Oh wow, it must be a long time since we've talked! Ianto and I are in a threeway blue-band relationship with Spike now!

[He grins, because he's always had a huge love of springing that kind of reveal on people, though it fades as he addresses Nico's second question.]

And yeah, while I was a vampire. I couldn't control the hunger, and he offered up his neck. Luckily, he managed to stop me in time.

[Also, not actually the only time he's nearly killed his boyfriend. He leads that kind of life - always has, even before Marina.]

[He makes a strange face. He was just getting comfortable with the idea of two men together. Three is a baffling! Is that even legal?]

Congratulations?

Well, I'm glad you guys are okay now.

Oh, we're more than okay. Things are pretty fantastic, actually! [Well, they are with Ianto, and hopefully will be with Spike once they've actually talked about what happened the other night on poetry day.

Then, with a view to Nico's askance look:]
If it helps to get your head round it, it's really just Ianto and Spike, and Ianto and me at the moment. They started bonding after the soul thing, and Spike looked after him when I disappeared for a few days, and things really just built from there!

It kinda helps... My father is married to Persephone, but had loved my mother as well. [It was part of many demigods' life story, affairs. Though, this didn't seem like cheating. Also, he was pretty sure Persephone would not like his mother - she didn't like him.]

I guess healthy relationships are still a mystery. [Despite Chuck and Ton, and despite Yuuri.]

Mm, something like that, yeah. [Except that his is a mutually consenual arrangement, and he's not convinced from Nico's words that his father's was like that.] You can love more than one person at once. Love doesn't have to be exclusive, at all.

[He gives Nico a sympathetic look.] No luck on the boyfriend or girlfriend front yet? [He doesn't actually know about Yuuri.]

[He still looks a little skeptical. No, despite actually loving and taking care of his mistresses, and pushing the "no involvement" rule with his children, Hades was not like that.

He's surprised by the question - it must have been longer than he thought since they last spoke. But then, they hadn't made a spectacle of it. From conversations with Yuuki, it felt like even she hadn't known, and she was a good friend of Yuuri's and had lived with them!]

No. I mean... yes. But it doesn't matter anymore. He's gone now.

[He thinks he remembers having an inkling that Nico had someone he was interested in, but Nico was typically coy about it and so he never actually found out for sure, and certainly not who it was.]

You did... Oh, Nico, I'm so sorry.

[He knows how devastated he'd be if he lost Ianto; how devastated Ianto was when he thought he'd lost Jack.]

Yuuri. Yeah.

[He resolutely looks off to the side, and frowns when his voice cracks. He thought he'd been pretty good at holding it together so far. He shrugs at the condolence, not because he's ungrateful, but because he doesn't know how to respond to it.]

Yuuri? Huh. I didn't really know him well, but he seemed like a cute kid. I'm sorry you lost him. That really sucks.

Have you had people looking after you? Chuck and Ton? Kanji?

[He just nods. It does suck. A lot. Sighing, he looks back at Jack with a tight smile.]

Yeah. They've been great. A lot of people were really helpful.

[It confused him.]

Some. I mean, I expect it from family and friends, I guess. But there were other people too. It was weird.

Well, most of the people here are decent human beings. They tend to have sympathy for the loss of someone close to you.

Even decent people have their hang-ups. [He'd known plenty of perfectly decent people, who wanted nothing to do with him.] But ... I'm grateful.

True. [He inclines his head to acknowledge that one, because yeah, he's been on the receiving end of that too, in his time.]

I'm glad you've got people here. [He smiles, and then decides to change the subject before Nico gets too uncomfortable with it.]

So, how's the ghost thing working out for you? It certainly looks like you're having fun with it!

[He smiles back, more reserved. He's glad too.]

It scared me at first, but there's a big advantage to being able to walk through things.

[Jack frowns.] Can you not actually touch anything? Even if you want to? [That could be a bit nasty!]

I have to concentrate really hard to accomplish anything, and it doesn't always work. [He didn't like seeing things fall through him - even knowing he wasn't fading into a shadow, it made him feel sick - so he stopped trying.] But these things usually only last a day. It's fine.

Yeah, I know, but... Does that mean you can't even eat or drink anything, for instance?

Well, no. But I don't feel like I need to. [And it wouldn't be the first time he went a stretch without food. He doesn't think it's a big deal.] Ghosts don't need things like that, so... It's probably the same for me right now.

Fair point. Well, I'm glad that's not a problem for you, at least!

[He quirks an eyebrow.] Do you feel dead? I mean, do you feel like a real ghost, or are you just a spooky Halloween caricature of a ghost?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]nico_di_angelo

I feel like me. [He shrugs a little.] I think I would know if I were dead. I just feel ... insubstantial.

Yeah, I thought you'd know too, that's why I was interested. [He nods.] So, Halloween-style ghost it is. Is it weird, feeling insubstantial?
