[That's kind of an awkward question, considering that he doesn't know if she knows what happened with Tyki. He assumes she would have got in touch if she had seen the announcement, so he's erring on the side of caution by not mentioning it around her - which makes it hard to answer that question honestly.

He gets around that one by not answering it at all.]

I think it's brilliant too. Can't imagine how I'd have lasted without it here, if he wasn't here too. [A fleeting grin.] So clearly he's just being typically modest about his abilities, as usual!

[He leans over and taps a secret on the board.] By the way, what's wrong with toilet paper with patterns? I always thought it made it so much more interesting!

[Gwen sees him avoiding it. For a second, just a second, but there is something he isn't telling her. Although this isn't the first time. Jack lying or avoiding things isn't exactly knew to her. But she smiles softly, and moves on.

And then the last comment comes. The entirety of her face turns a bright red and she snatches the piece of paper down, crumbling it into her pocket.]

Shut up! It freaks me out alright? There is no need to put any off that in your... Business.

Gwen Cooper, I'm disappointed in you! I thought you'd grown more open minded than that, spending so much time with me!

[It is only very gentle teasing, though. And he does change the subject again:] By the way, if you want your gun back, all you have to do is save up a whole load of rehabilitation points and ask the wardens. That's how I got mine back.

I haven't really met anyone who is worth pointing it at, who is that dangerous here anymore? Most of the threats here don't need a gun to be a danger. They all seem to have special powers that we don't. So we do need weapons to take them down.

[He cocks his head a little.] Why don't you get involved with the Defence Force? It might make you feel better about everything - to feel like you're doing something worthwhile?

I haven't really run into any threats though Jack.[Gwen looks him up and down. She might not have been getting out of her way to talk to people, but she hasn't met anyone who she'd call dangerous.]

I think that souns a little American, no offense. We get weapons in case someone is a threat? Wouldn't that make us the threat?

I've been thinking about the defense force. A lot. But with the whole, "we're not really here" I sort of lost myself for a while.
