Day 296 — Real MarinaNova — Central Core Awakening
[The last thing you remember is walking through a glowing door. Whether that was a good decision or a bad one is going to depend heavily on how claustrophobic you are, because right now you are fully encased in a very streamlined, sophisticated pod. It is regulating your body temperature, monitoring your vital signs, administering nutrition and dozens of other odds and ends to keep your body functional and healthy during its stay.

You're not usually conscious for this part of things. If you were, it would be a pretty boring experience. On the plus side, there aren't any tubes or wires attached to you. Those are a little too outdated for technology like this. The other plus is that you can open your pod hatch with a push. Luckily for you, those muscles in your arms and legs haven't atrophied. That's part of the science, but it's not perfect. There will be some aching and discomfort.

Take a minute to take stock of everything. You're wearing a bodysuit you don't remember putting on. You're in a giant, spiraling room you've never set eyes on before and your powers—if you have any—are blocked. But you're not alone. There are other people pushing their own pods open or lying still and silent in theirs. In fact there is a very large number of pods. You might not recognize everyone, but that doesn't mean they weren't an inmate at one time—they were even if it was brief.

For the moment there are no bots coming for you, no alarms going off that you can hear, and no immediate threats. The space is vast and the doors aren't locked, but you also might not recognize them as doors or understand how to activate them just yet.]

[ it'll be a few seconds before deanna registers that anyone's said anything at all and a few more before she can force herself to look up and find the person who belongs to that voice. when she does, her black eyes are rimmed with red, tear stains crossing her cheeks. the only time before this that she's fallen apart in the prison was that first night. but back then, she'd had will's comforting embrace to help her deal with shinzon's wake and her lack of empathic powers.

now she's alone. well, she has her friends, one of whom stands beside her, but they aren't quite the same. still, they are all she has and for once the counselor needs help. ]

Martha. [ she tries for a smile, but it comes out very shaky and strained, before she looks back at riker's immobile form. ] I wish you could have met him while he was still-- [ alive. conscious. here. ] He would have liked you.

[ deanna of course nods and sits back to allow martha room to look at him. deanna trusts martha as a doctor and she's likely one of the only people here whom deanna would allow to look at her husband right now. ]

How is he? [ her voice is soft, as though she isn't sure she can handle the answer. ]

I can't sense anything. I can't even feel his presence. [ they've had a talk about riker before and about deanna's abilities, so martha should know how terribly cut off she feels right now. it's like deanna's lost herself again, the part of her that is her abilities and the part of her that's linked with her husband. ]

[She lifts his eyelids. Everything seems to be normal. Other than the fact that he's unconscious.]

I wish I knew. Everything about him screams healthy and normal. Minus the coma. It's all over too. So far, the only people I see who seem comatose are those who vanished from the prison.

[Which brings a whole other group of questions to the forefront of her brain.]

I can't decide if that's a good thing or not.

[ it probably isn't. but at least she's assured that will is alive, as are the others like captain picard. ]

Is there anyone you know here?

[ has martha located anyone she knows, like doctor magnus, whom deanna is certain captain picard would have been looking for if he were awake. ]

I've seen similar. It's difficult to see anyone like this, but especially those we knew well.

[ at least they all seem to be alive. that's something. ]

We should likely take a look around, see what we can find out while we're here.

[ difficult as it will be to leave will here, deanna logically knows they need information. the more they have when they get sent back, if they do, the better. ]

	[ deanna takes one last long look at her husband. yes. no. yes... and then she slowly shakes her head. ] No. If he's still alive, it might do him harm to move him from there.
