333 - Rubber Ducky mingle
[Rubber Ducky, you're the one. You make everything so much fun. Which is why you'll find them just about everywhere. Maybe even in that pitcher of tea you just made. Never a dull day here in MarinaNova Asylum. Whether you are trying to beat the heat at the beach or at the pool or running errands you're going to encounter a lot of them.]

[The library is somewhat of an anomaly to Seyn. The rubber ducks have been strange and the sound of their squeaks as she steps on them grating to someone using to being silent. The prison is a very odd place, is all she can assume.

So she is walking through the library, grabbing books and flipping through them, just for the novelty of holding an actual book. Putting them back where they go? Nope, she's just setting them on the shelf or the nearest table.

Then she hears more squeaking and knows it's not from her, so she sticks her head around the side of a shelf. Braid trailing to the floor from her angle so she reflexively tosses it over her shoulder.]

No one could care this much about little yellow ducks.

[Sam looks over when he hears the unfamiliar voice.] I guess someone did today. Hi. [Stepping closer and taking her in. Pointy ears, long hair, scar on her face.]

[Oh he's a tall one. Bit on the skinny side from the looks of it. Might be faster than he looks...

And she really shouldn't be sizing him up like she would another fighter. They're in a library. Who fights in a library?]

Heya. [She steps from around the aisle, kicking little ducks that were lined along the bottoms of the shelves.] Do they usually do things like this? Prisons I've heard of never had such...weird recreation days.

They did something very similar with Tribbles once. Little fast-reproducing balls of fur. They keep things interesting. I'm Sam. [Nods.]

I'm Seyn. [She sets the book she'd been looking at down on the outside of the shelf.] And how interesting on your talking? Balls of fur don't seem so bad. Nothing a good pet shop can't fix. You wouldn't believe the kind of pets people buy back home.

[Like actual people.]

The balls of fur weren't the worst of it. You missed one of the more interesting days. At least I assume you got here yesterday?

[She nods.] Yeah, just blew in yesterday morning and it's been quite an experience settlin' in. Now what'd I miss?

We just woke up thinking we were in relationships that we weren't really in. New siblings, parents, spouses. It got complicated. It's probably a good thing you missed it. [Sam's life was even more messy than usual.]

[Now she truly thinks he's kidding.] They can't just alter our memories like that, can they? That's a lot worse than a pile of squeak toys.

You'd be surprised what they can do. [Sorry, totally serious over here.]

[That worries her. She bends down and picks up one of the little ducks, looking it over.]

Now I wonder if thee will explode with some kind of psyche gas. There's nothing about those two things that are alike. What's the point of them?

Rehabilitation? [Yeah, he has no idea either.] Maybe they're just mocking us or building morale. I don't know.

If rubber ducks are about morale, then I'm not sure what they'll do when they want to punish us.

[It's weird, but it's just a duck and doesn't seem to have anything wrong it. She even brings it up to sniff at it, trying to get a better sense of it's make up by the smell. Finally Seyn drops it down onto the pile of ducks where it makes a small, sad squeak.]

Good thing none of this is physical or there would be a big mess to clean up tomorrow.

[Okay, yes, he is eyeing you with the sniffing. Don't worry, he thinks it's probably some kind of animalistic ability and not a fetish. Or maybe that's more worrying coming from a hunter.]

Yeah, they'll probably have it all gone by the time we wake up. Or maybe they'll make it clean up the rubber ducks day and give us rehabilitation points if we sweep them into the lake or something.
