Day 296 — Real MarinaNova — Central Core Awakening
[The last thing you remember is walking through a glowing door. Whether that was a good decision or a bad one is going to depend heavily on how claustrophobic you are, because right now you are fully encased in a very streamlined, sophisticated pod. It is regulating your body temperature, monitoring your vital signs, administering nutrition and dozens of other odds and ends to keep your body functional and healthy during its stay.

You're not usually conscious for this part of things. If you were, it would be a pretty boring experience. On the plus side, there aren't any tubes or wires attached to you. Those are a little too outdated for technology like this. The other plus is that you can open your pod hatch with a push. Luckily for you, those muscles in your arms and legs haven't atrophied. That's part of the science, but it's not perfect. There will be some aching and discomfort.

Take a minute to take stock of everything. You're wearing a bodysuit you don't remember putting on. You're in a giant, spiraling room you've never set eyes on before and your powers—if you have any—are blocked. But you're not alone. There are other people pushing their own pods open or lying still and silent in theirs. In fact there is a very large number of pods. You might not recognize everyone, but that doesn't mean they weren't an inmate at one time—they were even if it was brief.

For the moment there are no bots coming for you, no alarms going off that you can hear, and no immediate threats. The space is vast and the doors aren't locked, but you also might not recognize them as doors or understand how to activate them just yet.]

(OOC: This mingle is for those who went through the doors only. There will be two additional mingles for those who went through the doors and one for those who stayed behind. This mingle should be confined to the central core. The next one will be for exploring. EVENT INFORMATION | REAL MARINANOVA INFORMATION. Make sure to read these links. They have additional information you'll need for this setting.)

I'm not really assuming anything. I don't even know where to start with this.

[She glances around.] Maybe we can find the control panel. Shut it down? [Would he wake up or would it kill him?]

Finding the control panel is a good idea.

[He'll have to reserve judgment on the shutting down part until he gets a look at it.]

And if we're really lucky, we'll find somebody that actually knows what's going on along the way.

[She starts walking around Robin's pod, taking it all in as she tries to decide where the panel might be. Maybe if she just starts hitting buttons? Not that she will.] It's like we're all taking turns being this way. [Whether it was her getting piay lot.

Yeah, well, I would've been more than happy to skip my turn.

[Who knows how long he was stuck in one of these pods before he woke up.]

So did you walk through some weird, glowing door too?

[Nodding.] In the athletic center. I always just thought it led to a supply closet or something. [But mostly she just didn't think about the door. It never seemed that suspicious until it was opening on it's own and glowing.]

Did they want us to find this?

(OOC: What did I even write there at the end? I'm pretty sure you got caught in the "Haunt is determined to do tags even if she is falling asleep" mode.)

It'd be a pretty big screw up if they didn't.

[He has no idea why they would want them to see this but who knows why they do anything they do.

Not having any luck finding a control panel on Robin's pod, he takes a curious glance into one of the pods next to his best friend.
]

Hey, isn't this the guy that teaches that paranormal studies class? [Yep, it's Sam. The same Sam Wally was pretty sure he saw earlier that day in the dome.]

(OOC: No worries! We've all been there.)

[She moves over for a look.] That's him. Shouldn't he be waking up or something?

Maybe he didn't walk through one of those doors like we did?

[There's only one small problem with that theory.]

Still wouldn't explain why he's here, though. [If you're operating under the assumption that only those that get "lost in the dimensional stabilizer" end up here like he is.] I mean, he couldn't have gotten "lost" if he's still in the dome.

[She's on the same track. It was a good assumption that made sense up until now.] And these other people don't look very lost to me. Not physically anyway.

[He sighs, and runs a hand through his hair.]

...you don't think they've gotten lost in another way, do you?

I don't know what to think, but I really wish they'd start waking up. [It's a little creepy.]

Yeah. This is a little...weird.

[He stares intently into Sam's pod as he continues to try and piece all this together. How could people still inside the dome and those who have been long gone all be here? What other way could people "get lost"? There's only one possibility that he can think of.]

Artemis, what if... What if this is the real prison?

[There's a hesitant look.] What do you mean? [A little afraid she already knows what he means.]

[His eyes leave Sam's pod to look at her.]

I mean what if the dome is all in our heads. You know, sort of like something Martian Manhunter could do.

[His way of bringing up that dreadful training simulation they had back home without having to actually mention it.]

It's just that everybody is here in these pods, right? Maybe getting lost is like they've just gotten disconnected from the link somehow.

[He didn't need to mention it directly. Her mind was already back there. She looks away from him to look out over all the pods and nods.]

It makes a lot of sense. Kind of wish it didn't. [Eyes back to him.]

So this is it, right? This is our chance to get out?

[It's his turn to nod.]

We just gotta end the link. [There's no way he's leaving Rob and the others like this.] Of course that means we have to find the source first. [And he has no idea where to even begin with that.]

Button mashing would be bad here? [She's wondering just how dependent everyone is on these tanks.]

We're not going to mash any buttons until we know what we're doing.

[He shares her curiosity about the pods, but not enough to actually go randomly pressing buttons.]

C'mon, let's go scope this place out. [He really doesn't want to hang out around Robin's pod anymore.] I bet we're not the only ones that walked through one of those doors.

Yeah, I didn't think so. [She looks around in non-Robin directions.] Did you do a fast lap to check things out already?

[It's hard to know powers are out when you don't have any.]

Nope. I'm just as slow as you are right now.

[He gives the collar around his neck a few tugs to indicate the problem and the following electric shock sends him to a knee.]

...okay. [Ouch, that hurt.] Remind me not to do that again.

[That shock just saved him from getting a lecture about calling her slow.] Yeah, good call. [She leans down to help him back up.] Shock collar, huh? Being awake doesn't exactly mean we're free. [The giant facility was also an indication of that.]

Gotta give them credit for covering their bases.

[He smirks a little as he gets to his feet with her assistance.]

You know, this means I might need you to beat something up for me if we run into any problems.

[He's kidding. Sort of. He's not completely helpless without his powers, but her hand-to-hand skills are far superior to his.]

I just hope there's something to beat up. [She could use the outlet, but also] At least then we'd have someone to defeat and maybe we could get out of here.
