Day 296 — Real MarinaNova — Central Core Awakening
[The last thing you remember is walking through a glowing door. Whether that was a good decision or a bad one is going to depend heavily on how claustrophobic you are, because right now you are fully encased in a very streamlined, sophisticated pod. It is regulating your body temperature, monitoring your vital signs, administering nutrition and dozens of other odds and ends to keep your body functional and healthy during its stay.

You're not usually conscious for this part of things. If you were, it would be a pretty boring experience. On the plus side, there aren't any tubes or wires attached to you. Those are a little too outdated for technology like this. The other plus is that you can open your pod hatch with a push. Luckily for you, those muscles in your arms and legs haven't atrophied. That's part of the science, but it's not perfect. There will be some aching and discomfort.

Take a minute to take stock of everything. You're wearing a bodysuit you don't remember putting on. You're in a giant, spiraling room you've never set eyes on before and your powers—if you have any—are blocked. But you're not alone. There are other people pushing their own pods open or lying still and silent in theirs. In fact there is a very large number of pods. You might not recognize everyone, but that doesn't mean they weren't an inmate at one time—they were even if it was brief.

For the moment there are no bots coming for you, no alarms going off that you can hear, and no immediate threats. The space is vast and the doors aren't locked, but you also might not recognize them as doors or understand how to activate them just yet.]

(OOC: This mingle is for those who went through the doors only. There will be two additional mingles for those who went through the doors and one for those who stayed behind. This mingle should be confined to the central core. The next one will be for exploring. EVENT INFORMATION | REAL MARINANOVA INFORMATION. Make sure to read these links. They have additional information you'll need for this setting.)

He's in charge of the hunt for Zsinji so technically he's my boss. Or my boss's boss. I've never met him.

[Discussions of Han Solo will have to wait as he opens Chuck's pod. Looks like she didn't go through a door.] I'm glad she didn't have to wake up in this. It looks like a coffin.

[Another day and she might have asked more about Zsinji, but for her now her thoughts are elsewhere.] We should all be so lucky to have a coffin this nice. [She's seen too many mass graves. Piles of twisted bodies on the ground with no marker.]

Yeah, but she's already done that once. [At the risk of seeming mushy and romantic he brushes a bit of hair back from her face before he begins examining her vital signs. In his opinion she looks pretty even in a coma.] Everything seems normal so far, and I don't want to risk anything by messing with these machines.

[So mushy! But she gets it. Finds it sweet even as their is a pang of hurt while it makes her thoughts drift to Reid, but that's her own baggage.] Maybe we can find some empty ones to mess with. [She'd love to get her hands all up in their circuits. It's kind of her thing.]

[He waits until she seems distracted then stoops over Chuck for a quick fairytale style kiss. He doesn't expect anything to happen but it seems like the sort of this she would have been disappointed in him for not trying. Reluctantly he shuts the coffin and any hope of escape with it. He's not risking disconnecting her from that machine and he's not leaving here without her and that's that.] Come on, let's find you some electronics to mess with.

[So much for true love as a cure.]

Good idea.

[She makes a mental note of each person they walk past as they seek out an empty one until her feet stop whether she wanted them to or not. It's actually not Reid as Ton might be guessing, but that's pretty clear once he gets a peek at the white haired boy who looks a couple of years younger than her with the red facial markings, scars, and deep red arm.]

[She doesn't show it but his voice reminds her that he's there, pulling her out of her thoughts.] Allen Walker. He was my friend. [The first close one she really made here outside of maybe Tyki, but that was a lot more complicated.] From Tyki's world.

If I'm right about what's going on I wonder what makes people go offline? Warden whims or is something malfunctioning?

[He leans past her to begi examining him, doctor style.] If there is a malfunction it doesn't seem to have an impact on his life support or vital signs. Aside from the whole coma thing he's thriving.

Good to hear. [The words are a little soft. If it's this hard seeing Allen she's not sure she wants to find Reid, but she also knows she's not stopping until she does.] They're keeping our minds active and our bodies preserved.

...Except for those of us who get "lost." [You can almost see the air quotes.]

Hey, at least we know what lost means now. [He finishes checking Allen's pulse and gently pulls one of his eyelids open, bobbing his own head back and forth and using his glowing eye to track pupil movement and dilation instead of a flashlight.]

At least there's that. [She tilts her head thoughtfully.] Everything looking okay in there? And is this actually doctoring I'm watching or are you just putting on a good show?

It's improvised doctoring, which is the kind I'm best at. [He stops wiggling around and steps back.] Looks like some sort of medical coma. If you want to start messing around with the wires I'll keep an eye on him and let you know if you should stop.

[There's a pause and she wants to do it with someone else. Almost anyone else, but Allen would want it to be him. Of course he was a bit of a masochist... But they needed answers and she wanted to believe their safety was a priority for the wardens and they'd do something if anything went south that she and Ton couldn't fix.]

Tell me the second anything looks off. [She bends down to get a better look at the circuitry.]

I promise. [This is the sort of thing he lives for; weird medical things in dangerous situations. He keeps on set of fingers on Allen's pulse, watching closely for any sort of change. So far nothing.]

These panels weren't really designed for humanoid style hands. I wonder if the robots work them or if it's something else.

It might make sense. There are all those robots in the dome; maybe it was just easier to use them in real life, too.

Could be. Might also be in part to keep us from doing things like this. Would have been nice if they left a bucket of tools somewhere.

What, like a screwdriver? [He thinks for a moment, then pops open the access panel for his hand and starts rummaging around inside before handing her a thin metal strip that more or less fits the description. His hand doesn't seem too different aside from suddenly no longer moving.] Good thing these are easy to remove for replacement. Try not to bend it to much, and be advised if something does go wrong I'm suddenly much less useful.

They are good for poking and prying, so yeah. [But she didn't expect him to just have a screwdriver up in there.]

I'll be careful. I still need you to watch Allen. But you know, other than that it would be 100% recklessness with your bits and pieces.

As long as you don't need my eyeball I can handle watching. [He checks his pulse again, slightly more awkwardly this time as he's using his left hand.]
