[ That sure is some interesting intonation combined with a total lack of contractions, Aigis. But Lelouch doesn't obviously stare at her, just files it away. ]

There are a variety of different rules by which Halloween costume selection could be said to function. [ Not that he doesn't sound pretty mechanical himself sometimes. Pushes aside a costume on his own rack with something of a flourish, and tugs something out to better look at it. ]

For example, it's considered traditional to dress up as something 'scary'.

[Everything is perfectly normal over here no weird speech patterns at all, nothing to see here. Although to be honest she hasn't done much to hide what she really is in this place. There are too many regularly occurring dangers where her enhanced abilities are necessary to keep people safe.]

I am not sure how this can be considered frightening. [She pulls out a sexy nurse costume and examines it curiously.] Although I understand some children are afraid of doctors. Perhaps that is it.

[ Yeah, he's just... a data-miner. It's how he shows he cares! And also just how he functions on a daily basis. Analyzing people's speech patterns... ] [ Also, lips curving up. ]

Well, there's also other traditions. Halloween is also an opportunity for people of certain persuasions to indulge in their id.

I am not entirely sure I understand. This holiday seems very complicated. [She puts the nurse costume back and picks up a monster mask, turning it over in her metal fingers.] Perhaps it might be best not to wear a costume at all. Unless that would be breaking the rules?

No... there aren't really any rules for Halloween. [ Pause. ] I mean, in as much as there are any rules, not wearing a costume would be breaking them. But it's still nothing you need to do...

[ Pauses again. ]

Is there anything you've ever wished you could be?

I do not know. I do not believe any of the wishes I have ever made about myself would make for very good costumes.

[She looks thoughtful for a moment, then smiles brightly at him.]

If it is not too much to ask, would you select something for me?

[ --what, really? he was not expecting that, and turns to look at her with even more surprise. but soon enough his expression shifts back into thoughtful. ]

...A witch or a faerie is always a classic choice.

[She just smiles in the face of the surprise, as though she's misinterpreting it or just not sure what to do with it. The suggestion gets a thoughtful nod and she selects a witches hat to place on her head. It ends up looking cute rather than scary.]

Like this?

[ Smallest lipquirk. He says, ]

Very much like that. [ It's a little girl's witch costume, in spirit if not in fact. Unexpectedly it really rather reminds him of his younger sister, and that's -- kind of a pang, right there. ]

You should probably be more wary of following a stranger's directions. [ j, just observing. ]

Why? You do not seem untrustworthy or threatening. [She looks curious, not suspicious as she tugs the witches dress on and picks up a broomstick, not quite sure what it's for.]

[ Still a tiny liquirk. ]

Appearances can be deceiving. If you don't know someone, you can't judge based just on your first impression. [ Even long-term friends....... Observes, ] Witches ride broomsticks. At least in certain stories.
