[ action | open | mingle style ] Cooking Class
[Piper had the cooking lab set up and ready to go. She was nervous as all heck, but she was as ready to do this as she was ever going to be. She found herself questioning why she was doing this, but no point in running that through her head now.]

Hello, everyone, and welcome to Cooking Class.

[She gave them all a somewhat nervous smile.]

This is a first for me, so I'm looking for a lot of feedback on this one. What are you interested in learning? What are you current skills? Stuff like that. We can do recipe courses, like what you see on a cooking show, or we can teach specific techniques for people who are looking for something more rudimentary.

[She picked up her apron.]

I have some extra aprons in the back, so grab one if you didn't bring your own. Cooking can get pretty messy, even when you know what you're doing.

[She put the apron on, and, while everyone was getting theirs, handed out a sheet of paper with a recipe on it.]

We're going to start with a simple recipe today so I can figure out where everyone is in their skill level.

[ so elena's not exactly the best cook, but she's going to try. cereal and coffee aside, she's mostly relied on takeout the last few years. maybe being a vampire means she doesn't need food necessarily, but she likes to eat and eating does curb cravings. not to mention she lives with bonnie, who definitely still needs to something edible in the apartment.

she chooses an apron, puts it on, and sets to work, trying to follow the directions just right. ]

[ Stefan might be the better cook in the family, but Damon's not all too bad at it. In fact, he might be a bit of a natural at it because his parmesan chicken is looking all five star-ish even if he's just basically spent the better part of the last hour staring at Elena's ass. There's a reason why he chose to work in this particular section of the class. Clearly wanted the best view.

Walking over; having decided to finally say hello and take a look at how Elena's doing, he makes a face as he moves to stand beside her. ]

Being a good chef is like being in love, Elena. It's all about the heart. It's not this. [ He taps a finger on his temple. ] Forget the recipe. What does your heart tell you? More salt? More pepper? More spice?

[ don't think she didn't notice you back there, damon. in fact, she side-eyed you with quite the expression of disbelief and curiosity when you walked in and grabbed an apron.

but, considering she's not here to wonder why you would need a cooking class, she concentrated on her own food and talked to the people actually around her. (she's really not doing well with this sauce btw. it's thin and definitely on too high a temperature.) it's really a sign of how frustrated she is that she's answering him seriously. she throws her hands up and turns towards him. ] I... don't know. Shouldn't a recipe be right? I followed it exactly.

Rules are boring. [ He pouts. ] And so are instructions. [ Not at all being helpful here. Damon tugs on the front pocket of Elena's apron. ] I'd tell you to stick to making chili, but... [ The Gilberts have never been famous for their Chili. Infamous maybe. ]

Are you planning on cooking for someone special? [ Should he be jealous? ~~Or gleeful for whoever's going to have a taste of this--wow.~~ ]

[ damon salvatore: never helpful. also, damon salvatore: wandering hands edition. (which is not entirely appropriate and yet she doesn't protest.) she gives him a look for that family recipe dig; it's not that bad. (although she hopes charlotte likes it...) ] Myself, Bonnie. [ she's definitely not going to tell damon about making chili for charlotte now. ] What are you doing here? [ her voice has softened. she's not complaining about his presence. ]

[ If she had been planning on feeding Sam Winchester, he doubts she would tell him. Then again, why wouldn't she? No. She wouldn't. Or would she? He's clearly overthinking this. It doesn't matter. Except for the fact that it matters all too much who Elena Gilbert has her eyes on.

Damon's being Damon. He wants to distract her. It's why he invades her personal space at every opportunity, and why, right now he's still got that finger hooked on her apron, inching her closer towards him. ]

I wanted to see you. [ Plain and simple. ] We've both been busy. [ He was giving her some space, but now he's over it. He misses her. ] You and your early morning jogs, cheerleading... classes... new hairdo. [ Obviously he's been keeping up despite staying a little distant. ]

[ things are complicated between her and sam, just like they're complicated right here. not that she'd admit in varying degrees to those complications with sam or damon, but they exist. certain ones are charging the air between them right now: it's the combination of realizing his still tugging on her apron (she stays exactly where she is) and what he's saying.

which for the record has an affect and isn't fair. she looks away when he says he wanted to see her, tries not to feel the thrill it gives her along with her justifiable frustrations. she lets out a tense breath; it's a laugh and its humorless and bottoms out her lungs. ] Well, you're allowed to take a cooking class, I guess. [ she's not impressed. ]

[ s-such snark and harshness and being hurt. but she means it, even though she doesn't and she doesn't want to hurt him, and that's why she meets his eyes unabashedly. and yet there's a flutter in her lashes; a lack of resolve as she continues. ] We've had this conversation. [ you know, the one that ended in them ripping each other's clothes off. ]

Maybe I need a reminder... [ Seeing as to how Elena's decided to play at being a total statue, Damon gives up with the playful tugging and instead takes a step closer towards her. They shouldn't interrupt the class with any loud discussion is what he would tell her, but instead: ]

We're bad for each other. I shouldn't... invite you over. Or kiss you. Or have my way with you.

And vice versa. [ And wouldn't he like that is what the look on his face says, but wow -- ignore that ] And unlike all this cooking we're doing, when it comes to you, I so shouldn't listen to what my heart tells me. I should listen to all the reasons why it's a very, very bad idea to keep perusing what I want. Who I want.

So go ahead, Elena. [ He leans in to whisper the next two words in her ear. ] Remind me. [ Of course he's doing this. It's typical Damon behaviour. The moment he can't have what he wants... ]
