Evening 241 } Action } Open Mingle
[ As mentioned by the wardens yesterday, Eric is hosting a costume party. The Blood Shack is lit by candles for the evening (he remembers the last party he had being interrupted by a power outage) and a small buffet of sorts has been erected. It furnishes mostly hors d'oeuvre and finer foods, things that Caroline picked out as Eric hasn't a clue about human food.

There is blood on tap (naturally) as well as a full bar. Eric has made certain to include water, sodas, tea and various non-alcoholic drinks.

The jukebox is playing a variety of music, but patrons are always invited to pick out their own music. The dance floor has a disco ball and there's the ever present 'dancing' pole on stage if someone gets brave. Tables are scattered about as are sofas and chairs so that people have a choice where they sit.

Enjoy yourself, mix, mingle and admire everyone's costume and everyone is required to have a costume in order to be here. ]

[ooc: I've turned off replies so if you want Eric's attention please tag his thread. Mingle here, have fun and be merry? Everyone is invited, including and especially newbies. ]

[Klara wonders if he's not good at picking out costumes considering how little effort a devil costume like that takes. She almost feels amusement, but it's somewhat submerged by the embarrassment she feels after their last conversation. She talked about things with him that she had only spoken to Eric about.

Her uncertainty does not show on her face, if anything she becomes more stoic, although she does give him a brief little curtsy in hello. It's what her costume calls for.]

Thank you. Yours is very...classic. [What else can you say about it?]

[He does indeed give off the air of someone who generally considers themselves to be too dignified for this sort of thing. He seems a little awkward with the silliness of it all, but it doing his best to be a good sport about it.

She's not the only one thinking about their last encounter and wondering if perhaps they shared too much. He doesn't talk to many people about the mistakes he's made with his son, and in retrospect it all seems like quite a lot of personal things to burden a stranger with. Still, he smiles and does his best not to let his worry show. Its not her fault after all.]

I've been told it goes with my job in some worlds. I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to be using this for. [Indicating the pitchfork.] Intimidation, I suppose?

It's probably meant to disembowel people as a means of eternal torment for their sins.

[Spoken somewhat bluntly, but her tone is as polite as possible.]

Oh. [He looks a bit sad at that revelation. He keeps forgetting most people here think of him as evil.] And yours? Does the dog have any meaning?

[Klara thinks of him more like Hades of Greek Mythology, instead of Satan. He just doesn't suit the way the Bible depicts him. She looks down at the poodle briefly.]

It was a fashion statement in the 50s. It's called a poodle skirt because of it. I don't know it has any special meaning, but people liked them a lot back then.

Well I know a few dogs at home who will be delighted to hear that. They're all quite of the opinion we should be listening to them more anyway.

[She pauses and wonders what he might mean by that. Considering what she knows in her own world--and what she doesn't, but has assumed--she isn't sure if he means that literally or not.]

Real dogs? Not...werewolves or anything like that.

Well the wolves have their own opinions, too. But yes, real ones. My daughter recently discovered how to psychically communicate with them, and its led to rather an increase in pets, among other things. She did not exactly consult me before inviting the wolf pack to move in. Or the tigers, for that matter. Its... interesting.

[She's so very curious and wants to ask hundreds of questions, but she doesn't. Instead she tries to stay as calm and polite as she can.]

Talking to any animal like that would be interesting. They must not see things like we do. [Then she pauses and considers something for a moment.] If you're the head of everything dead, then are all the animals dead too?

Indeed. They tend to take a very different view on the subject of clawing up furniture, for example. [He has a distinct air of long suffering patience about all this.]

I've often wondered that myself. They don't come to Hell, but perhaps they have their own place. If they haven't told me about it yet I trust they have a reason. There's a war coming, back home, and I hope it doesn't give me cause to find out.

[She thinks he's making a joke out that because it's a rather silly image. She can't help but give a small smile.]

If they aren't dead it would be strange for them to live with dead people, wouldn't it? They say the dead and living don't really interac unless you're a ghost.

[He wishes he was joking; he's had to put strengthening spells on all of his furniture and half of the things he owns are still getting smashed by big cats or enthusiastic canines.]

No, they don't. I've made an exception for myself lately, but for the most part the dead and I keep away from the living. It can be hard for everyone involved. If you're alive you can't really understand what its like, no matter how hard you try and most of the dead I know find it too painful to try and connect with the living. It tends to create a gulf between the two sides.
