Day 296 — Real MarinaNova — Central Core Awakening
[The last thing you remember is walking through a glowing door. Whether that was a good decision or a bad one is going to depend heavily on how claustrophobic you are, because right now you are fully encased in a very streamlined, sophisticated pod. It is regulating your body temperature, monitoring your vital signs, administering nutrition and dozens of other odds and ends to keep your body functional and healthy during its stay.

You're not usually conscious for this part of things. If you were, it would be a pretty boring experience. On the plus side, there aren't any tubes or wires attached to you. Those are a little too outdated for technology like this. The other plus is that you can open your pod hatch with a push. Luckily for you, those muscles in your arms and legs haven't atrophied. That's part of the science, but it's not perfect. There will be some aching and discomfort.

Take a minute to take stock of everything. You're wearing a bodysuit you don't remember putting on. You're in a giant, spiraling room you've never set eyes on before and your powers—if you have any—are blocked. But you're not alone. There are other people pushing their own pods open or lying still and silent in theirs. In fact there is a very large number of pods. You might not recognize everyone, but that doesn't mean they weren't an inmate at one time—they were even if it was brief.

For the moment there are no bots coming for you, no alarms going off that you can hear, and no immediate threats. The space is vast and the doors aren't locked, but you also might not recognize them as doors or understand how to activate them just yet.]

Those are my favorite kinds. Let's hear it. [She's not the only one moving slow. His hand seems a bit stiff, too, but a few wiggles of his fingers loosens it up a bit. His leg is proving to be a bit more problematic and it's still makings those unhappy noises every time he tries to bend his knee. It feels like his power packs are running low, but that doesn't make any sense. He replaced them just a few days ago, didn't he?]

This is my third time waking up feeling like this. The first was during a coup in the old prison where the old warden overthrew the one who supplanted him. The second was Squall. [She can't quite remember if Ton was around for that.] It was a prison we were all transferred to when a giant sea monster took a literal crack at the dome. The first time I didn't see them, but other people found bodies of former inmates. They seemed like they were sleeping like this. I don't remember anything about containment tanks, and I sure as hell never woke up in one, but maybe they're doing things differently this time around.

Anyway... The theory goes that everything we experience in the prison is basically in our minds. Collective minds so we're seeing it together. Like a virtual, astral kind of thing.

Which would make this [looking around] where are bodies are being stored.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of former inmates. I've recognized everyone so far. I want to do a lap, check out the pods and see who else is down, but we need to figure out what's going on too. Why hasn't anyone come to put us back to sleep? Why did those doors open and let us wake up in the first place if that really is what happened? There was more than one door, right? Or were you following me? [But from the number of other heads popping up that didn't quite track.]

Different door although I did hear your announcement right as I stepped through. Hey, like I could resist a glowing thing, right?[He actually grins; this sort of situation is something he thrives in and he's missed weird danger.] I have three additions to make to your otherwise flawless plan. One, I am obviously in Chuck rescue priority mode. Two, I want to crack one of these things open and do a quick medical examination on an unsuspecting stranger. Maybe even one on the two of us if we have time, which I doubt. And three, in a follow up to my first question; you've been here longer than me. Do you know anyone who has actually died in prison? Because I would be very interested to see if they're here and what sort of state they're in.

Itachi died and he's here, but it's a little complicated because he came back at a different age and no memories after that later. I could probably recognize the guy Rido killed if I saw him though. I don't think he ever came back. I can check around. [There was also the Earl, but Allen wasn't even sure if he managed to kill him or if something else had happened.]

And if you think your medical exam is safe then why not just do it on Chuck? [She doesn't like the idea of just finding someone random.]

[She makes a mental note of each person they walk past as they seek out an empty one until her feet stop whether she wanted them to or not. It's actually not Reid as Ton might be guessing, but that's pretty clear once he gets a peek at the white haired boy who looks a couple of years younger than her with the red facial markings, scars, and deep red arm.]
