It's really only come to you in dreams before, though, right? So, a nightmare glitch like that, I guess it makes sense that it would be something you could see better because of how that worked.

You're still you... I mean, yeah, there's some stuff that's changed. But you're still the same person at the core.

[Out of the others, Keith was the only one who knew Shiro before Kerberos. The others knew of him, and Keith had figured that Pidge and Shiro had probably met a few times after finding out that Pidge was related to the others on Shiro's crew. But, Keith had actually spent time with him, and they knew each other. Shiro had helped Keith a lot through some difficult times.

Helping others, even potentially at his own expense, that was just the way Shiro was.]

	Dreams mostly. A few random moments where I feel like I am still there and I freeze. [Keith probably hadn't realized at the time that Shiro's issue initially with the gladiator drone was what it vaguely resembled. [Not at that exact moment entirely, but prior to that, the moment in the Galra ship when he panicked a little looking down the hallway, or after that when they were fighting the first robeast and Shiro's initial reaction was to freeze up before he started working through the flashback to their advantage against it... Keith had started to figure things out. There wasn't much else it could be, really. At first, he hadn't been completely sure, because Shiro's memories were fuzzy, and Keith had assumed that Shiro's nightmare in the pod had been related to more recent events, but it was obvious now that his memories were forcing their way back through his dreams... his nightmares. And that bothered Keith.]

This happens each time you remember something, doesn't it? The freezing up, the nightmares?

Maybe... maybe if we trained against each other in the gym.

Hear me out. We'd have control over, so we can stop whenever you need to. But, if I could learn the changes in your fighting that you picked up to adapt to things, then it would be easier for me to defend against you and maybe even stop you if something like that happens again.

And I'll be less likely to get hurt because I'll be able to avoid your hits better if I know how to anticipate them.

[Shiro turned to look at him at the suggestion. Simultaneously, that was a good idea and a terrible one. Yes, it would be good if someone else were able to match him if need be, but he had already proven that he could hurt Keith and in order to be real, Keith had avoid his hand]

We would have to figure it out.

[Maybe some idea for what to do in that case was needed because they couldn't train like that wasn't an issue and he wasn't going to use it in practice]

I think we could do it. The main thing really, I think, is just me being able to avoid your right hand.

[Keith wasn't afraid to try, which may or may not be the smartest approach. But, he also wasn't thinking about this quite as deeply as Shiro was. They could easily start off without the weapon activated. Keith wasn't even thinking of going full out right from the start. The point was to build up to it. He knew Shiro preferred to do things that way, unlike himself. Keith would also go full out right off the bat if he felt he could.]

Practicing together is not the issue. It's, like you said, my hand. I'm not going to use it during practice because you're likely to get hurt.

[Working up to it was all well and good, but if he could still hit Keith was his right hand and have nothing happen, there was no incentive to avoid it. He could easily get accustomed to there being no consequence for getting hit when that hand had a serious consequence]

[Shiro won't unless he knows with greater than 90% certainty that Keith would be able to dodge any attack he makes with his hand. There's not really any protection against it since he can weld metal with his hand]

I appreciate the thought. Really I do. Sometimes, just being there is enough. Knowing that I'm not alone in the apartment on nights when I'm not able to sleep.
