Day 275 / Video / Locked to Defence Force
[Jack appears on the screen, a glimpse of his living room behind him. He looks pretty calm, and a lot more centred than he has done recently. Finally getting the best of Spike (because even if he died, Spike still has to heal) has done wonders for his confidence regarding getting the situation settled once and for all.]

I figure it's about time for a general update on the Spike situation. I've spoken to quite a few of you about this over the last week or two, but a general pooling of information would seem sensible.

Everyone should by now be aware that five nights ago Spike went on a bit of a spree. I don't know exactly how many people he attacked, but we have reports or punishment notices for Ton Phanan, Piper Halliwell, Nico di Angelo, Martha Jones and Clay Kaczmarek. There may have been considerably more.

I haven't heard of any fatalities so I'm assuming there weren't any, since he's been pretty careful so far not to kill anyone who wouldn't come back. But if you know of anyone who got killed, or anyone else who got hurt, please let us know – and please encourage people to tell the Defence Force if something like this happens. We can't help if we don't know!

Anyway, I think I've managed to put Spike out of action for a while, so hopefully we have time to do what we need to do to make sure he's not a threat to people's safety any longer. Which means putting his soul back into his dead, demon-possessed body to give him back his moral compass.

Ladies with the magical abilities, how are we doing with the spells? Let us know if there's any ingredients or anything you need, and we'll see if we can get them for you. [One of the spells he found mentioned something called an Orb of Thesulah, and he's not at all sure that's something that can be found within the dome. But there were other spells, and he's had the magic users looking them over for him for feasibility.]

The rest of you? We need rehabilitation points to get Spike's soul back. I spoke to the wardens yesterday and they confirmed that we can pool points for it, but it's going to need a lot of them. So anyone who has any spare points, please can you let me know? Conscienti said you'd need to give consent in person, but we can deal with that nearer the time. For now, all I need is a list of people who are willing to donate points, and once I have that I can go back and ask if that's enough points for what we need. So, names, please!

Aside from that: patrol. Spike seems to have slunk off to lick his wounds for the moment, but I don't know where he's holed up and I don't know how long we have. So patrol. Look out for him or any kind of trouble that he might be behind – as well as the normal stuff, of course. Spike's not necessarily the only threat we have here.

[He takes a breath.]

Okay, I think that's all for now. Questions, comments, suggestions?

[Private video to Anya]

Hey, can I talk to you about Spike?

((OOC: Feel free to approach Jack in person rather than over the network if you prefer. He can be found pretty much anywhere in the dome: at HQ, patrolling (Sectors 0-2), in the library, getting coffee, near his apartment (Sector 4), or even going for his daily swim in the sea! :-)

Also, if you want your character to donate rehabilitation points but don't want the hassle of threading it out, feel free to leave an OOC response to that effect here too, to keep everything in one place!))

Kitty... mark... II...? [That confused him a little, but he caught on as Jack finished the statement.]

If he is strong enough, we will need a lot of 'numbers' and 'force'.

Sorry, the younger Kitty. I got to know the other one really well before I even met the younger one, so sorry, yeah, to me she's kind of 'mark II'.

[And he does have a habit of giving people nicknames.]

I don't think he's all that strong, fortunately. It seems like some of his strength has been limited here by the wardens. But yeah, we'll need to look into who here would be best suited to help out with the capturing side of things.

Your speciality is computers, isn't it? [So not an immediately obvious useful skill in this case, but he's not ruling it out either.]

Mm.

[Well, his 'specialty' was a little awkward in the current circumstances, and hard to explain.]

In a way. I was designed more for combat than data processing. However, we do not have vampires where I am from. It was not exactly something on the list of potential foes we were created to go against.

[And hand-to-hand hadn't exactly been top of the list of combat types, either. Artillery, various types of vehicular combat, mobile suits... He could fight, sure, and he was good at tactical planning, but someone else would like be a better candidate for this particular situation.]

You know, it's fascinating how many of us have never met a vampire before, considering how many different kinds we have here. Or perhaps we have met them, we just didn't know it.

Anyway, if you think of some particular way your skills could be useful, let me know. Otherwise, well. [He quirks a grin.] We could certainly use you to make up the numbers.

I have heard that theory. I highly doubt it for my world.

[Not when VEDA existed.]

If we know all the skills and strengths and weaknesses of all involved, that would help establish a tactical strategy. It was something I trained in back home.

[After Sumeragi had left, they needed another tactical officer. She was the expert and Tieria had gladly deferred back to her and even Setsuna upon their respective returns, but he had acted in her place until then.]

Strategy, eh? Well, I certainly wouldn't say no to a tactical advisor. How about I work out who we might get on board, and then I'll come back to you for any insights you might have?

[He nodded.]

That would be fine.

[He considered for a moment.]

I am not certain how many points I have, but I have been assistant teaching the economics class for some time now. I am not sure if serving on the Defense Force counts, but I have also been taking some courses. I know the Wardens seem to like when people do constructive things at the Academy. It may count for something.

If you still need them, you can take some of my points as well. I was saving them for a future request, but this is important enough to put that off for a little longer.

Thanks, sounds like you'll have quite a lot! Apparently the Defence Force does count, which I think is a little ironic but certainly useful in this case.

If you like, I can leave you till last on the list in case we don't actually need everybody's points. I have no idea how many we actually have, nor how many we'll need.

[He nodded to both statements.]

I would appreciate that.

[His request was going to be a big one. The waiting and guessing on if he might have enough was getting to him, but he could be patient.]

No problem. I'll let you know whether we need your points as soon as I know myself - and about the rest of it too.

[A smile.] Thanks, Tieria.
