Day 296 — Real MarinaNova — Central Core Awakening
[The last thing you remember is walking through a glowing door. Whether that was a good decision or a bad one is going to depend heavily on how claustrophobic you are, because right now you are fully encased in a very streamlined, sophisticated pod. It is regulating your body temperature, monitoring your vital signs, administering nutrition and dozens of other odds and ends to keep your body functional and healthy during its stay.

You're not usually conscious for this part of things. If you were, it would be a pretty boring experience. On the plus side, there aren't any tubes or wires attached to you. Those are a little too outdated for technology like this. The other plus is that you can open your pod hatch with a push. Luckily for you, those muscles in your arms and legs haven't atrophied. That's part of the science, but it's not perfect. There will be some aching and discomfort.

Take a minute to take stock of everything. You're wearing a bodysuit you don't remember putting on. You're in a giant, spiraling room you've never set eyes on before and your powers—if you have any—are blocked. But you're not alone. There are other people pushing their own pods open or lying still and silent in theirs. In fact there is a very large number of pods. You might not recognize everyone, but that doesn't mean they weren't an inmate at one time—they were even if it was brief.

For the moment there are no bots coming for you, no alarms going off that you can hear, and no immediate threats. The space is vast and the doors aren't locked, but you also might not recognize them as doors or understand how to activate them just yet.]

(OOC: This mingle is for those who went through the doors only. There will be two additional mingles for those who went through the doors and one for those who stayed behind. This mingle should be confined to the central core. The next one will be for exploring. EVENT INFORMATION | REAL MARINANOVA INFORMATION. Make sure to read these links. They have additional information you'll need for this setting.)

I'll ask you an honest question. [While he wants for a cigarette with growing intensity.]

How much do you think I care what anything here does? [He hasn't seen her in...]

Somewhere around not at all. But I have a feeling you care about the person it's keeping alive. [But she's also opened a pod lid. Hard not to really. This is more of a cover story than anything else. It just happens to also be true if you go the cautious way around things.]

[He shoots her a glance, softening but not by choice.

His eyes flick back to Road. Lingering there.]
... Where are we?

If I had to guess? [And she has been, a lot.] I'd say we're in MarinaNova Asylum and we're awake for it for the first time.

This happened - something like this happened before, in the other dome. Squall. [He may be a old century man but one thing he understands, thanks to Road, was dimensions.

He gets it. But he still broods about it.]
Do you think this was intentional?

[She nods.] And when Sentience took some of us down an elevator when he overthrew Acumen.

Not sure if it's intentional. Can't think of why they'd want us to see this. Unless it's a show of power.

Or a trick. [False hope, maybe.

But he looks again at Road. He used to hate her doors, now he misses them.]
But if it wasn't intentional, then we're not the only ones messing around.

You think they have more than a glitch working against them? [An interesting thought she didn't expect from Tyki. Once upon a time the engineers at the old prison seemed to undermine the warden, but the warden also made them prisoners, so it kind of stood to reason.]

There've been glitches. Too many of them, but. [He thinks about it. He recalls those shrill, cryptic voices.]

This is too fortunate for a glitch.

Probably true. If it is a glitch they'd probably just knock us out, put us back in and erase our memories of it. For all we know we've had this conversation before.

Perhaps. Maybe we're not awake at all, we just think we are.

The only reason to suggest otherwise is if we can actually gain something from this. [Something they wouldn't want us having.] Otherwise we'll wander blindly following their lead, like they want us to.

[She gives him a look before glancing around the room again.] And what do you want to gain from this, Tyki?

Believe it or not, I want out of this hell hole. [Maybe unlike her, but not unlike the rest.]

I know Road's dreams and they're not much different than this. So until we have a gain from this, I'm not convinced it's anything but a false lead.

Not exactly hard to believe. [She knows for the most part the only ones who want to stay are the dead. She used to think maybe Reid... But she knows better now.]

You think Road is doing this?

No. There's just similarities. [False realities. He doesn't trust anything.]

Fine, but what makes you trust this any less than what came before it?

I don't trust anything this place gives us, Kitty. That's what I'm saying.

Not until I have reason to. There's no point in false hope. [Not after this long.]

I'm not sure how much hope it is even if we're right. I doubt they'd be letting us mill about in here unless they were pretty confident we couldn't stop their operation.

Precisely. And unfortunately, I'm not great with their technology.

Nor am I able to do anything remotely useful right now unless you want pure manual labor. But what about you, can you do your little computer routine in any sense here? [He doesn't know how or why, but yes- he is admiring your skills here and admitting you're far better at it than him. Rare day for Tyki, alright?]

[She nods.] Their systems aren't like anything I've seen before, but it doesn't mean every concept is completely foreign. [There are some basic principals still being used even if the configurations are different.] I'll need time to sort it out and...there could be a risk to the people who haven't woken up. [Or there could be if she tears up too much of it trying to figure it out. Reid is in one of those. Allen. Itachi. Neil. She has people here.] But I need to learn what I can.

Alright. [He puts his hands on his hips as he looks around.]

Where do you want me, or what do you want me to do. [Another rarity, contribution to the good of the many? Shh, don't hold this against him.]

[When he's trying to help like this would it be wrong to tell him she wants him back in his pod asleep? But it probably is a good idea to at least keep an eye on him. He may not have his powers, but that doesn't mean he couldn't do some damage to defenseless bodies.] Keep watch out for me in case they send anything in to round us up.

... Sure. [He quirks a brow at that, amused around the edges.]

If you want to keep me close, you can just say it. Your ego will recover.
