"Oh yeah! I'd almost forgotten about that." What with her keeping so busy all the time.

"I think Nico would like that, poor thing. At least his sister showed up."

"What, on the recent 'oops, we let too many people in' day? That must have been good for him! About time he caught a break. He's had a pretty raw deal, really, hasn't he?"

"Mmn, he has..." she muses, trying to remember when she first met Hazel. "She's still here, though. His sister."

"Really? Well, that's great! I feel like he could use all the friends he can get around here. Especially some who'll stick around for a while."

"I agree. I feel sorry for him, really." She sighs. Her poor little son.

"Do you spend a lot of time with him?"

"Not nearly as much as I probably should," he admits, because what with all the Spike stuff, he feels like he's lost track of quite a few people somewhere along the way. "I mean, he's in my team in the Defence Force so we check in pretty frequently, but I hadn't really talked to him for a while until earlier today. You know he's a ghost today, right?"

"He is?" Oop, she didn't know about that. Mom senses on high alert, which he can probably tell by the way she straightens her back, lazy content expression hardening. Does she need to swoop in.

"Is he okay?"

"He's fine." He watches her go into protective mode, with a fond smile. "Rather enjoying it, actually - he's been jumping out at people through the hedges in the maze!"

That does make her relax, shoulders sagging a little which looks pretty funny in this oversized dinosaur onesie.

"If I didn't know better I'd say he gets that from his dad."

Ton, that is. Not whatever jerk God actually fathered her adorable wonderful son.

He grins a bit at the relief, which does indeed look amusing, but he's glad that Nico has someone like her to look out for him.

The dad comment gives him pause for a moment, before he realises she means Ton and not Hades. "Oh, right!" He chuckles. "Well, if Ton's sense of fun is rubbing off on him, that can only be a good thing, can't it?" Nico needs more fun in his life.

"Say that to the state of my kitchen." She smirks. It's a good thing, really, but some days she wishes all this pranking energy could be directed towards someone that isn't her. She's still finding tribble hair in her lacier underwear.

"It's good, though. I'm glad that they seem to get along."

He grimaces sympathetically. "Still pranking on you, eh? Shouldn't you get special spousal exemption or something?"

"Tell him that!" she exclaims, exasperated. "You'd think he'd be more careful seeing as I'm the one cooking most of his meals. I'm so tempted to add a little something extra one of these days, see how he feels after a dose of his own medicine."

"I'm sure no-one would blame you if you did," he suggests, because there's a bit of Ton-like mischievousness in him too, and he can't help being amused by the idea. "What would you give him?"

"Nothing too bad... I don't want him to get sick for real. Just uncomfortable."

So more like hidden hot sauce instead of laxatives. A prank, not a medical problem. She's been spiking his food with homeopathic remedies for months now, it'd be easy to sneak in something else.

"Any suggestions?"

He shakes his head, smiling. "Not really my kind of thing." (And he certainly wouldn't condone laxatives, not after a certain incident with Spencer Reid.)

"But perhaps some weird flavour? Like peppermint in a savoury pie or something? Something you could watch him struggle with whilst trying not to be nasty about the taste of one of your magnificent pies?"

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Mmn, maybe something like that... mint wouldn't be too weird, though. Lamb, you know?"

But maybe a layer of something weird in something sweet. She can think of something. She's already made some pretty gross experimental pies, she just never tested them on him.

"Good point. Though it would probably still be pretty horrible with, say, chicken!"

He thinks a moment. "Or how about chilli or curry powder in a cherry pie?" Just the thought of it makes him shudder.

"That's not a bad idea... and worst case scenario, I'll come up with an interesting new flavor combination."

Cherry pie, though. Out of all the pie that Jack could mention.

"Cherry was the first pie he ever tried to bake for me." Tried being the operative word.

He grins, pleased, and then tilts his head, curious. "He tried to bake a pie for you? I never pictured him as the baking type."

Hopelessly romantic when it comes to Chuck, though, so perhaps he shouldn't be quite so surprised.

"Mmn, it was..." The day Ton confessed that he tried to kill himself, that he was struggling, the day she knew she loved him, that they decided to move in together. The pie itself doesn't really link up to any of that, at least not easily, so in the end she continues with a:

"It was a good day. Special, you know?"

He has no idea what she's thinking about that made it a special day, except that he can see in her face that it was complicated. But then, when aren't these things complicated?

He grins mischievously. "Perhaps you could frame your prank as teaching him to bake another pie. Suggest a really odd flavour combination and watch him go along with it because he doesn't want to hurt your feelings by objecting to the oddness of it!"

"Mmn, I'll think of something. Pranks are basically a declaration of undying love when it comes from him, so no matter what I do it'll be good. "

She loves her guy, in case there was any doubt about that. The best one there is and if they had met back home, she would've married him just as quickly. She's sure of it (sorry Ned).

"How about you? Hows'... that whole thing."

He grins. "Yours is a strange relationship." Says the man in a threeway with his butler and a vampire.

"That whole thing with Ianto and Spike? It's... good, I think. Slowly coming together. I mean - not actually coming together, not yet!" With an even wider grin. "But we're getting there. It's been a bit of a case of two steps forward, one step back with Spike and me, but we had a long talk earlier on and I think we may finally be ready to take the plunge!"

Yeah, she's going to quirk an eye at that — you're really not one to talk, Jack! Not that she'd deny that she and Ton have a very special marriage, but as far as she's concerned that's what makes it work.

"Are congratulations in order? I kind of feel like they are." She smiles a little, still not fully understanding how that whole thing even happened but content to be supportive regardless if she gets it or not. It's not like they need her blessing or anything, or that she has any right to withhold it if they want it.

"Anything can happen in this place, huh?"
