Evening 241 } Action } Open Mingle
[ As mentioned by the wardens yesterday, Eric is hosting a costume party. The Blood Shack is lit by candles for the evening (he remembers the last party he had being interrupted by a power outage) and a small buffet of sorts has been erected. It furnishes mostly hors d'oeuvre and finer foods, things that Caroline picked out as Eric hasn't a clue about human food.

There is blood on tap (naturally) as well as a full bar. Eric has made certain to include water, sodas, tea and various non-alcoholic drinks.

The jukebox is playing a variety of music, but patrons are always invited to pick out their own music. The dance floor has a disco ball and there's the ever present 'dancing' pole on stage if someone gets brave. Tables are scattered about as are sofas and chairs so that people have a choice where they sit.

Enjoy yourself, mix, mingle and admire everyone's costume and everyone is required to have a costume in order to be here. ]

I don't know. [ If he wasn't looking all too serious before, he's certainly looking all frowny faced now. ] I just saw my brother and I think he's dressed as a stripper. How is he the fun one all of a sudden? [ He switches his glass for a bottle of bourbon. ]

Maybe I'm starting to feel my age. I spent the entire afternoon reading in front of the fireplace. [ All 495 pages of The Iron Heel by Jack London. He would've picked up The Sea Wolf next if he hadn't decided on attending the party -- to keep an eye on the "children". ]

Maybe you should have chosen a more "fun" costume. [ not that she's really complaining all that much because damon's idea of "fun" could be a bit dicey here, but she doesn't like seeing him upset anyway. ]

Sounds like you and I need to go walk around again. [ aka go on patrol. either here at the party or around the dome itself. ] Come on. Maybe we'll see some interesting costumes.

[ talk to her damon. even if it's normal stupid stuff, at least talk. ]

Don't. [ damon 8| siiigh. she does take his arm because they both know it's not serious and besides that, it gives them reason to talk softer. if they decide to, of course. ]

I can tell you why it's a bad idea right now. [ don't make her find something wooden to impale you with, damon. she might not like to but if it comes down to it, liz will at least incapacitate him if she can. ]

She's screwing... dating my brother. Of course we're talking. [ Occasionally... Also -- a big oops if Liz has no idea Caroline's being super duper friendly with one Salvatore. No one told him to keep his big fat mouth shut. Besides, that whole - they had sex - thing was announced by the warden. ]

actually, she did know that. more or less. she knew they're a thing, but hadn't quite put all of the details together. thanks for that. she does shoot him a look at the word "screwing." damon, damon, damon. ]

Then why the concern about whether or not she and I are getting along?

[ liz... the concern means something. be honest with yourself; your relationship with your daughter has always been rocky. ]

You're my friend. Of course I'd be concerned. [ He knows it was hard for Liz to accept that her daughter's a vampire and they had to compel her to forget the first time she'd found out about it, but it's a good thing she's come to sort of accept that. After all, it's not like Caroline ever chose this for herself. It was Katherine's doing. ]

Your daughter might be a vampire, but she's still one of the good ones. You must have done something right.
