[Invasion of ducks. There could be worse things. A couple of them wind up in her daily shopping, and will later find their way into her bathtub. It's not weird. They're for her cat. She eventually finds one with what looks like a little vest painted on. All that's missing is wings on the back.]

	He's a friend from the Labyrinth. This little fox guy who has a dog name Ambrosia. Ambrosia is his trusty steed. When I met him, he was guarding a bridge in the Bog of Eternal Stench. Oh... well you see... I was really, REALLY upset with this book. It was called The Labyrinth, and the princess wished the Goblin King would take someone away. Well, I was all annoyed that I had to babysit my baby brother, Toby, because Irene always thinks that because I'm not going out with friends that I'm free to just babysit. And so I wished the Goblin King would take him away.

[She looks chagrined.]

I... I didn't realize he was actually real. But he was, and he took Toby. So I told him to bring my brother back. And he said only if I made it to the center of his Labyrinth before my time was up. But... now I'm here instead.

[Carol has seen this place as more of a blessing than a prison. Despite the oddities and, yes, the fact that they were prisoners - she felt far safer here than back on her own world. She had no desire to go back. But every once in a while, she came across someone who wanted to - or needed to - get home, and she wondered if it was selfish of her to want to stay and to not actively help in the effort to send everyone home.]

You seem very brave. I'm sorry you're stuck here, instead of out there saving your brother.
