[There's a loud 'whump' coming from the network as Kid flips on his communicator at the same time he drops a rather thick book from the library onto his desk in the shelter. He's long since ditched both his jacket, cape and tie, and while normally he'd keep the entire attire for dramatic effect, moving around the asylum is much easier when he doesn't have to worry about getting his cape caught on something. His hat and monocle, however, stay put. Gotta keep up the mask as long as he can.
Those of very good hearing may pick up on his grumpy muttering (although only a few words and phrases can be heard, such as 'stupid' and 'underwater' and 'who the hell would want to stare at fish all day?') as he plops into his seat and flips open his book.
In an instant, his grumpiness is gone, replaced with a steady and even smile as he addresses the video]
I apologize for not introducing myself properly yesterday, though I did manage to speak to quite a few of you in the some 30 hours I've been held prisoner here.
[He tips his hat at the camera with one hand and continues to flip through his book with the other]
For those I have yet to meet, my name is Kaitou Kid. Kid, for short. [He fully expects for people to realize it's nothing but an alias] I don't contest the crimes I've been convicted for, merely the methods of which I was captured, particularly when avoiding arrest has been my job for the past 18 years.
Allegedly, there is no escape from our grateful host. [Can you hear the sarcasm] But I find that hard to believe.
So I suppose my first question is this: does anyone know how many escape attempts there have been, and to what degree have any of them been successful?
