Day 324 - Power Play mingle
[There's no fanfare today. The museum has something about the benefits of sheep's wool. There are no decorations up. The clothing shops have the same sort of stock they had yesterday. And there are no specialized dishes at the restaurants, but you can probably find a power bar at the convenience store, but there's nothing new there.

What is new is whatever power you woke up with or without today. What you do with that is up to you and whomever you encounter.]

Behold! I have mastered independent flight!

[Watch out, dome! No, really. Varrick has tails attached to his hind-end spinning like helicopter propellers and he's swerving all over the place. Stopping is still on the drawing board.]

[Sarah looks up at the sound and can't help but laugh.]

Independent flight? Kind of... but you have tails now!

I know! Isn't it fantastic? Whoop! [He suddenly dips down a bit before righting himself. He spreads his arms and tries tilting from side to side] I'm not convinced having the propellers so far back is the best placement.

No... no, I think the propellers would be much better somewhere else.

How did this even happen? Or were you like this when you arrived?

Of course not! I was like this when I woke up. The thing I can't figure is why.

Oh. Well... weird things happen in the prison sometimes. There was one day were people woke up as someone else entirely. And one day, dinosaurs chased us all around.

[It's rather remarkable how unphased she seems by this.]

I don't know why it happens. It just does.

Really? This is a regularly occurring phenomena? Are the effects permanent? [It's a bit of a struggle to keep himself at a level where he can talk without shouting at her, but he's getting better at it.] Not that this isn't fascinating, but I don't think I want to spend the rest of my life with a spinning tail.

Not this specifically. But weird things happen a lot here. They usually go away after a day or two...

That's a relief. Didn't you wake up with anything weird?

Not two tails. Nothing seems weird that I can figure.

So these things don't affect everyone? Is the selection random or predetermined?

[ Haruka has been wandering the dome today, waiting to see whether the roses that are sprouting everywhere she walks will wear themselves out. It looks like she's stuck with this, though, so she's just trying to stay outdoors.

When she hears that call, she looks up, observes something that is definitely flight but definitely not mastery, and looks away again.

She may have snorted. ]

[From up here, he can see the roses springing up behind this ... person - can't tell much from this height, would hate to assume - and decides it's worth investigating. Getting his butt to cooperate and get him to their level is the tricky part.

Oh, whoops. Maybe he should have tried getting himself closer to the ground before attempting slow-down maneuvers. Dropping right into their path screaming all the way down wasn't part of the plan.]

[ Haruka would certainly hope not.

If it looks like Varrick's on a crash course with her, she'll sidestep the...obstacle...with as much composure as the time she's allowed will provide. Either way, she's tipping her head up to inquire. ]
Can I help you?

[ Haruka debates attempting to drag this guy out of the sky, but thinks better of it. Not her problem, really. She'll get involved if he starts posing a bigger threat to pedestrians. ] Good luck with that.

[ And she turns to go, flowers sprouting in her wake - then thinks of something. She turns back. ] ....Have you been through Sector 0?

[He gives her a small salute and starts to rise when it looks like she's done with him, but hovers - or attempts to, when she throws back another question.]

Yes. Several times, in fact.
