"Well, you know..." he drawled, knocking back the rest of his cider and setting the glass down on a nearby table, before turning back to the Doctor, turning up the charm another notch or two - and closing in some more too.

"I'm here. And you're here. And there's dancing. It would seem a shame not to, really!"

"I think I might've seen some lonely looking people elsewhere." The Doctor's voice trails off and quickly he takes a drink from a glass that became empty far too quickly.

Finally he concedes, "Fine. Just one dance. Will Ianto become jealous?"

"There's a lonely person right here," Jack pointed out, batting his eyelashes at the Doctor for a moment, and then grinning when the Doctor finally gave in. "Ianto will be fine," he assured him, plucking the empty glass from the Doctor's hand and setting it down too before the Doctor could try to prevaricate by getting a refill or something.

Then he offered the Doctor his hand to lead him out onto the floor. "Come on. I promise not to grope you or anything!"

The Doctor opened his mouth to protest, but realized it was futile at this point and places his hand in Jack's and follows him to the dance floor. And how convenient a slower song begins playing as the Doctor follow's Jack's lead.

"I'm not apologizing if I step on your feet. It's highly possible."

Watching the expressions chase across the Doctor's face was always entertaining, and this occasion no less than usual. He grinned as the Doctor finally took his hand, and shifted the grip round into a ballroom hold once they were on the floor, guiding the Doctor's other hand onto his shoulder and placing his free hand firmly on the Doctor's back so he could give him the strong lead he was so good at. In other things, he'd always follow the Doctor, but in dancing? Yeah, he was going to lead. And even if it was a slow song, he wasn't going to just shuffle about like some people. He liked to dance!

"I doubt I'll even notice - it's not like you weigh very much!" He peered down at the scrawny form mostly hidden beneath the layers. "Do you even eat, ever?"

[ooc: I love this thread so much! I also met David Tennant a couple weeks ago at a convention and he really is a skinny streak of nothing!]

There's an indignant scoff, "Have you been having a chat with Donna lately? Of course I eat!" So he typically ran on full manic mode and wasn't exactly the best at remembering when to eat, but he did eat. What else did he have to do while everyone slept at night? Or was it simulated night?

He's too lost in thought on the matter when Jack tugged him in another direction and providing a cue for him to follow.

((OOC: Me too - always love these two together, but it's especially fun when Jack's teasing the Doctor to death!))

He laughed. "I don't need Donna to see how skinny you are!" Leaning in close to the Doctor's ear. "Especially when I'm dancing with you." A squeeze of the hand around the Doctor's back for emphasis - and also as a warning for the change of direction which, yeah, the Doctor clearly missed and there was a bit of a stumble. Jack laughed again and helped steady him. "Come on, keep up there, Doctor!"

Was that suppose to be seductive by any means? Because it wasn't. The Doctor was just short of frowning until he was coaxed once again to follow the cue offered, bringing the Doctor into a wide circle then meeting back in Jack's perfect posture.

"I can't help the way I look." He muttered. Given his desire to be ginger, it was a clear he had no control of what will happen next.

...How long was this dance anyway!?

Not so much seductive as just Jack-style teasing. He let up a bit on the teasing, given the Doctor's almost-frown, and just grinned. "For the record, you look gorgeous." But then, you knew he thought that, didn't you, Doctor? Jack's not exactly one to hide his appreciation of others!

And the dance was going to be exactly as long as Jack chose to make it. At the moment, he was pulling the Doctor in close for a tight spin, which was probably tempting fate with the Doctor's lack of co-ordination, but if anyone could pull it off with a strong lead, it was Jack.

Jack's lead is successful as the Doctor didn't trip, fall over, or manage to knock down anyone around them. The Doctor would've considered it a miracle, though who was really counting?

Perhaps deep down he was secretly really enjoying this, but he would never actually admit this out loud. He's finally easing his posture and following Jack's cues more fluidly and easier, hopefully making the experience enjoyable for the both of them.

Jack's counting. Jack is thoroughly enjoying himself. He's more or less got over his century-long hankering after the Doctor, since having met up with him again, but there's still a bit of longing there, for the easy intimacy of their early days. It feels nice to recapture a bit of that, however fleetingly.

He grins as the Doctor starts to relax into it, slowing as the tune they're dancing to comes to an end and some very familiar opening notes sound out. (Okay, so it's a weird, Halloween-ey kind of version, but it's definitely recognisable.) Jack beams at the Doctor. "Fantastic! Remember this one?"

Different times - different body - but surely...?

The Doctor had hoped that was plenty for Jack, but this song happened to come on and... Ok, the Doctor can indulge him one more time. "I might remember a thing or two." It stirred memories of Rose that he deeply cherished and thought of more than he would ever admit.

And in a basic swing step, the Doctor showed up what moves he had, following the beat before finding himself in Jack's arms again.

The Doctor should know by now, Jack always wanted more, and wasn't afraid to push for it! He laughed out loud as the Doctor indulged him and started to jive, his heart light and happy. Given that this version of the Doctor was slighter than him and less accustomed to dancing, he took the lead this time, encouraging the Doctor to let rip with some swings under his arm and twirling him in and out again, before reeling him in for some fast, swaying pivots.

When the tune came to an end, he stayed there, swaying gently with him for a long, happy moment before finally relenting and untangling their arms, treating him to a light, uncomplicated smile. "Thank you," he said warmly, linking their fingers together to lead the Doctor off the dance floor once more.

The Doctor's skin was flushed and his smile was all teeth and excitement. He follows Jack once again off the dance floor and manages to find them two glasses of water. Handing Jack one, it only took a moment for the Doctor to polish it off.

"Would it be pathetic to admit that's the most fun I've had since arriving?" For once the Doctor wasn't lying.

The Doctor looked good like that. It was all too rare for the Doctor to relax and have fun, and Jack couldn't help enjoying the fact that he'd managed to make it happen. He drained his own water quickly, gratful for it.

"Of course not!" he assured the Doctor, smiling just as widely. "I find these dances some of the most fun things around here too. A lot of the things the AIs fling at us are nasty in the extreme. I do try to make the most of the good things they give us!"

"There's other dances?" Oh no. What was he in for in the future?

"Well, then I suppose I shouldn't complain about being trapped too much." Because everyone was allowed to have fun every once in a while. It wouldn't kill the Doctor to have a little fun himself, despite being bitter over being trapped here.

"Yeah, it's not just the anniversaries. Sometimes we have themed days and those end with a dance. And sometimes some of us put on a party for whatever reason - or no reason at all!"

He gave the Doctor a droll look. "And you can complain all you like - I can only imagine how hard it is for you, being stuck here with so little you can fight back at! Speaking of which... have you given any thought to joining the Defence Force? I was going to introduce you to the investigative team, wasn't I? And then I realised that the investigative team literally is just me, Ianto, Kitty and Checkov now. We could really use you on there!"

"I don't see why not!" It was the truth. After chatting to both Martha and Ianto about it, he was interested now.

"I'd like to crack this place as much as the rest of you lot wants to." Each day started out with the Doctor wanting to scream out in frustrating being trapped here, wandering the halls excessively, trying to memorize every nut and bolt possible, searching for answers and clues.

"Excellent!" he declared with a wide grin. "Well, you'll have to go through an interview, but that'll just be me and Kitty and/or Ianto again, I should think, so nothing scary! And you don't have to join a combat team if you don't want to. It's the Investigative Team that really needs you, I think!"

His eyes twinkled at the Doctor. "If nothing else, it might give you something to get your teeth into!"

((OOC: He'll need to sign up here))
