[Kitty is standing in a clothing store in Sector 4, trying not to freak out. She doesn't understand how it's possible, but she woke up decidedly pregnant ~~or at least her reflection did.~~ Not so much that it looks like she's giving birth any second, but more than enough to know it's not just that burrito from last night.

Shockingly, the prison clothing store does not carry maternity wear, but she needs something to...hide it. Until she can figure this out.

And eventually she'll have to leave the store, so there might be some attempts at stealth mode getting back to the apartment. Is it safe to airwalk through tree limbs while pregnant? Watch out for occasional falling leaves when she solidifies for a break.]

[She looks away from him—back to the mirror, back to the false reality she sees. Reaching up, she suddenly presses a hand to the mirror, pushing it back into the wall where it fuses with whatever was just on the other side as she withdraws her hand. No more mirror, but the false reality remains—inescapable.]

Of course I did. [The "of course" even surprises her a little because she hasn't let herself admit how much she wanted it—the future, the family, the happily ever after. Because she's never really believed she could have it. Not since she thought she was a little human girl with a dancing career in her future.]

[ Of course. Of course she did. They even talked about it once but he thought that was just... talk. Idle dreams they knew weren't possible as long as they were stuck here. Nothing real, nothing to pursue in a prison like this. Then again, emotions aren't rational. That's their very nature.

He wants to say he's sorry or something to comfort her or piss her off (a more likely outcome) but for once Doctor Spencer Reid is entirely out of words. No quotes to rely on. No statistics. Instead he steps in behind her, cautiously, arms sliding around her to tug her into a firm hug. ]

[At this particular moment she needed the hug a lot more than any words he could produce. She melts back against him and stays there for a few moments until ultimately twisting in his grasp to face him. Her head finds it's place on his shoulder and her arms make their way around to his back so she can hold on too.]

I'm sorry. [The words are small and somehow try to contain "thank you" and "I love you" at the same time. It's not very efficient for two little words not used to conveying so much.]

I know you know. [ And he feels it too. Not as strongly, he never really thought about the possibility of having kids before he met her and even then it was tentative. Something he wasn't ready to fully commit to, for so many reasons and only a few of them had to do with the prison. It's easier for him, he guesses. It was never part of the plan. ]

It's... hard. As long as we're here, it's not going to stop being hard.

[She would hold him tighter if it didn't mean squishing him and herself. There's still that part of her thinking she needs to protect the baby. It's not a fully conscious thought she can push a way.]

They would be a really cute, annoyingly smart team. [She laughs again, but there's sadness in it—a choked back sob. But this is good. It's a little release for what she's been holding in today.]

[ He nods, taking a seat next to her. Yeah, he's okay. Possibly because he hasn't had the chance to be all that invested in babies yet. It's just one more disappointment to deal with and if she really had been pregnant this situation would've been filled with a lot more not okay from his side. This is good, though. It doesn't really change anything in the end and if it does, it's not for the worse. ]

I'm more worried about you. [ He slips an arm across her shoulders, giving them a squeeze. ]

[She leans against him.] You usually are. [There's a little nuzzle out of instinct more than anything. This is their room. Their bed. He's holding her. It's not sexual, but it also may not be appropriate for their current standing. She doesn't think much about it either way at the moment.]

I'll be okay. It's just a lot of stuff I try not to think about that much.
