261 — open video//closed action to roommates
[ The video feed comes on early, just after the morning greeting. Aidan is definitely looking worse for wear, perpetually stifling a yawn and doing what he can to drown himself in the first pot of coffee of the day. It's been a few rough nights since Euphie moved in and not for the reasons one may suspect. ~~Or maybe exactly for the reasons one may suspect~~. ]

So, uhm... [ Clearing his throat. ] Anyone got any advice for stayin' awake when coffee don't cut it no more? I've tried cold showers, but uhm... I got a feelin' I'll give m'self a cold if I keep that up.

Anythin' would be helpful. Please.

[ Whoa okay we're hugging now? He can do hugging, even if there's a slight delay in reciprocation. Sleep deprived and all that, but at least he tries to make up for it in the warm way he wraps his arms around her.

And right then, something just falls into place that eases the dissonance he's been feeling ever since they kissed on mistletoe day. It's something he hasn't wanted to examine too closely but that doesn't make it any less true and now, with his heart beating so strongly, he can't really lie to himself anymore. It's not just that she's a girl who's all warm and soft in bed next to him, it's that she's Euphie. It's that when he hugs her, it feels like everything will be okay. It's that, little by little, he's letting go of the boy he saved so he can save himself and that is the scariest thing of all because without Helix, what is he?

Nothing. A whole lotta nothing.

And that's also why he doesn't say anything. She can't even know, just on the off-chance that she might feel the same way or even more so that she wouldn't. He can't afford to lose any more friends. He can't and so he keeps quiet, just hugs her and fills his lungs with her scent and tries really hard to just let go. ]

[He doesn't have to try so hard right away. After all, she doesn't mind if the hug lingers. There is a lot of gratitude in these arms of hers for taking her in when it seems that it has been nothing but trouble for him from convincing Sougo to taking up half his room to ruining his sleep. She wants so badly to make things better for the people she cares about. Why does she so often fail at it? Maybe it's just a good sign that she managed this far with no more deaths in her wake. When she finally does pull back she looks up into his eyes.]

You'd tell me if it was something I was doing, wouldn't you? If I was...being restless or making sounds in my sleep? [She's woken up cocooned in blankets or with them tossed away entirely. She knows her rest isn't always peaceful, but it has felt peaceful lately.]

[She's not sure what to do with need—his or hers! She hasn't had a lot of experience. There have been many kissed due to bots, but those kisses are always...polite for lack of a better term. Some fond. Some sweet. But they aren't passionate. Even with Gino and Ryoji as they began to date it was so new nothing had gotten very far and yet here she was bringing her arms around Aidan again and parting her lips for him with her own soft sound. If she were thinking right now she might wonder if they were being affected by something in the prison.]

[ He really wishes that he could sit her down and explain what's going on in his head lately, how he's started to question what he and Helix even had and that maybe he should try and let go sooner rather than later, but words were never easy and so he ends up mangling them into something that isn't quite what he wanted it to be. ]
