need you to calm down. You don't want to hurt these people." With out realizing it, Banner was moving forward to put himself in between Rogue and the innocent people still trying to make their escape.
